The Magic Of Chai
The Magic of Chai
littlewitchaesthetica’s guide to the magic of chai
For all you Kitchen Witches and Barista Witches out there (I know I can’t be the only one), I thought I would put together a little post about the delicious cup of wonder that is chai.
The Magickal Properties of the Spices
Chai is full of so many herbs and spices that aid with protection and prosperity, I find it’s a great every day drink. And, if needed, it’s easy to add different things depending on what kind of boost you need that day. But for now, we’ll stick with the traditional.

The base of chai is Black Tea, which is used for prosperity, strength and fortitude.
Orange Zest- Oranges have many uses, and the peel is good for luck, divination, love, money and home & business blessing.
Ginger- My love affair with ginger is never ending. Ginger draws adventure and new experiences, as well as prompting self-confidence, prosperity and success. Ginger adds to the strength and speed of any mixture you add it to.
Cinnamon- Cinnamon is great for strength, protection, power and success as well as love, luck and prosperity. If I didn’t enjoy eating it so much, I’d use it as incense all the time.
Cardamom- Cardamom promotes love and fidelity, with a dash of lust in there too.
Star Anise- Promotes psychic abilities, awareness and brings power.
Cloves- Also great for protection, money, love and exorcism.
Black Pepper- Black pepper is a strong banishing spice. It will protect you from evil and aids in exorcism.
Nutmeg- Nutmeg attracts money and prosperity, brings luck and protection and can also help increase the intellect.
Vanilla- Vanilla beans are great for restoring lost energy, increasing energy and strengthening mental abilities.
Sweetening Your Chai
There are many sweeteners out in the world (my favorite being honey), so I’ve narrowed it down to my favorite four. Sweeten with whatever you feel is best.
Sugar (white/regular)- Sugar and sugar cane are used to “sweeten” up a situation, and for love, lust and sympathy.
Brown Sugar- See Sugar
Honey- Honey also has the same properties as sugar, but can also be used to hold things together. Attraction and binding are two other properties of honey.
Stevia- Though the magical uses of stevia are not known, it’s a good healthy alternative to sugars.
Choosing your milk
Different milks also hold different magical properties.
Cows Milk- Associated with power and success
Soy Milk- Associated with success in jobs
Coconut Milk- Associated with protection and spiritual cleansing.
Goats Milk- Associated with power and success
Suggested Additions
If you find you need an extra boost of protection and repelling negativity, add a dash of cayenne pepper. Cayenne also speeds up the effects of whatever it’s added to.
For an extra boost of nurturing, power and friendship, add some cocoa powder.
Feel free to add your own findings to this post!

Things to do for Samhain

🍁For the Wistful
take a walk, once in the rain, once in the Sun to celebrate Autumn’s duality
collect the falling leaves and make a bouquet to hang on your wall
spare a thought for your ancestors, those whose legacy now belongs to you
research your family tree
visit your ancestors’ graves and adorn them with white chrysanthemum for protection
drink hot cocoa/coffee mixed with cinnamon, pumpkin spice or nutmeg
bake a pumpkin pie or try your hand at any pumpkin-related recipes (they’re all great tbh)
dress in autumnal colours: yellow, orange, red, brown
check your wards and protections around the house
give offerings to the spirits who have breached the veil
🎃 For the Wicked
have yourself a grand feast (leave a meal for the spirits though!)
marathon a horror movie anthology. or multiple.
gather your friends and have a bonfire night (bonus points if fireworks are included)
go to a halloween-themed party and dance the night away
dress up as a witch and let people believe that it’s just a costume
drink spiced apple cider or red wine. get drunk enough to casually chat with the spirits. celebrate outrageously.
trick or treat
Doing a tarot spread for a friend: all upright cards, super positive and uplifting, great advice
Doing a tarot spread for myself: “Wouldn’t you like to know, weather boy? Have some reversals and the Tower”

