Hi, i wanted to request a james potter x reader thingy :))
So the idea is that james and reader broke up during hogwarts/directly after because they had the children talk, james really wants to be a father but reader is terrified of pregnancy so they break up. But over the years the reader keeps yearning for james and eventually they meet again when james and lily are together and have baby harry and its just really angsty đđ
Hope all of this makes sense i thought of this while listening to a song lyric
thank you for the request babe i love how your brain works <3 this is quite angsty so hopefully you like it! and now iâm curious to know what song đ
also hereâs some shameless promotion for @astonishmentâs series with the same name, itâs deliciously tragic (âčïžâčïžâčïž) and everyone should check it out!!

âCalm down, babe,â Sirius mutters as you walk in step, looping his arm through yours.
You nibble on your bottom lip anxiously, sighing as you glance over at him. âItâs not that easy, Siri. Iâm seeing him after what â four years? I canât just calm down!â
He rolls his eyes, reaching towards you and thumbing at your lip to save it from your torment. âYouâre seeing me after four years.â
You turn to Sirius, and he huffs out a laugh at your deadpan expression. âWell, you never asked me to marry you.â
Sirius wiggles his eyebrows, his lips curving up into a grin. âMarry me?â
âFuck off, Black.â
James and Lily Potter were holding a meet-up of sorts, and had invited most people in your year at Hogwarts. You were hesitant to go, given your history with James, but Sirius insisted you tag along. You knew he, Remus, and Peter had stayed in touch with James. Rightfully, you ought to have too. But neither of you tried to; maybe you both knew it was better that way.
Sirius simpers, coming to a halt in front of the large black gates of the mansion. He reaches forward and begins to twist the lock, and you instinctively reach over and grab his hand to stop him. He turns to you, confusion twisting his features. âWhat are you â oh. Oh, sweetheart.â
He softens when he sees the expression on your face. Youâre biting your cuticles, and the anxiety in your features is palpable. Sirius sighs and firmly pulls your hand away from your mouth, intertwining your fingers together. âItâs gonna be okay. Just be cordial with him. Thereâs no bad blood, right?â
âRight,â you mutter, albeit uncertainly.
âBut, umâŠâ he sighs, dropping your hand to rake his fingers through his hair. âThereâs something I shouldâve told you before. But I didnât wanna freak you out.â
âWhat?â
The apprehension in your tone causes Sirius to wince. âJames and Lily, they⊠theyâve got a baby.â
Thereâs a beat of loud silence as the fact sinks in, a mount of uncertainty and hurt settling in the pit of your stomach.
âOh.â
Youâre trying not to show it, but the heartbreak on your face is painfully obvious. Sirius pouts, moving to take your hand again. âBabe, Iâm sorry. I shouldâve ââ
He doesnât get the chance to finish his sentence, the gates swinging open to reveal a beaming James Potter.
âPads,â he grins immediately, eyes locking on Sirius as he moves towards him and swoops him into a quick hug.
You take the moment to look James over. He looked exactly like you remembered â messy curls, toned biceps, that movie-star grin. Yet something felt different, in the way he pulled Sirius into a hug without all the raucous fervour he wouldâve at 16, how he held him so gently at armâs length while talking to him. Heâd softened, you realised, from the responsibilities of fatherhood and being a husband.
They pull apart a moment later, and his gaze drifts to you. His smile loses a bit of its sunshine, not softening but not quite dimming either. âY/n, hey.â
Thereâs a moment of hesitation as he looks at you, but then he seems to decide upon giving you a hug too.
âHi,â you mutter as he shortens the distance between you, needling his arms under yours to press them to your back. You embrace him in return, and a sudden pang of hurt shoots through your heart at the familiarity of the action.
Perhaps he was remembering it too, from the way he tightened his grip. Both of you were heavy on physical touch, and it was undeniably the best part of your relationship back in Hogwarts â how heâd always have a hand wrapped around your waist, how youâd wake up to cuddles and hugs every morning. You didnât exactly have anyone to hug anymore, living alone.
So you convince yourself that the reason you hold on to James for slightly longer than necessary was because you craved human touch, not because of⊠anything else.
Finally, James pulls away, his arms dropping to his sides as he gives you a small smile. You plaster one onto your face too, for his sake. âSo,â he starts as he turns around, beginning to lead you and Sirius into the mansion, âhowâve you been, Y/n?â
You can feel Siriusâ gaze burning holes into the side of your head, but choose to ignore him. âIâve been great, yeah. You?â
James nods. âThatâs cool. Yeah, Iâve been good too. Things have been fun, but kind of busy; you know, with work and Lily and the babyâŠâ He seems to realise what heâs said, and clears his throat awkwardly. Oh, of course. The baby.
Sirius is beside you in an instant, arching his eyebrows and nudging your elbow to respond.
âOh, um⊠congrats on the baby, by the way.â
James turns around to face you as you walk, and you give him a grin to prove that youâre being genuine â to show him that it didnât feel like there was a knife being twisted in your gut every time the word baby was brought up.
His eyes soften, and you know he can tell how youâre feeling. But he gives you a grateful smile, and says no more as the three of you come to a stop in front of the house.
âBy the way,â James mutters as he pushes the door open, âyou guys are like, an hour early. Youâre the only ones here.â
You immediately turn around to glower at Sirius for subjecting you to more torture than necessary by bringing you early. But he all but smirks as he follows you in.
Your eyes coast around the mansion, taking it all in. Itâs decorated in a minimalist aesthetic, white couches and brown rugs. It was pretty, that was for sure; but you couldnât help but think how different it was from Jamesâ place in the dorm â posters and stickers all over the walls, boisterously red curtains and LED lights. It used to be so full of life.
