If reformation was a thing for Bastion and Ida (it isn’t, they’re meant to be willing fatal). But if it was I feel like Bastion would be the sort of Pred where he’d reform Ida and she’d leave the Manor to get some fresh air only to return to a miserable, lonely, hungry and incredibly clingy spider monster. He’d be like “It’s been so long I’m starving and lonely please :(“ and she’d be like “Bastion it’s been literally fifteen minutes”
Me: Alright me! We’re gonna practice writing normal shit today! Also Me: Okay but what if I took two fundamentally broken people who don’t think of themselves as people and put them in an antagonist vs protagonist relationship with undertones of voracious and romantic tension? What then? Me: -Fuck not again.
The Spider Prince gazed at the human woman with something the other Fae could not name, it almost looked loving, but such a thing was impossible.
After all, The Spider Prince was a creature that understood only hunger, though technically it had been born from Fae Royalty it was regarded by all as more Monster than True Fae. “I did not know you kept pets.” The Winter Knight, honestly doubted the mortal was actually a pet, the Prince no doubt lacked the capacity to keep such a thing without feasting on it but it held itself with an ease untypical of those worn down by the Spider’s Manor. ”Ah, Sir Knight, this woman is a dear guest of mine. I would not think it proper to call her a pet”
The Winter Knight snorted “I know what becomes of your “guests”, Spider, mayhaps she’d be better off as another Fae’s pet.”
The Spider Prince’s expression remained that cordial mask of civility it was so good at pretending at. But The Winter Knight could have sworn the entire atmosphere of the house had shifted to something not merely hungry but hostile.
Truly the creature was every bit the glutton the stories painted him as, if the mere suggestion of rescuing one out of however many victims, agitated him so.
The mortal looked between them with understated interest, the Knight found it strange, how little the mortal reacted to his presence, being called a pet or the subtle implication that she was in danger. There was no quaint ruffled sense of offense, no confusion or worry. She looked at him as though waiting for him to do something interesting, it was unnerving and he did not like it.
We’ve had a lot of fun facts about Bastion let’s have some fun facts about Ida: She can fling a knife at a monster and have it sink directly into the skull killing it on impact. She still doesn’t know why people think she’s scary.
Bastion literally can’t not want to eat Ida, so when he realises he loves her it’s less “I couldn’t possibly hurt her now that I know” and more “How unseemly and presumptuous to ask for more from my prey than sustenance I truly am unthinkably greedy” Proceeds to angst about it a lot and resolves not to tell Ida. Then proceeds to fail spectacularly at keeping it a secret.
