Five Things I Like About Writing

1. Finding a song that perfectly encapsulates the story I’m trying to tell

2. Reading back a scene and feeling satisfied that I properly conveyed the emotion I was trying to

3. When the characters force me to take a step back from what I wanted to write and let them write themselves (especially if the scene goes in the opposite direction I thought it would)

4. This kind of ties into the one above but I really like when I have to delete dialogue because “they wouldn’t say that”. It just makes me really happy because I struggled a lot when I first started writing with not exactly having defined personalities for characters and instead using them as shells to progress the scene in my head instead of letting them be bigger than the scene

5. Leaving little clues or symbolism notes in lines where the only thing I know for sure is that I understand it