Honestly, you mightâve guessed an old couple lived here, if not for the small signs of their life as a family â the pacifier on the dining table, a cradle at the far end of the living room, and the heart-shaped photo frames lining the walls.
James watches you, a small smile playing on the edges of his lips. âYou like it?â
He knows you wouldnât like it, itâs everything you arenât. Your dorm had been just like his; trying to fit as many vinyls and posters onto that small space next to your bed as possible. There would be fairy lights in every corner and succulents on the nightstand, a dreamcatcher which heâd gifted you hanging right above your bed. You were messy, as a person, and with your love too. You thought he was messy as well; but apparently heâd gotten his shit together already.
âYeah, itâs simple. Pretty.â
âHoney ââ Lily bustles out the kitchen, a small gasp escaping her lips as she sees you and Sirius. Sheâs holding a ladle in one hand, and has her other arm wrapped around a baby perched on her waist.
You donât register it when she kisses your cheek and hugs you, asks you how youâre doing and leads you to sit on the couch. Your gaze is locked on the baby, every second spent staring at him worsening the nauseous feeling at the back of your throat.
You mustâve asked for his name, because the word, âHarry,â registers in your head. This beautiful baby, with Lilyâs deep green eyes and Jamesâ luscious curls, was Harry.
Would you have named your baby Harry? Probably not, it was too generic. But it was too late now, to pick out names and choose a less boring aesthetic for a house together.
You had lost your chance back in seventh year, that night when you were laying on Jamesâ bed, limbs tangled together as he raked his hands through your hair with all the love in the world. Youâre gonna be my husband one day, youâd whispered, feeling so much affection for him you thought your heart would burst. Yeah, baby, heâd replied with a soft smile. Weâre gonna live in a mansion, with our dogs and children and â
Children?
I donât⊠I donât want children. And thatâs where it all started going downhill, thatâs the moment Jamesâ smile turned upside down and his hand dropped from your hair. It had turned into an argument, a screaming match â and eventually a reason to break up. James couldn't understand much you feared it, the pain of pregnancy and the exhaustion that came with motherhood. And some part of you knew that you werenât blameless either â calling him awful things and accusing him of not loving you; though love was all he ever gave till the day you told him it was over.
The feeling of Siriusâ nails digging into your palm brings you back to the present, and you see him nodding absentmindedly as Lily rambles about how much trouble Harryâs been, and oh, sheâs picked up a hobby of crocheting, andâŠ
You flit your eyes to look at James sitting opposite you, gazing at you with his brows pinched in concern. Your emotions mustâve been obvious on your face, then. But he immediately looks away when Lily calls out to him, holding up Harry for him to carry.
You watch silently as James squeezes into the chair next to his wife, taking the small, lovely baby between his large, calloused hands. He smiles at Harry, looking at him though he was the most precious thing on earth. Jamesâ fingers bunch Harryâs tiny shirt as he brings him close to his face, gently pressing a kiss to his forehead. Lilyâs head lolls onto Jamesâ shoulder as he shifts Harry into a comfortable lying position in his arms.
There you have it. The perfect family, with the gorgeous wife and the adorable baby and the man who couldâve been yours if you wanted.
Itâs too much for you to take, and Sirius squeezes your hand as you start to shake. Harry coos, and you melt at how Jamesâ face breaks into a sunny beam. He tilts his head to press a soft peck to his wifeâs hair, and thereâs so much love in that simple gesture that you feel like you could die.
You feel Siriusâ worried gaze on you, your hands trembling and your knee bobbing up and down. The taste of blood from how hard youâre nibbling on your lip is grounding; it brings you back to yourself, who you are, and not who you couldâve been.
âHey,â he murmurs softly from beside you, but it doesnât get lodged into your brain. The only thing you feel is your vision of the perfect family blurring, soft streams of regret rolling down your cheek. Sirius makes a small noise of pity from beside you, and James looks up instantly, eyes widening as they lock on you. Lily is fast asleep, baby Harry staring at you with his thumb stuck into his mouth.
âY/n, you okay?â James asks gently, but you donât reply, still looking at him with that distraught look on your face. You open your mouth, but you donât seem to have the vocabulary to express the heartache you felt right that moment. It felt strangely like grief; like you were mourning for the version of yourself you never got to meet, for the version of James who didnât have the chance to be yours.
James' mouth twists downwards in a frown as he stands up and steps closer towards you. Itâs like an alarm is set off in your head, and you immediately jolt back to the present, sucking in a deep breath.
Your legs act of their own accord as you stand up, Siriusâs hand falling limp on the couch as he looks up at you in surprise. You gulp down the lump in your throat and fiercely brush the tears away, James coming to a halt in front of you. âY/n, baby ââ
âIâm not your baby.â
James slaps a hand to his mouth, eyes as wide as Harryâs now. âFuck, no, it â it just came out. I didnât mean to. Shit, youâre crying.â
âIâm okay,â you warble. James opens his mouth to retort but you donât let him, knowing that the longer you spent here, the more the gaping hole in your chest would grow. You couldnât bear it anymore, watching James with his wife and wishing it was you instead. The worst part was that it was all your fault, your stupidity and your rejection.
âIâm fine, really. IâŠIâm gonna go now, it was nice meeting you. Convey my love to Remus, Peter and the girls.â You pick up your bag, moving to the front door with a befuddled James tracking your movements.
