guys I’m curious

yeah that’s probably the smart thing to do… I’m fascinated with controversy though, so I end up disappointing myself most of the time. Cancel culture is awful when it’s people just trying to cancel someone for something completely unnecessary, that’s how I feel about this one (e.g. taking quotes out of context and trying to use it as evidence against someone)

feeling mildly upset after learning benedict has said some icky things about autism… trying to do some more research but it’s really hard to find his quotes on the subject with full context.

i just find it hard to believe that he would say something ableist when he’s so supportive and lovely towards so many minorities?

funnily enough im doing this today, we’re dressing up like it’s a fancy dance and going to McDonald’s

My friends and I used to do this thing where we'd dress up on a theme and go do something totally normal.

We dressed up as pirates and went bowling.

We dressed as vikings and went to the grocery store. The security guard told us we had to move our longship because it was illegally parked.

We dressed as Romans and went to Blockbuster. The staff chanted, "toga! Toga! Toga!" at us.

We dressed up all steampunk and went to the museum. Tourists kept taking our picture.

I COULDNT DECIDE BETWEEN SHERLOCK, GOOD OMENS OR WILL WOOD FOR HALLOWEEN BUT I THINK IM GONNA DO WILL WOOD AND HOPEFULLY NOT REGRET IT (just cuz I have more of the materials so it’s more doable)

I read the article in the comments, I believe he just worded it poorly, he just seemed frustrated with people diagnosing Sherlock and other characters he’s played with autism (in both source interviews; I also wrote like a whole essay on diagnosing Sherlock with autism or Asperger’s at one point, I understand his perspective because headcanoning the character is one thing, and outright diagnosing the character canonically without substantial proof is another. That topic has been controversial for a while though.) And in the second quote of the article the commenter linked (second link), the person who excerpts him leaves out the rest of the context, he goes on to then explain his frustration with people expecting those with disabilities to just live life normally after their hardships with no help.

just seems mostly out of context imo, and this viewpoint will either age like milk or wine since so many celebrities turn out to be bad people, so I’m just praying atp 😟
