Everyone is welcome to opinions, but the hate I’m seeing from some fans for Flight of Icarus is low-key disturbing. Most of it from adults at that.

Insulting someone’s characterization of the character they helped create in the first place, especially if you admit you’ve not read the book, is so irrational and unhealthy.

You literally wouldn’t have him without the Stranger Things writers. Eddie is an original character birthed from the writers’ imaginations and further expanded upon on by Joseph Quinn (with their blessing).

You can hate the book. You can ignore any or all of it in your fics. You can have your own Eddie who is any way you want him. That’s fandom. Read that last part again. That’s fandom.

Please stop thinking your fics override writers’ original works. You don’t know the character better. You know it differently.

I have never seen a fandom tearing each other down so much like it’s happening in the EM/JQ fandom…

Believe me one thing: If we all were to stand in front of Joseph he would give a fucking shit how many times you‘ve met him, how many pictures you‘ve had with him or how many notes your post has… you‘d be fan no.1, fan no.2, fan no.3 and so on…WE ARE ALL THE SAME

So please stop tearing each other down, stop ruining the experience for other fans and let’s enjoy everything together.