âY/n ââ
âBye, James,â you call out halfheartedly as you slip into your shoes. He comes to stand at the door, rocking Harry from side to side. He looks almost disappointed as you make to leave.
âIâm sorry.â
You look up, surprised. âItâs not your fault.â
Jamesâ lips pursed together with guilt, seeming like he wants to say something as he opens and closes his mouth. He finally sighs, âItâs not your fault either.
It was startling, how he still knew just the right thing to say â he always had. The regret that had been clogging up your heart for years was drained out upon hearing that one sentence. James didnât hold the utter failure of your relationship against you, and that was enough. If you couldnât have his love, at least you had his forgiveness.
You give him a half smile and nod, turning around to leave. Youâd go back to yours, more of a house than a home. But at least no one but yourself could hurt you there, there was no one to turn away and no hearts to break. No one to love.
âHey.â
You spin back around to face the door, heart stopping upon seeing the moistness in his eyes. You hear the scratchiness in his throat as he sucks in a deep breath.
âJamesâŠâ
âNo, donât â donât say anything. I just wanted to tell you, umâŠâ he defeatedly runs a hand through his hair and exhales shakily. âI hope we worked out, you know, in another life.â
That catches you off guard, your heart involuntarily squeezing in your chest. James looks almost embarrassed as he says it, but you see the vulnerability in his eyes. He was right â maybe there was some planet on which you were less of a coward, another world where he could put a ring on your finger. Heâd been yours to lose in this life, perhaps he was yours to love in another.
You clear your throat, feeling nausea brimming in the pits of your gut. âYeah, I⊠I hope so too.â
You spare yourself one last glance at him before turning towards the exit, praying he didnât see the tears dribbling down your cheeks.
You squeeze your eyes shut and will yourself to trudge forward, before he can call out to you and break your heart all over again.
In a few long strides, youâre out the gates; out of Jamesâ life again.

summary: it's your birthday :(
a/n: this is the first time iâve ever really cried when writing something, itâs got a home in my heart now and i hope you like it!! 𫶠(also listen to our lovely girl billie while reading for added heartbreak)
tw: past suicide attempt
You lean back on the couch from where youâre bending over the table. Remus wastes no time in wrapping an arm around your waist, pulling you into his side. He gently presses his lips to your forehead. âHappy birthday, lovely girl.â
âThank you,â you mumble half-heartedly, grateful but too overwhelmed to show it.Â
Thereâs a cut-up chocolate cake in front of you, which Remus had insisted upon baking. Heâd honoured your wishes not to throw a big bash, and of not wanting an actual present. He didnât exactly understand why â but he loved you too much to not do what you wanted him to; birthday or not.
Guilt weighs heavily on your heart; Remus has been kinder than you deserve. You decide to help him understand.
âYou know,â you start softly, tilting your head to lay it on his shoulder. He hums in acknowledgement, fingertips grazing your sleeve as he starts to rub your arm. âI didnât think I would last this long.â
The shakiness in your voice surprises even you. You feel Remusâ hand still on your arm.Â
âWhat?â he murmurs. You canât decipher if the slight lilt to his voice is because of sadness or confusion.
âI didnât think I would last this long,â you repeat quietly, just to be safe, and you feel his hand coasting across your back as he gently grabs your shoulders. He turns you towards him, and you donât wait for him to ask before you start to explain. âWhen I was 13, I couldnât imagine ever making it this far. I tried to kill myself.â
Remusâ eyes widen the slightest bit as he takes in your sudden admission. His grip on your shoulders doesnât falter; and itâs like you both know heâs the only thing holding you upright.Â
When he doesnât respond, your gaze immediately drops to the couch, shame clouding your eyes.
âI⊠I didnât know that.â
The crack in his voice makes you look back up, meeting his gaze. His features are softer, sadder; somehow. Thereâs the slightest bit of grief in the way heâs regarding you. âAre you glad you made it this far?â
You rub your lips together, taking a shaky breath to make sure your voice comes out evenly. âYeah,â you exhale softly. âYeah, I am. I got to meet you.â
âIs that the only reason?â
âNo,â you reply honestly. âI love my work. My friends, I really like hanging out with them. And Iâd say our apartment is pretty sweet.â
The concern in Remusâ expression is still evident, his brows pinched together almost painfully. His hands bunch up the fabric on your shoulders, tugging you towards him. Youâre certain the action is subconscious â he looks lost in thought, like heâs deliberating wrapping you up in his arms and never letting you go.
âWould you like more reasons?â you ask quietly, feeling your vision start to blur. You shouldnât be surprised that he cares this much, but you are.
When he nods, your heart melts â the magma seems to be pooling in your stomach, and you feel the kind of warmth youâve only ever been able to feel since you met him.
âOkay,â you decide to indulge him. âI like coffee when I wake up, especially when you make it. Feeding the stray dogs on the side of the road every morning. And my guitar, I like to make music on it. I think music is nice.â
You feel your throat start to clog up, the image of Remus distorting into a blurry swirl in your eyes. âItâs lovely when it rains, especially when weâre both at home, cuddling. And ââ
Your voice comes out wobbly, the tears coming hard and fast now. You want to stop, but push on for his sake.
âAnd I really like our apartment. Did I mention that? Also, your hugs â I love the way you hug. Itâs like you really love me, and ââ
âI do love you,â Remus interrupts in a shaky exhale, words barely audible from the way his voice is trembling. âI love you, okay? I love you a whole lot. And Iâm so glad youâre still with me.â
He doesnât give you a chance to respond, gently pulling you even closer towards him. You meet him in the middle, arms instinctively wrapping around his waist as he brings his hands up to encircle your shoulders.
