important to note, the cutscene for when you're going to the asylum didnt change.

When did they change this, and why? The game says you have to stop him before he completes the ritual (i.e. killing the final two sacrifices.), but in my playthrough, rituals already done, so it makes less sense to me.

hi its me again, while i was looking for an order to play the games in, someone mentioned that ghost cases release date changed, maybe thats when the change happened (the release date was sometime in 2021, updated to 2023). Another change is Fredrick's dialogue isnt red anymore.
