While I do love that the norm for Bartylus, even if it’s not romantic, is that they’re so utterly devoted to one another that their practically symbiotic and they literally carved homes in each other’s rib cages and defined love in their neglected minds together and like they’re literally the picture of the idea that the human body just isn’t suited for love like theirs because all they do is hang off each other like they’re afraid if they let go the other will disappear and maybe if they try hard enough they can merge skin and truly be close but also they’re closer than anyone and always will be and always have been, they fully understand that no one knows them like the other but like… what I don’t love about that norm is that everyone also apparently agrees that’s a bad thing??

Like I always see the fun little poems and observations about how they live in each others skin and don’t feel all there when they’re not together but like then it’s followed up by how they desperately wish they could feel alive without one another? Like the fact their definition of love is the other’s essence is a curse? Like they’re indentured to each other rather than in love? Like I know that in real life, obsessive devotion is bad and you should have friends and a life outside of your partner, but this isn’t real life and why is it bad that they truly live their best life when together? Why do people always frame it as they’re both either completely depressed because of their relationship or all they do is fight!?

Why can’t their devotion be a good thing? Because isn’t that what love is? Devotion and admiration and the want to be together forever?? Like, couples that love each other more than anything are super popular and kind of the standard for shipping, I thought. Like not to be a bitch, but when Rosekiller does it everyone loves it? Why is it less acceptable simply because it’s regulus? Wtf happened?

I understand angst, I understand poetic angst even more, but the fact that it’s practically every single person’s interpretation of this ship that it’s a tragedy that their together is honestly exhausting and doesn’t give them or their love credit at all