Remus squeezes you like itâs his job to hold you together, and you hear a soft sniffle as he buries his face in your hair.Â
âIâm so glad youâre still here,â he says again. Your heart clenches in your chest, in all the best ways.
âI love you,â you respond, because you both know itâs synonymous with Thank you for giving me a reason to be here.

Never Ever
Tony Stark x fem!reader
WC: 1.3k
CW: Fluff; mentions of lunch?; Tony Stark being a gentleman đ
Summary: Your new boss never ever does one-on-ones
Day 28 of mkâs mad dash

Youâre finally starting to feel your first-day-nerves settle, and itâs a relief. After getting some one-on-one time this morning with Natasha, your bossâ previous assistant, the job doesnât seem all that bad.
Though first-day nerves are normal, you suppose theyâve been exacerbated by the fact that you would be working for Avenger and billionaire Tony Stark. Natasha has assured you that despite his powers and influence, heâs really all bark and no bite, and that youâll have no problem âhandling him.â
Still, itâs hard to know if you 100% believe her, seeing as youâve yet to actually meet your boss.
Regardless, Natasha has just left you to go to some Avengers meeting, so you feel relieved to know that you probably have a solid hour before you finally, hopefully (or not hopefully) meet Mr. Stark.
You decide that your first order of business is to decorate your desk with a few keepsakes from home and pictures of your friends and family.
Right in between your two monitors you set your little rubber ducks- one pink and one yellow. You neatly set out your dark blue coffee mug in the right corner and a picture frame of your cat in the other.
The last things to go up are your pictures. With a handful of thumb tacks, you stick them on the cork board walls surrounding your desk. A couple of the pictures you put up are you with your family- all of you bearing happy smiles on vacation or a holiday. Others are with your friends- your roommates from college, your old high school coworker, and your childhood best friend, Thomas.
âIs that your boyfriend?â
As you adjust the picture of you and Thomas you smirk. Itâs a question youâve both gotten many times, and the answer is always âNo. thatâs my best friend Tho-â
You look up from the picture and stop mid-sentence, eyes widening as you realize that youâre talking so very casually to none other than your boss.
âOh! Uhm, Mr. Stark! Hi!â You stutter, introducing yourself, âIâm your new assistant.â
You cringe, âthough Iâm sure you figured that much out yourself.â
Your boss scans you seriously and then breaks out a smirk, âPlease, loosen up around me- Iâm just your average playboy, billionaire, superhero. And call me Tony. Mr. Stark was my fatherâs name.â
An exasperated chuckle escapes you and you nod, âright, okay. Sorry, Tony. Itâs a pleasure to finally meet you.â
The brunette motions for you to follow him and you oblige.
âYou as well. You know, Natasha spoke very highly of you after your interview, so Iâve been very curious to meet the one who impressed the Black Widow.â
Heat creeps to your cheeks against your will, and youâre glad Tony is looking forward as he walks and not at you.
âI guess Iâll have to thank her for the glowing recommendation.â
You arrive outside what you assume is Tonyâs office- given its size and grandeur.
Tony confirms your suspicions a second later. He opens the door and gestures for you to go in first.
You let out a meek thank you and scurry in, moving off to the side so he can follow. His office is impressive to say the least. Itâs spacious and really, really fancy. His desk is made of the sleekest dark wood with two high-tech computers adorning its surface. Tony has the most wonderful view too- a huge window looking out onto the rooftops of New Yorkâs most beautiful skyscrapers.
An âoh wow,â escapes your lips before you can stop it.
Your boss lets out a chuckle at your awe and nods for you to go look. You make your way over to the window and lean your hands against the windowsill.
âI already knew I loved New York. But this. I mean, wow.â
Tony joins you, standing at your side, âit is quite a view.â
The awe in his voice is obvious and you glance over at him. But heâs not looking at the city. Heâs already looking at you.
âYeah, it is,â you say, trailing off.
Your boss holds your gaze for a second before clearing his throat and looking away.
âAnyways, I just wanted to get you acquainted with where my office is and get to know you a little. Iâm assuming Natasha explained all your tasks to you?â
You nod, âYes, she did. ButâŠsorry, I hope you donât mind me asking, donât you have an Avengers meeting right now?â
Tony looks down at his watch and curses, âSteve is going to kill me.â
Then he looks up at you with a smirk, âAlready doing pretty damn good at your job though.â
He heads towards his office door but hesitates when he grabs the handle, âI stand by what I said, by the way. I do want to get to know you. Lunch is on me today, at noon. You can meet me out in the lobby.â
Once you nod affirmatively at him, Tony opens the door and leaves, another muttered curse reaching your ears as you follow him out.
Youâve just finished the last of your paperwork before lunch when Natasha sidles up to your desk.
âHey hot stuff,â she teases.
You give her a weird look, âHeyyyy Natasha?â
âSo, a little birdie told me that Tonyâs taking you out to lunch.â
Excitement overtakes your confusion, âoh yeah! He is! I actually need to be down in the lobby in five minutes.â
Natasha smiles at you like she knows something you donât.
âWhat?!â
âIs this Tonyâs new assistant?â a voice adds.
Itâs a man- Hawkeye, you think.
He extends his hand with a smirk, âMy nameâs Clint, nice to meet you.â
You shake his hand firmly, but your eyes donât leave the redheadâs face.
âPleasure, really. But whatâs going on, Natasha?â
âTonyâs taking you to lunch,â she huffs.
âYeah? And? Itâs not a big deal.â
âItâs a huge deal,â a third voice adds.
