You met Jungkook when you were in your first year of college. You went to Yonsei University to pursue a science major because your parents encouraged you to. Taehyung on the other hand, was told to go into engineering but he applied for a management program instead and…well didn’t tell your parents until after he finished his first year at Seoul National University. 

Of course, you didn’t do well. You dreaded it. It literally made no sense to you and you were basically scrambling to at least pass the classes you had. And sometimes, you didn’t even pass. After your first semester, you sat down with your parents and had a long discussion about it. A very long one. There was a good amount of fighting until your parents ultimately agreed. 

You applied for a marketing program at SNU and thankfully got in. 

On the day of your move, Taehyung slept in and your mom ended up being the one to take you to your dorm when your dumbass brother forgot. You started half way through the year so Taehyung was already living on campus. 

So when you got onto campus, you told your mom to wait in the car while you went to fetch Taehyung. He was a little shit so you didn’t care if you bothered him.

You marched into his dorm building and immediately went up to his door and banged on it. You waited a few seconds before it suddenly swung open. Only not to reveal your brother, but another guy. A very good looking guy. And he was shirtless.

Your mouth practically hung open at the sight of the man with fluffy black hair, a chiseled jawline, and a body sculpted to look like adonis. 

Let’s just say, you haven’t been around that many attractive guys before so you had no idea what to do.

You noticed he was looking at you in amusement as you gaped at him. Your cheeks turn red at his smirk. 

“Like what you see?” He asked. You cleared your throat, feeling embarrassed. 

“Uh, is Taehyung here?” You asked. He raised an eyebrow and looked back into his room.

“Get out.” He said bluntly. You looked at him in confusion when suddenly he opened the door wider to reveal a barely dressed girl with messy hair and smeared makeup.

You widen your eyes in surprise. The girl was struggling to keep all her belongings together in her arms as she brushed past you with a glare. 

You scoffed at her audacity before looking back at Jungkook who was now leaning against the doorway. 

“Don’t look too surprised, this happens quite a lot” He said, proudly. You poke your cheek with your tongue and shake your head. 

“You are one overconfident asshole.” You said sincerely. He smirked again before looking you up and down.

You weren’t wearing the most flattering clothes since you were so caught up in moving, you’re just wearing sweatpants and a crop top. 

Feeling uncomfortable again, you let out a sigh. “You didn’t answer my question” 

“Clearly he isn’t if a girl came out of here barely dressed.” He said sarcastically. You rolled your eyes at him. “Why? What do you want from him?” 

“None of your business.”

“Well, all I can say is you’re not his type.” He said. You gazed at him in surprise. Did he really just say what you think he said?

“What?”

“Tae, he won’t go for someone like you.”

“What the hell is that supposed to mean?” You ask, extremely confused.

“We have different types, and I know that you’re not his” He slyly said. Your mouth dropped in realization. You have to admit, that was a little bit slick but you’re not gonna fall into that. You’ve watched a lot of kdramas, you know who to fall for and who to avoid.

You were about to reply when the door on your right swings open. You suddenly see your brother walking out with someone with blonde hair and a little bit shorter following him closely behind. They were talking about going to a cafe down the street. He then looked up and was surprised to see you standing in front of his dorm room with an angry expression.

“Uh?” He said dumbly.

You gave him a stern look. His eyes widened in realization before he held up his hands in defense. “I’m sorry I’m sorry!”

You calmed yourself down before you ended up prancing at your brother. “Just come on” You replied and started walking towards the exit. 

He apologized to his friend and looked at Jungkook with an awkward smile before following you out.

“Who was that?” The blond guy asked. Jungkook looked at his friend with an amused smile.

“No idea, Jimin-ah”

After that odd encounter, Jungkook became a steadfast person in your life. He ended up being in some of your classes along with Taehyung. And let’s just say, you guys didn’t get along that well.

Jungkook was an irritating guy to be around at tha time. He was rich, attractive and loved attention. So of course there were girls lining up to get into his pants and he spent the majority of his time partying. 

You got along with your roommate Miyeon and spent most of your time with her. She was friends with your brother's group of friends who happen to include Jungkook.

So of course, you spent a lot of time with him. But you guys were mostly arguing with each other to really consider it a friendship. 

That was until one day when Miyeon practically begged you to join her at a party, and one of the random guys started getting a little too touchy with you. Especially when you were trying to break away from him. It wasn’t until he drunkenly started to harshly grip your arm and tried dragging you up the stairs, Jungkook stepped in and got him away from you.

