Huge fan of human connection, and love, and loss, and laying in the dark at night with the fan on thinking about things other people taught me and crying grateful happy tears
what people who didn't grow up by the sea don't realise is that death at sea isn't a threat it's a part of life that you have to and will come to terms with. you can play it as safe as you like but at the end of the day if you choose to stay close to the coast you are entering a contract with the sea that she can demand you honour the terms of at any time. there's a reason so many old gods and eldritch horrors are ocean based. that's literally just what it's like. the premise of jjk is that children’s innocence should be protected it doesn’t matter how gifted or strong they are and it’s about breaking cycles of abuse and about the children who weren’t cared for turning curses into blessings both literally and figuratively bc sorcerers turn cursed negative energy into a force for good, and gojo turned his heartbreak and betrayal from geto into caring for and mentoring megumi, whose name literally means BLESSING, and the other central struggle of jjk being how do we save those we love and who CAN we save, and is love a curse or a blessing, and gojo, after his heart is broken by geto, says the only people he can save are those who are already ready to be saved by another, and that’s megumi. megumi who tells yuji, fine, if you can’t save everyone then save me. megumi, the blessing, who is ready to be saved, unlike geto, the strongest curse user, who is unable to be saved bc he is lost in the twisted thinking he was left to because he was a CHILD left alone. and whether the series ends happily or whoever survives or if it is devastating, i believe in some way geto and gojo’s love cursed the world, bc gojo couldn’t bring himself to stop geto, and bc they were so strong together that people left them to their own devices despite being children, but megumi and yuji’s love will save it, whether or not either of them will survive, bc yuji was cursed by his grandfather to save who he can save, even if it’s just one person, and that one person may well be megumi, the reason he is able to keep going. and yuji, the protagonist will be able to win in some way because right at the beginning megumi saved him, for “personal reasons” as gojo says, literal love at first sight, but it won’t be who is the strongest that matters but whose love is strongest bc gojo says to yuta love is the strongest curse of all and that is the only thing that is able to beat geto in the end and -

guillermo del toro’s pinocchio is a beautiful film but my god no one has adapted that story like neverafter. you can never look at it the same way again after listening to lou wilson, a black man, explaining that he chose to play as pinocchio because it’s a story about a little boy who isn’t allowed to make mistakes. that in pinocchio's story, he is fundamentally barred from childhood at once upon a time. he must earn something that everyone else is granted from birth. the other boys get to tell lies and play and get into trouble, but when pinocchio does the same thing there are grave and violent consequences. his pinocchio is trying to understand why the world is so unfair, why the rules are so different for him, why everyone else gets to be a real boy.
and I think about it every day.
i will never stop being 6 years old and lonely. i will never stop being 11 years old and lonely. i will never stop being 19 years old and lonely. i will never stop

oh fuck *falls back into old habits* *screen fades to black* *level loading* TIP: your belief that you are incapable of changing for the better will become a self fulfilling prophecy if left unchallenged
thinking about how when you experience a lot of shame in your formative years (indirectly, directly, as abuse or just as an extant part of your environment) it becomes really difficult to be perceived by other people in general. the mere concept of someone watching me do anything, whether it's a totally normal activity or something unfamiliar of embarrassing, whether I'm working in an excel spreadsheet or being horny on main, it just makes my skin crawl and my brain turn to static because I cannot convince myself that it's okay to be seen and experienced. because to exist is to be ashamed and embarrassed of myself, whether I'm failing at something or not, because my instinctive reaction to anyone commenting on ANYTHING I'm doing is to crawl into a hole and die. it's such a bizarre and dehumanizing feeling to just not be able to exist without constantly thinking about how you are being Perceived. ceaseless watcher give me a god damn break.
Some disses are made for clout, or industry drama, or to further a career, build a rep, or promote an upcoming project. Others are made because you deadass fucking HATE a man. Drake is turning to the crowd for approval after every bar, Kendrick is holding direct eye contact and not blinking.
We have become the capitol

No one gets nemesis and hate-based relationships like V. E. Schwab. Nobody.
It's about the intimacy. It's about the knowing one another even if you don't like one another. It's about how respect doesn't necessarily soften into affection or friendliness. Or conversely, how the deeper the friendship, the more twisted the hate once it's corrupted. It's about your reflection being the most like you but also your polar opposite. It's about having someone who fits the negative space in your life like you fit theirs.
