ARCANE LEAGUE OF LEGENDS: 1x05 - "Everybody Wants to Be My Enemy" ↳ "So what'll it be, man or woman?"
i have spent so long trying to place who astarion reminds me of
his dry little sarcastic bits gets me every time and like it's automatically funny but it felt so familiar...
this bastard.
and some more similar comparisons i think
thank you for coming to my ted talk
big enjoyer of shitty media that i would never recommend to people ever in my life
having just finished the prophecy arc in valhalla the decision NOT to make eivor a hidden one is more baffling to me than ever - were they worried that they were retreading ac4's plot or something? because the groundwork is there!! it's all there!! her entire story is about how the search for glory to the exclusion of all else is ultimately meaningless and it's more important to love (and be loved by) the people she cares about! and all of that is encapsulated in the prophecy arc right at the end of the game: eivor turns away from odin and rejects his desire for her to become just like him, craving glory, to be the last one standing. she stabs him with her hidden blade (!!) that was given to her by basim and hytham (the former still being her friend for all intents and purposes here!) and turns to her friends and family, including hytham front and centre. she embraces her father and shares a tender moment with him after spending her entire life abhorring his legacy and thinking that making it right was all that mattered! even when the hamtunscire arc begins she says she's going to join guthrum because she owes it to her clan and her people - not just because she wants the glory. this would evolve so naturally into her seeing the hidden ones as a better cause, acting in the shadows without credit for the betterment of others (including her clan), which are qualities she snubs at first but clearly still values and appreciates when you consider her conversation with hytham in the last chapter. it makes sense! it's all there! WHY
Why haven't I seen anyone talking about this?! This is adorable 😂
Astarion: "Phew, I don't think Minsc will find me - "
Minsc: "ASTARION! My old friend!"
Astarion: "SON OF A BITCH!"
Happy Valentine's Day to my fellow Basim fans!
Maybe it's just my proximity to middle age, but for my money, Halsin is the most attractive romanceable character in BG3 by a mile. He's kind. He's courteous. He takes responsibility for his mistakes and undertakes to fix them without roping you into a bunch of drama about it and then goes on to help you save the world just because he likes you. He's a leader with a healthy ambivalence about leadership. He's effectively an eco-socialist with deep and abiding convictions about the treatment of the underprivileged, especially children. He is passionately romantic about you while also decrying the constraints and jealousies compulsory monogamy. AND he's built like a brick shithouse and will fuck your brains out. I'm just not seeing what's not to love about this man.
A dip in the lake
You just know that Basim must have been insanely popular during his time as a trainee at Alamut. He's comfortable with all types of people (from his background with scholars and pick pockets), including both adults and children. He's kind, clever, charismatic, idealistic, a little bit cocky, with a hint of mystery (the trauma).
What I'm saying is that he definitely had lots of friends and admirers. I personally don't believe he ever let anyone get super close to him (something that just got worse after accepting Loki's memories), I do think after the events of ACV that he still had people out there who were as confused as Hytham about Basim's "betrayal".
I love loading every Selunite and Lathanderite piece of equipment I can find onto Shadowheart. Find a holy idol of the Moonmaiden? Guess whose inventory I'm putting it in! Blood of Lathander? Here, hold the shiny sunlight that drove your goddess over the edge in the first place! We are going to completely and utterly disappoint the Nightsinger in every way I can find!
It's almost a shame she isn't coded to respond to these things, but I like to imagine Shar is glaring at me. Selûne and Lathander are probably giving me thumbs up.