This one, you know for sure.
Pepper Potts.
âItâs just lunch,â you sigh, exasperatedly.
âStark doesnât do âjust lunchâ,â Clint tells you matter-of-factly, ânever ever.â
âNot when I was his assistant,â Natasha states.
âOr when I was before Natasha,â Pepper adds.
âTony does company lunches sure, but never ever one-on-one,â Clint finishes.
Your stomach flips nervously in your stomach.
âSo then why me? Why how?â
The redhead looks at you with that smirk of hers again, âwhoâs to know?â
She looks at her watch, âand I believe youâll be late if you donât leave now.â
You jump up from your chair, cursing.
âWeâll talk later.â
You try to ignore the eyes that follow you as you walk to the elevator.
For as tall as the building is, the ride down in the elevator is fast. When you emerge into the lobby, youâre relieved to find that you beat Tony downstairs.
Only by a few seconds though, it seems, because he emerges from another elevator only moments later.
He spots you instantly and gives you the smile you always see him use on the news.
When he approaches you, he brushes your arm gently, guiding the both of you to where his car is stowed away- A car that is nicer than anything youâve ever seen, nicer even than your own home.
Like a gentleman, your boss grabs your door before you can and opens it for you. He extends his other hand to help you into the low-riding car and you willingly accept. When your palms touch, a spark shoots up your arm and you just barely withhold a shiver.
Then, the door shuts resoundly.
*****
You donât bother reaching for your door handle, because you know youâll only be stopped before you even get the chance.
Tony is around to the passenger side door so fast you wonder if he hopped out while the car was still rolling.
The brunette holds out his hand to help you out of the car and sparks run through your body at his touch, even after all this time.
Once heâs shut the door behind you, his hand moves from yours to wrap around your waist and rest lovingly on your hip.
âWhy thank you, Mr. Stark,â you tease, âquite the gentleman.â
Tony presses a searing kiss to your lips that sends your stomach up in butterflies.
âYouâre welcome, Mrs. Stark.â

The view was gorgeous. The sun was slowly beginning to set but not entirely gone, and the soft summer breeze gently blew against the guestsâ hair and dresses. It was a glorious sight. You stood at the very edge, watching with bated breath as you nervously held the flowers in your hand. Your hands felt cold, and your stomach was in knots. Youâre positive if you had extended your arm, your hands would have been shaking. Looking at the end of the aisle, you saw him. And suddenly, the darkness in your head became daylight.

It was after OWLS that you, Remus, Sirius, and James lounged in the common room. You didnât have much to do since your exams ended. You laid your legs on top of Siriusâ, and he gave them a comforting squeeze. Smiling back at him, you flicked another piece of popcorn at Jamesâ face. He unsurprisingly caught the popcorn.
âHow do you reckon you did on the exams, love?â Sirius asked, reaching for the bowl on your lap. You shrugged. You were so nervous leading up to the exams that you werenât even sure you passed. Remus had helped you study, and he knew that you would pass. However, you did not return the confidence. Remusâ interest piqued and is waiting to hear your answer. He had spent the better half of two months tutoring you. Bless him; he would wake up early to create flashcards for you. He would prepare practice quizzes for you to feel more confident in your skills.
âTruthfully? I donât think I am going to pass. I feel like I completely failed!â You confess. Sirius looked at you, slightly confused. He knew that Remus had been tutoring you like a madman. He wouldâve assumed you wouldâve felt confident enough to agree that you had passed.
âIt's okay, Y/n. I, too, feel like I failed.â James chimed in. He popped another piece of popcorn in his mouth. He didnât think he had failed, but he didnât want all the attention on you. He saw you get tense.
âDove, why do you feel you failed?â Remus asked in a soft tone. You groan. How could you explain to your lovely Remus that you probably failed because the better half of your tutoring sessions were spent with you staring at him? A blush crept its way to your cheeks at the attention. You wouldnât fess up to Remus, so why did you feel so uneasy about your exams?
âI just donât think I did well, sâall.â You spoke as you turned to look at Remusâ stare. His warm brown eyes held a comforting look that you almost forgot that it was because you were in love with him that you felt that you had failed.
âI think you did just fine, dove.â Remus got up and squeezed your hand as he left the common room. You felt like you were being roasted. Your face had become hot, and Sirius seemed to catch on.
âLove, you okay over there?â Sirius commented. You turned to glare at him and nodded nonetheless, but he didnât respond. So, he had made eye contact with James. Neither he nor James believed you. It had become an underlying suspicion between the two boys that you were smitten for your friend. But James had convinced Sirius not to tease you about it anymore. He just didnât think it would do you any favors if Sirius continued to tease you for being so shy around Remus. The boys dropped it and opted to go to the Great Hall in order to eat their dinner.
âY/n?â James spoke as he saw Sirius at the door. You look up at him with slight confusion in your face as you turn.
âIf you like him, please tell him.â James didnât say anything else and walked back up to Sirius. They left you in shock, were you really that obvious?
Remus had opted to go visit the astronomy tower. He knew there was something that you werenât telling him about why you felt so uneasy about your exams. He spent hours working with you to ensure that you knew what you were doing. He graded your work and he saw how smart you were. So why didnât you believe in yourself? What was causing you not to believe in yourself the way he did in you? Maybe he was slightly biased but it was you. You were everything for him. So he believed you passed. He couldnât understand why you didnât see that. He of course would never tell you out right how much he cared and why he cared that much. But he would try and show it in ways he knew. Which was why he was now sitting in the astronomy tower staring out onto the stars thinking about you and how he desperately wished he could tell you he loved you. Yet he wouldnât do that, he wouldn't dare do anything that would cause him not to have you anymore. So there alone he sat not thinking much about what was happening with you to think that you werenât brilliant. His inner sulking was cut short when he heard someone on the stairs.
