Did the whole "Don't hate what you don’t understand" lesson we were taught a million times over in children's movies go over people's heads?
This is how we should be acting
Oh, you're Muslim?
That's awesome, I'm always so inspired by your creativity in fashion!
You're pagan, and worship several pantheons at once?
That must be a lot of work! That's impressive!
You're a girl but you use he/him pronouns?
Alright, it doesn't inconvenience me at all to respect that, and it's interesting.
You're cupiromantic, so you don’t feel romantic attraction, but you still want to do romantic things?
I don't see how that's any different than an ace person who enjoys sex, or even an allo person using a dating sim game, so go right ahead!
You're a therian that physically identifies as your theriotype?
That's fascinating, how does that work?
You identify as robotkin?
That's sick as hell, tell me more!
None of these things affect me personally, and none of them inherently harm anyone. Can we please treat things with curiosity instead of anger?
I remember seeing so many younger therians say that they were born with their nonhuman identity, mostly in efforts to seem more valid. What was that about?
"You can only be born a therian"
"You can't be a therian because of trauma, you're just a copinglink if it happened after trauma"
"Real therians are born this way"
Like I beg your pardon??? My otherkin identities weren't always there, I'm literally a machine and a building, but those came WAYYY later in my life. I wasn't born as either of those things. It just happened at random, same with me being born as a maned wolf with hoary bat DNA, it just happened. I didn't choose any of that, but it doesn't matter if I did or not, it just happened. Sometimes identity just changes out of nowhere.
EDIT: PLEASE do NOT derail my posts, PLEASE. If you disagree with anything I say, just block me. Do NOT come up in my comment section derailing my posts. Thank you.
I like to think about non/alterhumans in their everyday lives.
There is a rabbit who made your sandwich.
An elderich being teaches a math course.
The local werewolf takes care of the elderly.
Rams make up the staff at a pub nearby.
Dragons make excellent library workers.
Your favorite cashier happens to be a lion.
Your overly punctual classmate is a moth, and your less than punctual classmate is a hummingbird.
A goldfinch shops at a gift shop.
A catfish tours you through a historical site.
Across the street is a banshee who is walking their dog.
Cats work on their computers in small cafes.
And you move through your life as you are.
We are unique but certainly not alone. Your community is around you, even if you do not see it outright.
Happy Howling!
Does anybody else hate that sometimes therianthropy is treated like a cute aesthetic rather than an animalistic identity?
I get species euphoria by ripping objects apart, chasing animals, eating without utensils, walking on my toes, feeling how sharp my canine teeth are, among other things. None of these things are dainty or aesthetic, and to the average person it's probably not acceptable/normal behavior.
I feel like therians should (in a reasonable manner, we're still humans/humanoids guys) show this side more. Being animalistic in some way is part of being a therian and it shouldn't be shameful
Note: Im not 100 percent active in the alterhuman community so if I've gotten anything wrong since the last time I was here forgive me

Imagine how fun a therian convention would be? Gear makers having booths to sell masks and ethical/faux tails. The main lobby of the con hall turned into a quadrobotics obstacle course. Panels held by veteran otherkin to share their experiences. When are we making this a thing....
