((Hey what if I, um. Made like, a Portal 2 soundtrack analysis? It sounds kinda dumb and I know there’s not a lot to actually go into but I’ve found that I love analyzing things just as much as I do reading analyses of things (precisely why I ADORE your posts). You’ve kind of inspired me. I want to do SOMETHING like that, and I feel like the Portal 2 OST is just especially powerful in several places. Idk do you think that’s a good idea? Sorry for the long ask lol))

((That would be great! There are loads of things to cover from the diegetic tracks to the non-diegetic tracks. Did you know that Wheatley actually has a leitmotif that plays at least three times in the game?

It sounds so ominous and foreboding. I actually theorized about this leitmotif for a while and came to this conclusion:It represents Wheatley’s deteriorating state of mind (and everything else around him) as a result of him internalizing all of his problems and self-doubt and allowing the issues within and around him to get out of hand. When you listen to his leitmotif, you get the feeling that something terrible is about to happen. That there’s an underlying sense of distress festering from it, just waiting to pour out. It sounds very much like worry and trepidation. Like the walls around you are beginning to collapse in flames (which they are during the boss battle) The leitmotif sounds like something is building up, and in Wheatley’s case, it is. His anxiety is building up, leading to his emotional meltdown at the end. And the destruction of the facility is also building up, leading to a literal nuclear meltdown at the end. It’s interesting how those two things seem to parallel each other because not only is Wheatley ignoring all of the fires in the facility, but also the metaphorical fires within himself until it comes to a point where he can’t keep it in anymore and he loses his composure and breaks down.Anyway, what I’m saying with this is DO IT! :D))
