Holding her in his arms he wept until a sea of his tears pooled around them. The soil was tainted in sorrow. He watched as her eyes from the outside in, like white frost covering the window, slowly turned opal. She reached up, mouth agape as she gasped for air. She cupped his cheek catching his tears as they rolled over her knuckles. The opal bleeds and engulfed her black pupils and with her last strangled breath, her back arched. His breath came in ragged, and shallow before he was wailing out, sobbing as he brought her chest to his forehead.

He couldn’t hear it, her heart was silent.

It was icy cold as her spirit lifted from her body, white and translucent. She lifted until she hovered above the soil to a stand. “My love,” her disembodied voice spoke to him as he wept into her being. Lifting his head he saw her spirit smile down at him. The glimpse of brown that once was her eyes was completely white. She caressed his cheek gently one last time, “I will always love you.”

It was his mistake, he swore to never look, he swore to the goddess he would never look.

She stepped into the moonlight and her light absorbed into the moonlight. She was gone. His mate was gone.

Entering your shared place, Jeongguk was excitedly greeted by your pup — both his attention and affection going to your fluffy son for a few seconds before he heard the water running in the bathroom. Instead, he had decided to go to the gym while you were supposed to get ready.

So, it was fair to say he was quite surprised when he opened the bathroom’s door and you were just now taking a shower.

“I thought the shower would be free” he teasingly said, earning a small jump from you, as you had not expected him to be home so soon.

Pulling the curtains back enough for your face to peek through them while your body remained covered, you couldn’t help but smile at the sight of him. Messy, wet hair falling slightly over his forehead, as you couldn’t help but notice the sweat running down his face and neck, giving him a particular kind of glow that made your knees go weak every single time.

“You could’ve showered at the gym, you know?” you teased him back, watching him amusedly roll his eyes at you before you went back to remove the last bit of conditioner left on your hair.

“I only went to the building’s one, I would much rather shower at the comfort of my home” he nodded to himself. “Didn’t know my late ass girl would be still here”.

“I took a nap that I wasn’t supposed to,” you shamefully confessed. “But I just got done”.

Said and done, you turned the water off, carefully reaching for the towel you had brought with you. Only that Jeongguk was faster, pulling the curtains back without notice and holding the fabric up for you.

Smiling shyly, you got out of the shower, letting him dry your body before he placed the towel around it. And then, before you could thank him, his arms were tightly wrapped around you, too — chin resting on your shoulder as he hugged you from behind.

“What are you doing?”

“Loving you” he simply replied, peppering small kisses from your naked shoulder to the crook of your neck.

“Yah, you’re all sweaty” you breathily whined, uselessly trying to remove his hands from your waist.

“You don’t complain when I’m all sweaty on top of you”.

The heat didn’t wait to reach your cheeks, lightly shoving him back with your shoulder to let him know what his words had done to you.

“Am I wrong?” he smirked, tightening his arms around you.

“I just showered, though” you avoided his question. “And you’re making me all dirty again”.

“Okay then” he finally removed his strong arms from you, taking a step back and placing his hands at the end of his tank top so he could pull it over his head. “I’ll just leave you alone to get ready”.

The moment he took his t-shirt off, though, the least you wanted was for him to leave you alone. Au contraire, all you wanted were his arms around you once again.

Ever since he got promoted at work and hence he got more free time, he had been more into working out than he ever was before. And although you had never been too lowkey when it came to staring at him, lately you could just not seem to take your eyes off him.

Especially not now, when his glistening, toned chest, was only a meter away from you.

“Aren’t you going to our bedroom now so you can change?” he pushed it, knowing all too well what he was doing to you when he took his sweatpants off as well.

“You’re such a tease” you huffed.

Jeongguk chuckled, pulling you towards him by your wrist — mouth temptingly brushing against yours. “How am I teasing you, petal?”

“You know how” you glared at him before your eyes unconsciously focused on his pink mouth.

A knowing smile curved up his lips, fixing a wet strand of hair behind your ear.

“All I’m doing is try and get ready to take a shower”.

“Oh, shut up” you breathed out when you were done with his not so innocent games, placing your hand on the nape of his neck and pulling him down to your lips.

Letting out a small hum, he didn’t wait to deepen the kiss, tightly wrapping his arms around your waist and walking you backwards just enough for your back to press against the wall.

With your hands faintly scratching their way down his smooth back, you opened your mouth for his tongue to massage yours — only for him to later hush one of your moans, the moment he had softly pulled on your hair.

That evening, though, you felt like turning the tables around. So, knowing he was ticklish on his sides, you ran your hands down his hot skin, causing him to pull slightly away out of reflex, and taking that brief second as your cue to place your lips on his neck.

Having his head tilting to the side as a small groan escaped his mouth, he gave you all the time and space you needed to tease him. Jeongguk pouted, going back to press another kiss to your mouth. “I can be fast” his words had the corners of your lips curving up, as his mouth once again pressed to yours. “Or you can stay home with me…”

You bit down on your bottom lip. “I don’t know…”

“I can make you feel good” he gently bit your earlobe.

“So can do a night out with my friends” you taunted him.

“Yah,” he nuzzled your neck. “I need you”.

You laughed under your breath, pressing a chaste kiss on his head. Truth was, you could never say no to your needy boyfriend. But, fuck, did you enjoy teasing him.

“Are you getting this needy every time you work out now?”

“Are you looking at me like you did before every time I sweat now?” he bit back.

“If you always look this irresistible…”

Jeongguk chuckled. “You always look irresistible to me. I guess there you have your answer”.

Deciding to say nothing and instead contemplating one last time on whether you should stay home with your boyfriend or go out with your friends like you had planned to, you found yourself internally laughing.