He stuck to your side like glue the entire night and that’s when the dynamic of your relationship changed. You started seeing him in a different light. You spent a lot of time with him, he took you out on spontaneous adventures, and made you see life in a different perspective.

The day he asked you out was probably the day you remembered the most, it was the sweetest thing ever, and you knew that you wanted to be with this man forever. 

Years later, when you asked him why he helped you out that day, he told you he never wants to see you hurt. And something inside him just acted and he never regretted it one bit. 

He was always a person who listened to his gut instinct. But the downside about him is that he lets his emotions get the best of him sometimes. 

Which leads you here.

Right now.

“Sorry isn’t gonna fix this, not this time–” He said before walking out, he opened the door to only reveal Taehyung and Miyeon who were about to enter. He ignored them and made his way out of the room. You bury your face in your hands as you silently cry. 

Mieyon and Taehyung look at each other alarmed before your best friend slowly makes her way towards you. She sat on the chair beside you and brought you into her arms as you cried. She made eye contact with Taehyung before he huffed out a breath and left to catch up with Jungkook.

“Jungkook-ah” Taehyung said, running to meet up with him. But Jungkook was relentless. He kept walking and Taehyung was trying to catch up to him before he could leave.

“Jungkook-ah, wait” He said out of breath. Taehyung managed to reach him in front of his car. 

“I don't want to talk to you.” Jungkook said, as he was about to open the car door.  

Taehyung stepped in front of him to block him away from leaving. “Kook, just hear her out. She has a reason why she kept the twins from you.” 

Jungkook scoffed before running a frustrated hand through his hair. “What's the point? She hid very valuable information from me. For 6 years, I’ve wondered what the hell I did for her to possibly leave just to find out that she–” 

“Kook, she did what she had to do for you” 

“How is hiding my kids from me for 6 years beneficial for me?!” He exclaimed. His eyes were red with tears as he struggled to keep himself composed. But he can slowly feel the calmness going away to be left feeling rage and sadness. 

“And it doesn't help the fact that you’ve known all this time.” He snipped. Taehyung let out a breath and looked down onto the floor.

“I wanted to tell you.” He said. Jungkook scoffed again. He walked up to Taehyung and stared at him deep in the eyes.

“You just wanted to take my kids from me. That's what it was huh? What do they call you Appa instead of me?” He accused. Taehyung lightly pushed him away so that there was distance. He felt Jungkook’s anger and rightfully so. But this was going too far.

“You better watch your mouth”

“Oh come on. You two were always close back then, I wouldn't be surprised if she replaced you with me!” He said. Taehyung narrowed his eyes on his best friend. 

“She's my sister! Of course I’ll be fucking there for her!” Taehyung said back. Jungkook was taken aback. You guys never told him this. 

“What the fuck are you talking about?” He replied.

Taehyung groaned in frustration. “I get we never told you but come on, it’s so obvious that we’re twins. Just look at us!” He said. “I wanted to tell you, so did she. But when she came to me asking for my help, I always knew I got her back.” 

Jungkook let out a sigh. “That doesn't change the fact that you kept it from me. Two of the most important people in my life kept something as big as this and I’m not sure I can ever forgive you for this” 

“Kook, just–”

“No, just leave me alone. Tell the hospital to send the bill to Jin-hyung and I’ll pay it off later, I’m not dealing with this right now or else I’ll do something I’ll regret.” He said. Taehyung moved away from the door, knowing Jungkook needs his space right now.

He got into the car and quickly drove off. Taehyung watched as his friend drove off into the distance. Letting out a frustrated sigh, he made his way back into the hospital.

Miyeon told you to go to the bathroom to try and compose yourself. You knew you needed to stay strong for your kids. You can deal with Jungkook’s wrath another time. 

But after seeing the heartbreak all over his face. You felt the guilt eating you up alive. You let out a breath and made your way out of the bathroom. You were too busy looking down at the floor that you ended up bumping into someone. 

Looking up, you see your brother with a solemn expression. “You okay?” He asked. You shook your head before leaning in for a hug.

Taehyung kissed the top of your head as he held you close. “Did you speak to him?” You asked. He nodded his head.

“He’s angry.” 

You knew he was, and he had all the reason to be. But some part of you hoped that Taehyung could make him understand. 

“I think you should tell him.” He said. You looked at him with wide eyes. “I–”

“Y/N-ah, I helped you all these years because it was what you thought was the right decision at the time. But it’s been 6 years, and you promised a long time ago to reach out to him but you never did. It’s time.” He told you. Letting out a sigh, you knew he was right.

“But I’m scared–” You said, mouth wobbling.

