Because peoples reaction to this is disturbing to say the least. The amount of people that immediatly jump on the pandering to pedophiles bandwagon is incredibly high. Is that really the first thing that comes to your mind when you see this? It's a festival where characters dress up in bridal gowns. Guess who like to dress up? Young girls. The fact that so many people sees Sanaki in a bridal gown and immedialty writes it off as something disgusting designed purely for pedophiles makes me worried for the people writing this.

So the kneejerk reactions, bandwagons and pitchforks is the reason I want to defend it.

"Technically it's not worth defending.

But on the other hand I get just a little bit annoyed when loud people are wrong. I also find it.... curious... how so many people instantly jumped to the "They're catering to pedos" conclusion. That's... that's the first thing you thought about? Not "Well, she's probably just dressing up" like a lot of little girls do in real life weddings(that absolutely no one is trying to marry off). Or that "Oh, is she a flower girl"? that are in many real life weddings, that again absolutely no one tries to marry off.

No, the very first thing that many people said was "OMG, why did IS make a child bride?"

Additionally it seems like the story hasn't been set straight. TC here is saying her Japanese title literally means Sanaki is a bride, where as someone else is suggesting she has a "bridal appearance" which sounds a lot like dressup(which if you have a problem with, you essentially have a problem with 99% of children because they love to play dress up).

Now obviously I'm totally against children marrying. If that is indeed the case, then I would be utterly against this. But we don't know for sure that's the case. People are just jumping on the outrage bandwagon because it makes them feel a little better about themselves.

So why am I "defending this"? Because it makes me feel a little better about myself when I go against the pitchforks and torches. Because no, I don't think IS had ill intentions when they made this banner, and because instantly jumping to the pedo bait theory is really frigging weird when there are several much more likely, 100% chaste explanations behind this."
