⇢ note: this was inspired heavily by putting the dog to sleep by the antlers and love like ghosts by lord huron, though it has next to nothing to do with them. mostly, i just wanted to write about magic and grief and love and things worth existing for. i ended up writing this and while i’m not exactly sure how to feel, i hope you enjoy!!

The world is devastatingly unfair the vast majority of the time, and as such, you are outrageously angry the vast majority of the time.

It is not as if you want to be this angry. You do not exactly have a say in the matter, and even if you did, you certainly would have chosen to be angry anyways. Yet it is more like you are angry on behalf of the things that cannot be infuriated for themselves, the things that have slipped quietly into acceptance for their own prearranged fate until they have no feelings towards the matter at all. These things are not even things most of the time; they can be people. More specifically, they can be Min Yoongi.

Some days are better than others. Some days, there are no dark moons beneath his eyes and the hollows of his cheeks suddenly fill. Some days, he can go outside and enjoy the sunshine without his lungs collapsing in on themselves until they shrivel and become lathered in tar. Some days, there is no pain.

Some days, though, there is all of it.

A/N: This was definitely supposed to be a drabble. It’s definitely way too long to be a drabble. I can’t actually set up a half way decent story and include full smut without going over 2000 words. I cannot. Also, I have to give credit for this amazing line "How about I bob for your apple?“ to the always inspiring and hilarious @heyitsayjayy​.

You’re at the local harvest festival. Everything has that perfect feeling of fall to it. Families are hunting for the best pumpkin to carve into a jack-o-lantern. Shrieks rise from the twists and turns of the corn maze. You’re drinking an apple cider slush and enjoying one of your favorite activities, people watching.

One of the booths spread out around the event is advertising an apple bobbing competition. You have no plans to compete, but you wouldn’t mind watching others dunk their heads in water to grab apples with their mouths. Especially, when it’s kind of chilly and damp out. Think about how silly you’d have to be to walk around with a wet head on a brisk autumn day like this.

His eyes slowly fluttered open to the blurry sight of what looked like his apartment, but trashed to the ground. He immediately squeezed them shut again when he felt a sharp pain gushing through the side of his head, his temple pounding with every heartbeat. As he hissed through his teeth, attempting to stabilize the twinge by applying pressure on the painful spot, he noticed he couldn’t move his hands. He kept trying to mobilize them again until he finally realised they were tied together behind his back.

‘What the…Fucking shit!’, he growled, frantically twisting and thrashing in all possible angles, struggling to free himself from the extremely uncomfortable position on his kitchen chair.

‘You finally awake huh? Had a nice beauty sleep pretty boy?’, a mocking voice resonated through the air, making Yoongi snap his head back up to meet the amused eyes of a man leaning against the wall in the door opening.

‘You…’, Yoongi rasped, his voice still wrecked from being unconscious for over an hour, but his eyes burning fiercely.

There were a lot of things about Jungkook that you didn’t learn until you were official. Like the fact he rarely matches his socks unless they’re cool socks. Or that he prefers his pancakes pre-drizzled with syrup. Not necessarily bad things, just aspects the general public wouldn’t normally see. In fact, the worst “trait” you’ve learned about Jungkook in the past year is how easily distracted he can get. Nothing crazy, just tiny actions, like forgetting to eat for three hours because he refuses to leave his Wii until he can beat the guys in three rounds of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate in the Mushroom Kingdom stage. Strangely specific, but it’s Jungkook and you’ve long since learned he’s an enigma.
