Only 3 months after completing the long-planned ethnic cleansing of Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) by forcing out Armenians, the indigenous population with a history of over 3000 years and, thus, having successfully carried out yet another step of turk-azeri multi-stage strategy of the (second!) genocide of Armenians...And yet, rather than be held accountable for the above-mentioned, azerbaijan recently won the bid to host the United Nation's climate summit next year.

REWARDED 3 months after carrying out an ethnic cleansing! It's funny how the world is so selective about which war crimes must be reprimanded and which ones— rewarded.

Here's what I wish the world would understand: the more you hyperbolize and demonize us, the less willing Israeli society is to entertain any amount of external criticism.

The more you gaslight and browbeat us, the more we will double down and defend ourselves. Why?

Because it becomes clear that none of this is criticism made in good faith - it is meant only to paint us as a unique form of evil, aimed at undoing us. And we're used to our enemies trying to destroy us for millennia - so we won't give an inch.

This post Oct 7 experience has helped me understand why so many Israelis are unwilling to look critically at the ways we may contribute to the perpetuation of the conflict. Literally nothing we do will ever be right. We will always be a pariah in a world of institutionalized, systemic antisemitism.

So why try?

I long for a world of sober conversations - of criticism, both internal and external, in due proportion, aimed at actually improving reality for all the people who call this place home. That is the space I try to inhabit, and it becomes more and more difficult with each passing day thanks to the libelous global conversation.

People with their gross savior complexes delight in the delusion that they're helping. They're only making things so much worse.]

Incredibly well said. Tragic and true. It is almost impossible to engage in any valid criticism of Israel because no matter what we do, it is not enough for the goyim. So why should I listen to anything they have to say?

This is disgusting. It's 2024 and people are marching through the streets with Nazi flags.

Been thinking a lot lately about that saying that leftists have liked to parrot over the last few years (myself included):

"It's pointless arguing with the Right because I don't know how to explain that you should care about other people" but then when it comes to Jews experiencing a massive surge in antisemitic abuse and violence they're like "Oh, we didn't mean them. They don't count."

And then still expect to be taken seriously and not be called out for rank hypocrisy.

The only reason I can think of that they truly don't see their own failing is that for an alarming percentage of these people, any Jewish person's humanity comes with terms and conditions and they really don’t actually see them as people.

Which is abjectly fucking horrifying and nauseating and something I'm having real trouble coming to terms with.

As a queer, working class woman who grew up on a council estate in one of the most deprived and ethnically and religiously diverse regions of the UK (though unfortunately our Jewish population is vanishingly tiny; in my county of Tyne and Wear, less than 4000 individuals out of a total population of 1.1 million) I’ve always been socially conscious and passionate about social justice and proud to call myself a leftist. However, my faith in the integrity of a huge amount of people involved in leftist activism has been pretty much entirely destroyed in the last few months and I loathe that.

They talk a good game but now their words just ring as hollow, empty and entirely performative.
