kills me to see artists blaming ai for them losing their livelihoods and stability. ai is software with no conscious will. it didn't decide you were unnecessary. your employers did that
it pisses me off because being mad at ai achieves fuck all. there is a very human reason this is happening. put the responsibility where it belongs (and on an entity that is actually capable of taking responsibility)
even if we did the impossible and disappeared ai, they would still be finding ways to pay us less, pay us nothing, replace us. they always have been
plus do we need to be reminded yet again that it's not just artists. people are losing their jobs en masse all over the place
why are we looking at this and going "we need to get rid of the thing that might be able to do our work for us in order to keep working, unnecessarily, for pennies, pouring hours and months and years into soulless projects we hate, AND be resented for it" rather than "maybe we need to get rid of our current concept of work"
it feels impossible but literally what other choice is there? ai will keep getting better. this isn't going to stop. why are we so determined to make the worst of it without even trying anything else
