You walked into the office with a smile. Working at buzzfeed was cool because you got to come in a few minutes late and zero people noticed. You walked to your desk and sat down on the spinny chair, moving around to face your computer.

You clicked on your computer and went to grab some papers you had printed earlier for a new video when you felt the presence behind you. You turned, confused.

When you saw who it was you laughed and they smiled at you, the two boys from the office just beside yours. You talked to Shane and Ryan very often, the crucial reason being the fact that you always made to much food and they quite liked food. You fished in your bag and grabbed out two containers, handing them over.

“I need the blue ones back if you want anymore,” you told them, referring to the tupperware you had given them last week. This weeks food consisted of the desert cupcakes you made two batches of last night.

“You are honestly a lifesaver Y/N,” Ryan told you, sitting on his own spinny chair just across the way from you. You smiled at him and waited for Shane to leave but he smiled and sat on your desk. You eyed him and moved your phone so that he didn’t knock it over.

“Are you making anything special for Halloween like you did last year?” he asked you. You had made a big batch of cupcakes last year and decorated them for just the boys.

“I’ve been asked to make food for the whole office so yes I will be,” you told him with a smile. He nodded and stood back up straight. Well as straight as that lanky man could be. He thanked you again and sat down on the other side of Ryan, opening up the tupperware and taking a bite of the food.

To be truthful this had begun as you just sharing food but it had just become routine now. You made more food then you needed and just gave it to the boys. Whether it be dinner or dessert and they seemed to enjoy it. It made you happy whenever you knew you were making food for three instead of one.

It also helped when Shane thanked you because you had the biggest crush on him. You didn’t want to say it, of course worried he might not like you back but also super worried it would change things between you. So you stayed quiet and gave him smiles and hoped that one day he would just learn to read your mind and ask you out himself. You were rest assured realizing that day would never come so hoping for it was beyond, well, hope.

You made your dessert that night. It was only a day till Halloween and you had been procrastinating doing them until tonight. You decided upon a cute recipe you had made a few years back for Halloween of little brownie bars that you could decorate to be themed for the holiday.

It didn’t take you long to make them and so you were decorating them in no time.

For as long as you had been baking you were able to afford spacing out while doing simple tasks like frosting and found your mind hoping Shane would like these.

You sure hoped so. He was the main reason you were making them.

You came into work the next day with a sly smile and began to hand out the brownies. You were overjoyed to find how many people were asking for seconds as they came across your office space throughout the day. Shane and Ryan were very pleased with them, saying it was some of your best work which you knew but it was still nice to hear that from opinions you cared about.

When someone you didn’t know came to your desk asking for more you were surprised. You knew everyone around here, the office was small enough and you didn’t know anyone was coming in. He looked nice though so you gave him another brownie.

“I’m Joan,” he said. He was a lanky tiny man, not hot but cute enough.

“Y/N. You must be new here then?” you asked, putting down your coffee mug. Shane had actually gifted you the mug for Christmas last year. It reminded you momentarily to buy things for him and Ryan when November began.

“Yeah I am. I work for some of the researchers for the unsolved group,” he told you. You smiled and nodded to Shane and Ryan.

“Then those are your boys,” you told him. He turned to where they were. Ryan was deep into a web article, scribbling down notes on a pad while Shane was just watching some Youtube video and devouring another brownie. You made separate batches for the two of them. Joan looked over briefly and Shane gave him a thin smile while Ryan was to spaced out to see him.

“Ah yeah. Anyway I was wondering if I could come over and see you bake sometime? These are so good.”

Wow. Very forward. Before you had a chance to speak you heard Shane speak up.

“Back off buckaroo the ladies got a boyfriend,” he said, mouth full of brownie. You stared at him and he smiled again.

“Oh! Who?” Joan asked, obviously annoyed.

“Me,” he said. Your eyes widened.

“Excuse me?” you asked, trying to figure stuff out.

“Hey Y/N wanna go out with me?” You smiled confused.

“Sure.”

“See. That bakers mine,” he said.

Safe to say Joan backed off after that one.

Ryan turned around.

“I’m sorry what just happened?”