“I know, but he deserves to know” 

Unexpectedly, Miyeon walked into the hallway out of breath. “I was looking everywhere for you guys” She said. “Jayeon’s awake” 

The three of you scrambled into Jayeon’s hospital room. You walk in to see your twins sitting on the bed. Jayeon still had his oxygen mask on but his eyes were open. Jiyeon was holding out a book and reading for both of them.

They looked up at you when you entered.

“Eomma, Jayeonie is awake!” Your daughter said. You gave her a kiss on the forehead before looking down at your son.

“How are you feeling, bug?” 

He nodded his head at you. Indicating he’s feeling better. Taehyung walked up on the other side of the bed. “Hey buddy, guess what?” 

Jayeon cutely tilted his head silently asking “what?” You and Taehyung giggle at his reaction. 

“You’ll start feeling better soon. Superman came and promised he’ll help you get better!” He said. You looked at him surprised and he nodded his head.

You felt bad, you didn't want Jungkook to do this for you.

Miyeon walked up beside you and rubbed your back. “It's the least he could do as their father.” She whispered. You nodded your head before sitting down to take care of your kids.

It’s currently the next day and Jungkook has not slept a wink. After he left the hospital, he went home and drank 5 glasses of whiskey. He dozed off for an hour and then his mind snapped back to the thought of you and his beautiful kids.

The day you left him, he looked for you everywhere. Tirelessly searching for you, asking your friends, trying to contact your parents, even going to your dorm. But nothing. It’s like you disappeared out of thin air.

At first, he thought you just needed space and left for a week. But then one week turned into two, then a month, then a year passed, then six years passed and you have barely left his mind.

As much as he hates to admit it, you’ve left a scar in him that he’s barely recovered from even if he denies it. How could you not? 

He loved you so much. Your fiery personality, your beauty and the way you care for him. You were everything he’s ever wanted.

Getting that call from you changed everything for him that day. It’s been so hard for him to fully open his heart and to trust people. 

The one thing that’s kept him going was his job. He worked harder than ever after you left. When he became the CEO four years ago, he vowed to do as well as he could. 

And that's what he did. The stocks are high, his business is blooming.

It was a dream come true.

But that dark cloud of doubt was always looking over his head. A cloud that made him feel like he wasn't good enough. And that seemed to heighten much more when he saw you again. 

When he saw his children for the first time.

And the fact that they have no idea who he is.

You made a decision for him that he should've been a part of. And he’s never felt more livid. The resentment seemed to double in size over the last few days and he hated it. But he couldn't stop himself. It just happened.

“Mr. Jeon, Y/N is here to see you.” Soo-ah said to him over the intercom. Jungkook felt panic in his chest for a few seconds before the anger returned and completely diminished it.

Why the hell are you here? You don't work here anymore. You shouldn't be here.

But what if it's about his son? 

Letting out a sigh he pressed the talk button. “Let her up.”

It's barely 9:00 A.M and he’s already getting a headache. 

You nervously make your way up the elevator after Soo-ah allows you to go up. After your conversation with Taehyung, you knew he was right. You had to speak to him. You weren’t sure if you were ready to tell him the reason why you left but you had to try. You at least should explain that you didn’t mean to keep him away from his kids for so long.

You felt guilt eating you alive over and over again for the last six years. You’ve always wanted to see Jungkook with them. They're just like him in so many ways. But you chose to keep them safe away from harm and to make sure Jungkook got to live out his life long goal.

But you know that there’s a large chance this conversation could go south. 

But you have to try.

Your thoughts are interrupted at the sound of the elevator beeping, indicating you’ve arrived at Jungkook’s office. You let out a nervous breath and shook your hands in front of you to calm your nerves.

You slowly walk out and make your way in front of the large mahogany doors. This sight always scares you, it’s the same doors that make you feel so small.

But you have to do this. Gathering all the courage you can muster, you finally knock on the door.

“Come in” You heard after a few seconds. 

You open the door only to reveal the love of your life sitting behind his desk with a blank expression. There was a time when you could read him like an open book, but it seems like that boy you knew long ago was gone. 

Now is left a man, hard and cold, a man that holds nothing but hatred for you.

You walk up to the front of his desk and bow. You hold your body at a 90 degree angle as nervously inhale. 

“I came to apologize.” You said.

Jungkook let out a sigh. “Stand up and sit, this is embarrassing.” 

You blushed and listened to him. You sat down on the chair in front of him and nervously fidgeted with your hands. You were about to speak but he interrupted you.

“I don’t care what you have to say, if it’s not about Jayeon or Jiyeon, you have no business being in my building.” 

You look down at your lap. “Jungkook please, just let me explain…” You pleaded.