a samhain offering for deceased loved ones 🕸🍎🍷🌾
you will need:
• 1 apple
• a consecrated knife
• a picture, drawing, or other object to represent the person you’re offering to
• honey
• twine
• a bowl of water, wine, or other drink
using the knife, core the apple. inside the hole, roll up your image for the person and thread the twine through the hole. hang the apple somewhere that reminds you of the person. under the apple, fill a bowl with honey and your liquid of choice. (it’s OK to cover it if it’s outside). while youre making your offering, meditate on your memories of that person and things you miss about them. leave the offerings overnight, and in the morning, bury the apple somewhere with little human presence, and pour the liquid over the spot.
good luck n blessed be !!
20+ Recipes I Have Personally Verified Are Delicious(tm)
RUBS & MARINADES
Dry Rub for Fish—this is easy and delicious, and the cayenne gives it an awesome kick. You can also use it for chicken.
Best Steak Marinade in Existence—absolutely lives up to its name, and I say that as someone who doesn’t even like steak very much.
MEALS
Cauliflower Soup with Hazelnuts and Bacon—sinfully good, the best recipe for cauliflower soup I’ve managed to find. And I’ve been looking.
Creamy Garlic Parmesan Mushroom Chicken & Bacon—I have a lot of recipes that include the words ‘creamy’ and ‘bacon’ which is probably a problem, health-wise. On the other hand, this shit is delicious.
Seasoned Turkey Burgers—as someone who’s swapped out turkey for red meat, this recipe is a goddamn lifesaver. Extremely easy, it uses those onion soup packets you get from the grocery store. Dress it up with your favorite condiments.
BLT with Fried Tomatoes and Cilantro Mayo—literally so good, if a bit labor-intensive. Btw, you can also just fry the tomatoes and then dip them in the mayo, also delicious.
Butternut Squash, Cauliflower & Beef Shepherd’s Pie—I made this for my office, and it was gone before lunch. Even my assistant told me that it was good, and she doesn’t like anything.
Bacon & Swiss Chicken Sandwiches—you know how in the Great British Bake-Off, Tamal had that sandwich he couldn’t stop thinking about? This is that sandwich.
Bacon, Gruyere, and Butternut Squash Frittata—takes the smokiness of the gruyere and the bacon, but combines with the butternut squash to make something delicious.
Spinach Salad with Hot Bacon Dressing—aromatic and delicious.
Cajun Fried Pickles—I’ve never made the dip, but the pickles are so, so good. Whenever I’m desperate for fries, I make these instead, they’re salty, tangy and good.
Garlic Goat Cheese Dip—get yourself a nice baguette, then make this, and have yourself a phenomenal evening of cheesy, cheesy goodness. (When I’m having a dinner party, I make the cheese dip and also this balsamic vinaigrette, for contrast.)
Butternut Squash Glazed Tart—I made these for the office thanksgiving party, and the Head Lawyer Of The Whole Office herself complimented me on how delicious they were. Since she had a lot of shit to say about my draft agreement, I’m taking the win.
DESSERTS
Peach Tarts with Goat Cheese and Honey—the ultimate summer dessert, with puff pastry a perfect balance of mild cheese and the sweetness of the peaches and honey.
Creamy Yogurt Lemon Pie—another delicious summery dessert, but infinitely easier to assemble, especially if you get a pre-made graham cracker crust.
Puff Pastry Fruit Braid—technically, the recipe calls for a berry medley. However, this concept (puff pastry with cream cheese, cut in an attractive braiding pattern) can be adapted for many uses, including more savory options.
Coconut Macaroons—I made this for our office holiday party, and one of the attorneys who handles massive estates came up to me afterwards to thank me for a delicious gluten-free dessert. So there.
Tiramisu Cupcakes—I made cupcakes AND a cake, and my coworkers and a bunch of out-of-town friends promptly demolished them. While I prefer my desserts a little less sweet, clearly a crowdpleaser.
Sugar Cookies—made these for the office holiday party, and they vanished faster than the catered dessert. So, yeah, suck it professional catering company.
Dark Chocolate Ganache Tart—so silky and rich that you can’t have more than one slice at a time. Have it with coffee.
OTHER CARBS
Best-Ever Pie Crust—so, so good. Sometimes I use bacon fat instead of shortening, which is even better.
Ciabatta—the only ciabatta recipe I’ve ever liked.
Cheesy Pesto Breadsticks—I made these for the office thanksgiving party, and got so so many compliments. People love a soft, chewy white bread flavored with pesto.
Dill Pickle Bread—this is my favorite bread recipe, it’s great for sandwiches and even tastes delicious with just a schmear of butter.