âMoony is that you?â Sirius questioned his friend. Truthfully Sirius knew it was him he had seen his location on the map. Remus had been at the tower for nearly three hours. Sirius thought it was time for him to come back.
âPads.â Remus replied.
âCâmon back to our dorm loverboy.â Remus didnât bother to argue with Sirius. He knew that Sirius knew that he liked you. So what was the point in lying about it? Silently the two boys walked back to their common room. It was comforting to Remus. While the comfort was there the underlying hurt of not being with you began tearing away at Remus.

You walked down the aisle and he looked radiant. Suddenly all the pain that you had gone through was worth this moment. All the heartache that you two experience was beyond worth this moment to be here with him. You reached the altar and you were starstruck speechless. He was gorgeous, his eyes sparking in the sunlight and in his suit Remus looked amazing. You had begun to think that you didnât want to look at anything else. Nothing else mattered. He was everything to you. As you reached the altar Remus reached for your veil and uncovered your face. The brightness of your smile caused a swarm of butterflies to swell in Remusâ stomach. You felt similarly as you watched him smile. The sun behind him caused a beautiful halo behind and it made everything ethereal. Remus gently brushed his hand on the apple of your cheek and caused goosebumps to rise. Everything felt magical. You were truly and utterly in love with him.

It was the night of the Yule Ball and it was feeling a bit awkward because you were going with your cousin's best friend Max. All because Remus wasnât going with you. It wasnât like it was his fault even though he also had feelings for you. You sat in your shared dorm with Lily and Marlene helping you get ready for the ball and helping you with your hair.
âBabe you look gorgeous!â Marlene cheered as she finished your makeup as Lily applied the last few clips on your hair. She had finished the final touches as she gently brushed your hair away from your face and onto your back. The gentle curls looked wonderful with your dress. Your dress was a beautiful lavender color with an iridescent white touch to it. You looked radiant. The moons that Lily placed in your hair gently glowed in the dim light of the castle, it made you beyond stunning. Slowly you descended the stairs, you hate to admit it but you were looking for Remus, yet he was nowhere to be found. Rushing to your side was an overly dramatic Max. Pouting, you look at him masking the defeat you felt.
He wasnât Remus.
âMax!â You tried but it felt weird talking to him like this. You didnât feel much like conversing with him, you simply wanted to find Remus. As the night went on you couldnât find him and the sinking feeling that he wasnât there continued. It felt terrible to know he wasnât there but it was also nice to know that he wasn't with another girl. It calmed your mind a bit that he hadnât told you that he couldnât come because he was with another girl but that he actually couldnât come. Lily had mentioned something about James saying that he also wasnât going this year and Sirius apparently was also missing the ball. It was hard to come to terms with it but it made you feel better that Remus wasnât ditching you. Youâd probably be given some sort of excuse on Monday about why he didnât show. Trying to not feel so incredibly disappointed you made your way to the dance floor taking Max by the hand and beginning to dance the night away.
Unbeknownst to you the Yule Ball this year happened to take place during a full moon. Which meant that you would not be seeing Remus until the following Monday. Why was that how it went about? Well, he never wanted you to see him after his run in with his lycanthropy. Even though you knew to a degree about what happened to Remus every month it was never agreed upon that he was in fact a lycanthrope. You simply called it his run with the wolves. He always returned scared and slightly bruised. It hurt to see especially when you had no idea what had caused it. It was nearly infuriating to you to have to watch your best friend go through that and not know what was the reason for his agony. But Remus preferred it this ways was his way of keeping you safe. He believed that you were far too sweet and important to him for you to be hurt by finding out about this. He didnât want to put you at risk. He refused to ever hurt you in any way and that included you finding out about him being a lycanthrope. There was nothing Remus wouldnât have done in order to have you be safe. Even if he was unintentionally hurting you by not showing up at the Yule Ball. But believe him when he says that if you had told him on Monday that you were hurt that he didnât show he would never forgive himself for hurting you. That was always the last thing he ever wanted to do. He never wanted to hurt you.
As you danced the night away with Max, Remus was running with Sirius at his side and James on the other. Peter obviously was somewhere with them but it was exactly like you had called it. Remus was currently running with the âwolvesâ instead of dancing with you. It hurt him naturally to not see how gorgeous you looked in your dress or your makeup. But Moony didnât really pay much mind to the fact that Remus wished he was there. The longer the night lasted the more you found yourself becoming more comfortable with Max. It wasnât something that you had expected at all. But it wasnât entirely unwelcome. He was nice, kind, warm, slightly awkward but nothing that was unsettling.
You both danced the night away and it was a nice feeling successfully getting you to forget Remus. So much so that you were able to kiss Max. And thus began your new relationship.

The way that you and Remus had finally gotten together to the point where you were now getting married was not an easy one yet here you both stood under the altar preparing yourselves for your vows. It was a beautiful thing to watch. Understanding all the pain and worthy that you both had to go through. The beautiful start, middle and present of your relationship was the most beautiful transformation for your friends to have seen. James always liked to say that he was the mastermind behind this relationship. In reality he wasn't, he was simply just the puppet. You and Remus were undoubtedly the masterminds but you two were also beyond patient with one another waiting until the seemingly perfect time to finally get together. The road to this point may have been painful and absolutely tiring. But it led to this beautiful experience.