“Explain what? That you hid my fucking children away from me for 6 years?” He snarled. You let out a sad sigh and looked at him in the eyes. 

“Jungkook, I had a reason.” You told him sternly. You can understand his anger but you won’t let him disrespect you.

“What reason could you possibly have to keep them from me? Did you not trust that I would be here every step of the way? I thought you knew me better than that.” He said sadly. He was angry. You saw the dark circles under his eyes and the permanent frown etched onto his face.

You were the cause of it.

“You’ve lied to me, over and over again for years. You left me with no explanation, just that my work was too demanding. I thought you understood me?” He asked. You shook your head.

“I did understand you, it wasn’t an easy decision to make!” You try saying.

“But it’s a decision you took away from me.” 

You felt your eyes prick with tears. He was correct. You did take the decision away from him. But you had no choice. You were under so much stress because of what happened that you struggled your entire pregnancy, even getting to the point where you affected your own son from it. 

He runs a frustrated hand through his hair. “Jungkook, I wanted you here with me, trust me I did” You tried. But he wouldn’t listen.

“I don’t believe you.” 

You felt the tears slip down your face. You tried to explain but you froze. There was just so much fear in your heart that you’re afraid of losing your kids. 

You’ve always thought that one day, things will blow over and you’d happily live with Jungkook and your twins but you knew it was wishful thinking. 

You caused this. There’s nobody else to blame but yourself. 

“I’ve always thought you were the perfect person, but you proved me wrong yet again, Y/N. You’re conniving and selfish.” He finished. You processed his words and felt your heart sink in your chest.

The door to his office opened to reveal Jimin and a security guard. You got up from your chair, knowing you’re not welcome here anymore.

Right before you were about to leave you turned to him. “Jayeon is awake. You should visit him before his surgery…You didn’t have to do that, you know.”

“It’s my responsibility as his father.” He said.

You nodded your head and walked out. You made eye contact with Jimin and he saw how broken you looked. He looked at your retreating figure and then his friend before letting out a sigh.

Jungkook got up and went to his mini bar and took out a bottle of whiskey. Jimin closed the door to his office, wanting to have a conversation with him in private.

“What the fuck do you want?” He angrily asked. Jimin looked at his friend in sympathy before walking up to him. He took the glass away from the man, knowing it can't be good for him to drown himself in alcohol at work.

“I want to be here for my friend.” He said. Jungkook scoffed in response before sitting back on his chair and burying his face in his hands.

“I just can’t fucking believe her.” 

Jimin let out another sigh and leaned on his friend's desk. “I know you’re angry but you didn’t need to be so harsh on her. She came here to try to explain why she did what she did.” 

Jungkook looked at him with narrowed eyes. “Don’t fucking tell me you knew this whole time too.” 

“Nah, not the whole time. Only a few years ago.” He said. Jungkook looked like he was about to burst in anger again but Jimin luckily stopped him. “And before you start yelling…It’s not like she did it on purpose. When Jayeon was 3, he had to go into emergency surgery because he fainted in daycare. I was still living with Taehyung at the time and I offered to drive him to the airport to go to Jeju. That’s where she was staying.” 

Jungkook listened to his friend speak. He felt his heart squeeze at the thought of his son suffering all these years. “He was born with a heart defect, so he’s never been able to do the normal things that children should. Taehyung told me that Y/N has been working nonstop to support herself and the kids, and pay for Jayeon to have correction surgery. Especially after that day when she nearly lost him. He told me she was a mess.”

Jungkook felt bad for you but he still couldn’t help but feel a little bit of anger. “But she chose to leave me. I could’ve helped her, she never would’ve been in this situation in the first place if she just told me.” He replied angrily.

“Look Jungkook-ah. It’s not my place, nor is it Taehyung’s to tell you why Y/N left you. I get it’s frustrating to be left in the dark but this is a conversation you should have with her. But clearly you’re not in the right headspace to be doing that right now.” 

Jungkook leaned his head back in his chair, willing himself not to cry.

He’s feeling overwhelmed. He just…He just wants answers.

“If you don’t want to talk to her. Talk to your father instead, Maybe he’ll explain what Y/N can’t.” Jimin finished.

Jungkook looked at his friend surprised. What the hell does his dad have anything to do with this? Of course he knew his father never really liked you. But he never cared. He wanted to be with you and only you.

A million thoughts ran through his mind, trying to figure out what could possibly be the cause of this. And one thing really screamed out, indicating something that he should’ve seen before.

His father spoke to you.

But you would come to him if he did that right? And why would he speak to you without him knowing?

