i have a lot of thoughts of the proton prison escape (good ones!) but i can only like vaguely string together words. and half of it doesn't make sense. so *vaguely gestures in the video's direction*
(mega spoilers for the proton escape btw)
elytra also described as wings and the prison cells being described as cages lending to birdcage metaphor and parrots being, well, birds. ken constantly trying to keep the bird in the cage for its own safety; ken trying to keep everyone in the prison to keep them safe. ultimately the escape requiring elytra (wings) and ken clipping his own wings and remaining in the cage (he stays behind and let's parrot escape) but instead of for his own safety it's to protect everyone else's.
parrot and ken's shared mindset of "i want to keep everyone safe" but parrot's way of doing that is getting every single person out of the prison ("i made a promise i'd get everyone out safely") while ken's is keeping every single person in the prison ("and i told you to stay safe"). ultimately both are on each other's side, both want the best for each other, but what Ken wants is selfish, removing the freedom of all his friends to keep them safe.
the references to stasis chambers throughout the video, ken mentions the prison having rings of bubble elevators and how it's like a big stasis chamber. This moment then leads to the first point of tension between parrot and ken's conflicting thoughts during this escape. Then the group's way to get someone to sneak in contraband is through a stasis chamber that ends up being Ken and Parrot who have to build. It's ALSO where Ken and Parrot's big conflict happen and Ken almost breaks the stasis (and their way out). Stasis chambers are then mentioned again after ken is left inside the prison, ken telling everyone to go pull the stasis at his base. The stasis chamber is always present lol, it's cool. I don't even know if Ken's wording of describing the rings as a big stasis chamber was intentional but it's fun to think about.
Ken being stuck in the prison that HE designed and even the outer walls that he didn't know about had parts taken from his designs... sort of nudging to Ken's Daedalus Labyrinth Prison and the myth of Daedalus being trapped in his own labyrinth.
If we take the elytra as wings like how i mentioned above then the last scene almost parallels the fall of icarus, except Parrot DOESN'T fail. Also should be noticed that it's the opposite of the Icarus story where they HAVE to fly straight up. Idk I just thought the idea of Ken being similar to daedalus and the concept of having wings in his "labyrinth" was cool.
AND THE SCENE BETWEEN KENADIAN AND PARROT WHERE KEN TELLS PARROT TO ESCAPE AND THE MUSIC BUILDING IN THAT MOMENT AND THE WAY KEN DELIVERS THE LINE its so good.