âWe are gathered here today to celebrate the beautiful love of Y/n and Remus. These two gits finally came around and got married. Which they truly deserve to be happy and married.â Sirius was chosen to officiate your wedding. Why you had agreed to this is past you but youâre almost positive that this was due to him being your now husbandâs best friend. You smiled at Sirius as he continued his speech as he proceeded to speak about your and Remusâ love. Before you knew it, it was time for your vows. You donât think anything could have prepared you for this particular moment.
. Ęâ âč . ĘË . Ę. Ęâ âč . ĘË .
It had been a full year dating Max and you had begun to think that this was worth it.Remus was also not liking the relationship between you and Max. He had to see you and Max having to be romantic and demonstrating PDA. It was torturous for him to have to watch you with him. But it was slowly eating away at him. It hurt to have to go through this and it was agonizing to say the least. It was hard for him to watch the girl he was in love with be with someone else. Constantly it hurt his heart making it feel like he was drowning. It felt like there was a constant pressure on his chest making it feel like he canât breathe. This was hard for him to cope with because he loved you so much. But if you were happy Remus would have to swallow his feelings and pretend that it didnât hurt. He would have to believe it to the point that it didnât actually bother him seeing you with Max.
You returned to the common room and you had found Lily sitting reading a book with a mug in her hand. She looked so cozy you had almost felt bad for having run in crying like you. Lily was the best friend that you could ever ask for. She was sweet and caring and would stop everything if she needed to in order to help you. Naturally when she saw you crying she instantly began consulting you.
âMy darling what happened?â She asked you with such tenderness that you wanted to cry harder. You couldnât believe that this was happening. Why was this happening? Why to you?
âH-he broke up with me.â You stuttered out. Lily slowly let go of you from the light grasp that you were in. She looked at you with concern and empathy filling her orbs Lily didnât like Max too much but to hear how badly he had hurt you mad her want to fight him. She hated seeing you this upset. You didnât say much after having admitted to the fact that Max broke up with you if anything you just cried, and cried.
âAnd did you see his face! Oh it was amaz- Oh, whatâs wrong with lovey?â You hear James ask. You werenât sure how long it had been but your eyes felt exhausted. They were puffy and red. Lilyâs sweater was now drenched in tears and her legs felt numb now having had you laying on them. But she didnât mind, you needed her comfort so she would provide that. She had made eye contact with everyone there. She first glanced at James who looked concerned to find his girlfriend comforting one of his best friends. James was ready to go fight someone but he wasnât sure what the problem was. He wanted to offer up beating up the person who had hurt you. But he didnât know what was wrong. Instead he waited for Lily to say something. Sirius was also ready to go and help James to fight whatever bastard hurt you and much unlike James he really didnât feel like waiting for Lily. However Remus was eerily calm about it. He wasnât too keen on having to see you cry much less if someone made you cry. Yet he knew that he couldnât react yet. So he had to wait. He had to wait until it was time to comfort you or wait until you were ready to talk. So now all three boys are waiting for Lily to tell them anything.
Max she mouthed to them. Remusâ hands clenched slightly at seeing Lilyâs response. He couldnât believe what happened, he was livid with Max for having hurt you the way he did. Silently he sat next to Lily. You were slightly aware that he was next to you and you gently looked at him. He smiled so fondly at you that you wouldnât have ever guessed that he was livid at someone. You stretched your arms out and began to lean closer to him. Lily was a great comfort but you wanted to be in Remusâ arms. He was a whole new level of comfort. He was warm and smelled like chocolate. He also happened to be the boy you had been in love with for years but that was beside the fact. So without saying much you curled up into Remus. You werenât crying anymore but you were gently nursing shaky sighs. Remus rubbed his hand up and down your side comforting you the same way that you would comfort him. Lily had gone up and proceeded to wave at Sirius and James to leave you two alone. James, Lily and Sirius all went up to the boysâ dorm and talked about what exactly happened to you. Meanwhile you and Remus were having the same conversation downstairs.
âDove what happened?â Remus questioned gently.
âMax.â
âWhat did that prat do?â
âCheated and broke up with me.â Remus tightened his hold on you pressing a gentle kiss to your hair.
âMy sweetheart, I am so sorry dove. You do not deserve that. You are so much more important than that.â Remus spoke, tears still welled in your eyes and you wondered if he felt the same way or if it was just something he was saying in an attempt to just comfort you. For Remus this was now the time to confess. Sure it wasnât ideal because your emotions were grieving no doubt. But he knew that if he didnât say anything he would lose you again. And he just couldn't have that.
âY/n, you are the most amazing and wonderful girl I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. You, my dove, are the light of my day. I love you. I have loved you for years now. I couldnât keep going without you knowing. I know this isnât ideal my dove but I want you to know that I love you and I will wait until you're ready.â You couldnât believe what you were hearing. Remusâ words were making you feel all sorts of ways. You blushed and looked up at him, your eyes no longer teary. Smiling, you gently craned your face to Remusâ jaw. Gently you pressed a kiss to the side of his jaw smiling as you pulled away.
âI love you more.â Smiling Remus tightened his grip holding you close. Neither of you had said anything for the rest of the night but you both understood. And three months later he had asked you officially to be his girlfriend. Naturally you agreed and neither one of you could be happier. Your relationship was amazing, it was gentle, it was warm. Both you and Remus had left Hogwarts as a happy couple and knew that you would be together forever.
. Ęâ âč . ĘË . Ę. Ęâ âč . ĘË .
Everyone was silently waiting for your vows. They wanted to hear how the two of you would profess your love. Remus went first.
