SRL here to celebrate the one month anniversary of the Grand Festival!
A few of our researchers went back to the Grand Festival grounds to help with the late stage clean-up, but they found a few photos left behind. We thought you might want to take a look back and reminisce! π

GAZAN BOY NEEDS URGENT MEDICAL TREATMENT (SHRAPNEL EXTRACTION FROM HEAD)
A Gazan friend of mine outside Tumblr has recently contacted me with urgent and terrible news about one of her family members.

Haitham, who is here on tumblr @haithamnayef, and has been vetted by Mohammad @ayeshjourney on @gaza-evacuation-funds's list here at number 8 has endured a year of war without help and without a source of income.
He, his wife Sherin, and their 4 children, have endured constant displacement, homelessness, lack of basic needs, and constant terror for a year. Countless of their friends and family members have been martyred.
Now, Haitham is forced to ask for our help because the unspeakable has happened. His son was struck in his head with shrapnel.
I don't think I need to explain the danger of leaving a little boy with such a critical injury untreated for any amount of time, and yet he has been left untreated for far too long, and continues to worsen by the second. This is why we need to fight for him to receive treatment outside of Gaza as quickly as possible.
I always reiterate that time is of the essence, and that every second counts, and right now I mean this more than ever. Haitham and his family cannot bear the thought of losing their son.
I certainly can't bear it, and I know you can't either, so I'm begging you to act in any way you can, even if it's sending this campaign link to your friends and acquaintances.
The campaign has only received 9 donations so far, putting it at $158 out of its goal of $50,000. We can't let this stand.

Yahya and his family lost their home to the onslaught on Ghazzah. Since then, they've been displaced to Rafah; there, they live in a tent and struggle to survive every day without essential resources like food and medicine.
Yahya's parents both need medical treatment, however they are unable to receive it because of high prices and lack of resources.

For Farah (@farahmoo2), there won't be that option should she decide to complete her studies now, rather than wait for the border to open. Recently, the Ministry of Palestine issued a decision to allow students access to complete twelfth grade online. A couple of days ago, Farah informed her mother that she will move forward with her education, and take her final exams in February. Unfortunately, this will involve studying in her family tent or at the internet point, where it is crowded, very hot, or very damp. The internet is slow, and she will be exposed to the constant sound of artillery overhead. As the days are getting shorter, there will be no lightbulbs Farah can turn on to be able to study, and will have to resort to candles or battery power. If her electronic device dies during her coursework, she will have to wait till the next day to take it to the charging point, paying 2-3 shekels to power it back up again. Despite all of this, and stress it might bring, Farah is willing to do this.
On Sep 10, I made a countdown post to get Farah from β¬5,333 to β¬10,000. Now it is Oct 11, and we are only at β¬6,380, and donations have been slowing down recently. Farah and her sister Shahad (@shah599) deserve to have their continuing education funded after all the hard work they've done to get to this point. Please support them however you can.

The war has not only destroyed our lives; it has taken everything from us. Our home, which was once our refuge, is now a pile of rubble ποΈ.
My car, my only source of livelihood, was destroyed in a sudden strike π, and the work that sustained us is now a distant memory πΌ. Today, I live in an endless nightmare. Under a sun that burns everything in its path ππ₯, my family and I sit in a worn-out tent, a tent that shields us neither from the summer heat nor the winter cold βοΈ. Insects π¦ invade the place, diseases consume our bodies π©Ί, and my younger siblings cry from hunger and thirst ππ§. We have no clean water or a crumb of bread to ease our hunger.