He looked at Jimin with a determined expression before getting up.

He needed to pay his father a visit.

You were sitting in Jayeon’s hospital room a few days after meeting with Jungkook. You went home to refresh yourself while Taehyung took care of the kids. When you came back, he and Miyeon took Jiyeon out for some donuts while you stayed with your son.

He was currently taking a nap. A side effect from the medication they give him to ease his pain a little bit. He’s going into surgery tomorrow morning and you have to admit you’re nervous. 

It’s a risky surgery and it can go both ways. But it would be worse if they didn’t operate on him. You know your son is a fighter, but you couldn’t help but feel scared that something can go wrong. 

You run your fingers through your son's hair as you watch him sleep. Him and Jiyeon are the light of your life. Even on your darkest days, just one look at their smiles can make it 100x better. 

But seeing his little body on this hospital bed made your heart clench in pain. He was so little, he shouldn’t have to go through this at his age. You couldn’t help but feel a little bitter for it but you know, it’s nobody’s fault. 

Things happen and you just hope everything will be alright.

You looked at your son's face. He looks like a little version of Jungkook. It always made your heart swell because it was everything you’ve ever wanted. The only downside, Jungkook wasn’t there to watch the twins grow up. You thought back to your conversation with him and you felt yourself close up in shame.

You barely got the words you wanted out. It’s like seeing him again made you forget everything you wanted to say. 

You wanted to tell him everything, but you’re scared. What if he still doesn’t understand? Would he resent you even more? Accuse you of lying? 

You had no idea.

And that’s what scared you. 

You were so deep in thought that you didn’t notice someone coming into the room. You gasp in surprise at the sight of a tall man standing in front of you, only to relax when you notice it was Jungkook.

He didn’t look at you. He was just staring at your son in admiration. You cleared your throat and looked back at the sleeping boy.

“What are you doing here?” You softly ask. 

“You said I can visit him.” He said, surprisingly there wasn’t any anger in his tone. You sneaked a glance at him only to notice he was looking at you already.

You shifted in your seat uncomfortably. “Where’s Jiyeon?” He asked. 

“She went out with Tae and Miyeon, they went to get her donuts.” You replied. 

He let out a small smile. “She has a sweet tooth, huh?” 

You chuckled in response. “I wonder who she gets it from?” You teased. Jungkook let out a soft laugh at your response. 

Jungkook has the biggest sweet tooth. You were always buying him something sweet from the cafe near the school or surprising him with candy or chocolate on random days. His eyes always lit up at the sight before he happily ate it. 

“What about him?” He asked. You look back at your son with a smile. 

“He likes ice cream, but he’s more of a salty person like me” 

He nods his head. “Looks like they have qualities from the both of us.” He said. You smile in response before silence settles over you.

“I know I apologized already, but I really am sorry for keeping them from you. I didn’t mean to–” You started.

“I know…My dad told me what happened.” 

You looked at him in surprise. “What–”

Your conversation was cut short at the sight of your daughter walking in with a pink donut in her little hands and your brother walking in with Miyeon following closely behind. 

This seems to happen a lot, it seems like you and Jungkook can’t have a conversation with yourselves without being interrupted. 

Jiyeon looked at you with a bright smile and a messy face that’s covered in pink frosting. Jungkook was looking at the little girl with a fond smile. She turned to look at him and you saw Jungkook nervously glance at you. 

You gave Jiyeon a small nod when she pointed at him. She slowly walked up to him with a smile.

“Are you superman?” she asked. Jungkook looked at her in confusion. 

“Uncle Tae Tae said that Superman came to help Jayeonie.” She started. “He wears a suit when he’s undercover, is that why you’re wearing a suit? You’re superman right?”

The adults in the room let out a small laugh at her explanation. Jungkook bent down to look at her properly. 

“Yes, I’m superman.” He said. Jiyeon’s face broke out into a beaming smile before she dove in for a hug. She wrapped her arms around Jungkook’s frame with a big smile and you saw Jungkook tense in surprise.

“Yay! Superman is here to help Jayeonie!” She said with a smile. Jungkook relaxed in her embrace before wrapping his arms around her small frame. You saw his eyes glistening with tears as he held his daughter for the first time.

You on the other hand, you let out a few tears at the sight but tried to compose yourself. There was so much you and Jungkook needed to speak about but right now, you just want to enjoy seeing Jungkook hold his daughter. 

You looked at Taehyung and he had a fond smile on his face. Miyeon was standing beside him, squealing at the adorable sight.

Tomorrow Jayeon will go into surgery, until then…You just hope things will get better from here.