âMy dove, my darling, my life. I cannot begin to express how amazing these past four years of dating you have been. I also cannot begin to tell you how wonderful these ten years of having you as my best friend have been. You have seen me at my worst and continued to love me. You havenât ever made me feel less than. You,â Remus paused, wiping away the tear from your face and his, âYou have been my best friend and the light of my life for years. Dove, you have always been there for me when I needed you and I hope to be there for you whenever you need me. I want to be the man that you need. I want to provide the best life that I can. Y/n you make me want to be a better man and make me want to spend the rest of my life with you. Seeing you, you became my daylight. You are the light of my life. You are my moon, stars, and sun. Y/n you are the whole universe for me. I promise to you Y/n that I will be the man that you need me to be, for you and for our children. I promise that we will cherish each other and grow old together. I love you Y/n and I promise to love you until my dying breath.â Tears flowed freely. Remusâ words were true and heartfelt and they were so beautifully put it almost made you nervous for what yours were. Yet no matter how nervous you were you began sharing how important Remus and his love was.
âRemus,â You sucked in your breath shakily as you continued, âRemus my love where do I begin? Before I dated you and became your girlfriend I was unfortunately experiencing a love that was cruel. A love that didn't make me feel warm inside. I had to go through so much pain in order to have this. Remus you make my world turn, you have moved so many mountains just to see me smile. I used to tell my mom when I was younger that love was never a color. And when I dated people before you it remained black and white. But Remus,â You stopped again this time letting another tear fall from your face as you attempted, to continue. Remus squeezed your hand and smiled as a tear gently fell from his eyes. âRemus my love you made love become golden. You showed me that love could be daylight. I fully stepped into the daylight with you. I let you become my light and my love. Remus I vow to you that I will continue to love you, cherish you, and stand by you until we grow old. Remus I want to be the person you grow old with and confide in. Remus you became the very thing that I love, when our kids ask what love is I want them to look at you and know. I want them to know that you define love for me. Remus I promise to love you until my dying breath and promise to show you every day until then.â Both of you smiled tears brimming both of your eyes as you smiled at one another. The guests who watched the wedding were all fully in tears. Everyone including Sirius was left in tears. Through tears Sirius smiled at his two friends.
âYou may now kiss the bride.â Moving out of the way Remus leaned in dipping you back and connected your lips. You felt sparks flying as you kissed and suddenly everything that you two had gone through had been worth it. The pain you had felt not seeing him at yule ball was worth it, the heartbreak that got you guys together was worth it. Everything for this kiss sealing your marriage was worth it. Suddenly your love was daylight.

a/n: i know i said i was gonna take a break but⊠i just HAD to get this out of my system đ€
summary: fluff!! james helps you do your makeup
Jamesâ hand comes up to cup your cheek and you bristle, giggling as his fingertip tickles your nose.
âBabe, seriously. I canât work if you donât keep still,â he murmurs, bemusement lacing his words as he repositions your face.
You apologize, biting down on your lower lip to stop the smile from spreading across your cheeks. You decide that he deserves some credit for his efforts to doll you up; so you try your best to stay put.
The tip of the eyeliner feels tingly against your skin as James traces it onto your eyelid. You sneak a glance at him, eyebrows furrowed in concentration and tongue jutting out of his rosy lips. Youâd give him a big fat kiss if it wouldnât ruin the make-up heâs been diligently working on for the past hour.
âHowâs it look?â
âShush,â he mutters, tilting his head slightly as he adjusts the wing on your other eye, squinting in an attempt to do some detailing.
Marleneâs band was doing a gig at the biggest pub in town, so you were going down with Lily and Mary to watch her play. The boys were invited too; but were more interested, according to Sirius, in going actual clubbing than listening to some emo rock band.
But your boyfriend had really wanted to spend the night with you, and he claimed that it was not just because you looked really hot in your little dress. So he decided to make it up to you by doing your make-up.
James lets go of your face to lean back and admire his work, and thatâs when you notice a dark smudge on his cheek. This time you canât stop the laughter from bubbling out of you.
âWhat?â he asks, horrified when you start to clutch your stomach. His expression only worsens your giggling, an amused smile slowly creeping its way onto his face.
You shake your head, pressing one hand to your mouth to muffle your laughter as you tug him towards you with the other.
Grabbing a wet wipe from beside you, you gently thumb at the eyeliner on his cheek. âYouâve got it on your face, idiot.â
âOh,â James mumbles, and your grin only widens when his cheeks redden. Itâs your turn to grab his face, trying your best to rub the stubborn smudge away. His glasses slide down his nose unceremoniously, and you suppress a smile as you push them back up.
You feel his eyes on you when you turn him this way and that, nails poking into his cheekbones. Then, slowly, a small smile makes its way onto his cheeks.
A soft sigh escapes his lips and you halt, locking eyes with him bemusedly. âWhat?â
âNothing, you ââ he sighs again. gazing at you with a soppy smile on his face. âYou look gorgeous, you know?â he mutters. âLike, youâre always pretty, but right now youâre extra pretty. I wish I could kiss you.â
Your heart stutters at his slushy mess of words, and you feel the overwhelming urge to leave your lipstick stains on him, every part of him you can reach.
A huff of laughter finds its way out of you, cheeks heating up embarrassingly. âI wanna kiss you too, hon. But this lipstickâs too cute.â
James pouts. âCuter than me?â
âOh, definitely,â you drawl, but you let him press his lips to yours anyway. He leaves the house later on with one black stain and six lip-shaped ones peppered all over his cheeks.
