Erm...I đđ your content, so I was wondering, can I get some Kaiser x Pregnant Y/n head canons, plzđŤśđž
Michael Kaiser is a man that many people admires because of his life, his skill, his looks, and many more. Many thinks that his most precious treasure is his career, but what they don't know that his wife and his soon to be child is his most precious treasure in his life.

Kaiser who doesn't let you do the household chores and always tells you to rest
"Love, didn't I tell you to rest? let the maids do those things." Kaiser said as he ordered the maids and leads you to the bedroom.
Kaiser who tries to make your favorite foods because he knows that you only crave the foods that he only cooks.
"My love, does this taste good for you? Should I add a little bit of salt?" Kaiser said as he holds the spoon for you "Nope! it's all goods, it's tasty as usual Micha!" You told him as you taste the food.
Kaiser who prioritizes you over anything, even soccer and the interviews!
"Micha.. that's the 3rd interview that you rejected this week, are you sure you don't want to be interviewed?" you asked as you brushed his hair. "You're more important than that damn interviews. Let me prioritize you, love." Kaiser said as he snuggled closer to you "So clingy..." you told him as you continue to play with his hair. "Only for you, my love." he said as he falls asleep to your touch.
Kaiser who's waiting for he gender reveal so he can buy the baby stuffs already.
"Loveeeeee, what's the gender of our baby?" Micha whined as he shakes your shoulders gently. "Patience, we will know after 2 minutes." you told him as you stop him from shaking your shoulders. "2 minutes feels like 2 hours.." he said as he sulked "So dramatic.. I hope our Son won't be as dramatic as you." you told him while waiting for his reaction. "It's a boy?! oh my god, I'll be right back love, I'm gonna buy the things now!" he said as he rushed out. "the hell?"
Kaiser who decorates the baby's room with baby stuff and both of your pictures.
"Micha, it's 3 in the morning. You can decorate that tomorrow.." you told him as you try to pull him out of the room. "But love, I need to make the baby's room perfect!" he told you as he admires the room "It already is perfect, but let's sleep now okay?" "okay.. I love you."
Kaiser who announced it to the whole world that he's gonna become a dad.
"Well of course, I won again as usual. But this game, I won it for my baby boy and for my wife." he told the interviewer as he smiles and shows the camera his ring
Kaiser who cried as he held his son in his arms.. he waited long for this and he couldn't be more happier. He has his own family now
"I promise that I will give you and your mama a good life.. I'll be the best dad for you, I promise that my son."
Kaiser who promised that he would be the best dad and the best husband for his family... He would do anything for his family, he would sacrifice his career for them if they asked.
"I would do anything for the both of you, anything. I promise you both that."

ἲ/ἠęę â having an intense kaiser brainrot rn. I'm tired so sorryyy if it seems rushed aaaa

It was all over.
With a simple and quick swing of his hand, he was the one to complete the divorce papers, feeling bitter at the feeling.
He noticed your demeanor relaxing at that, clearly irritated by your action. Why do you seem so relieved? Did you really anticipate this moment that much? Was he really the person you painted him to be?
He knew that he made mistakes, grave ones even. But there is nothing that couldnât have been prevented by a serious talk between the both of you.
But you were just so over his antics, leaving you alone for nights on end, not answering your calls, and making you worry about him- just overall not giving you the attention and love he once did at the beginning of your marriage.
Of course, you knew that he had a lot to do as a professional soccer player, but not being able to spend the little free time he had with his wife? Thatâs just ridiculous.
And to be honest, looking back at it, he didnât really recognize your pleas and worries- until it was too late.
âY/N donât you think we can still talk about this? I know I was an asshole but we can still work things out.â You scoffed at his pleas, taking ahold of the signed divorce documents before turning on your heels to walk out of the room, not sparing him another glance.
âYou wanna talk things out now? After I tried so many times? We're done, Kaiser. Thatâs where your stubborn head is bringing you.â He gritted his teeth at the sound of his last name, not daring to say another word, watching you walk out of his sight as he felt his heart sink.
He lost you. The one and only person he loved and cared for. His lovely wife. Why did he let things come so far? Why did he not listen to you and talked about your troubles? Why. Why. Why. The only word filling his mind.
â˛ę ę ę ęâ˛
Every day after the incident when he stepped into your once-shared home, a wave of coldness wrapped around him as he felt how lonely it was without you here.
You would usually greet him with tons of kisses, a bright smile on your face regardless of his sour expression, trying to cheer him up with food, a movie marathon, cuddles, or sometimes, mind-numbing head.
He plopped down onto the couch, sadness washing over him as he let out a shallow breath. Oh, how he missed cuddling with you, kissing you, touching you.
He just now realized the consequences of his reckless actions. He realized that you had slipped through his fingers. His head fell into his hands, fingers brushing through his hair in frustration.
He canât believe it. And he doesnât want to. Donât you know that he needs you? Loves you? You knew how hard he would be before entering the relationship, knowing his nature. So why would you give up on him- on the both of you so fast?
Did you find someone new while he was gone and overseas? Was that the reason for your quick decision? He felt sick in the stomach at the thought of someone other than him by your side. He couldnât stand the thought, face growing bitter.
His head soon came up into view, low eyes gazing around the empty room. He couldnât let you go, not in the wildest of his dreams could he imagine you away from him. So he knew what he had to do.
His body moved on its own, strolling into the bathroom to take a quick shower, cooling off from his steaming thoughts.
He will get you back at any cost. He will prove to you that he is still the same Michael you became fond of, the one you dedicated your life to by the vow around your finger.
â˛ę ę ę ęâ˛
The doorbell rang and he swiftly moved to open it. But as he saw who was standing at the doorstep, he felt his heart sink into his pants. "H-hey. How're you doing?" Your eyes halted right at the towel wrapped around his hip, torso bare for your eyes to see, blue rose tattoo still how you had in your memory, the inc decorating his toned figure. Then your gaze lifted to his face, hair damp and still wet from the shower, some waterdrops gliding down his neck, his wedding ring still attached to his finger.
You got back to yourself, pushing past him and ignoring his caring questioning. You just wanted to get the rest of your clothes, that's it. No need for small talk or anything else. He is no longer your husband, so you shouldn't feel obliged to answer him, or do anything for him.
But as you made your way through the place you once called home, you noticed how messy the place was. Of course, it would be, since he was barely at home, who would clean up the mess? You found yourself mouth open, close to questioning Michael about - this. And about his well-being. Even if you didn't want to admit it to yourself, deep down you really missed him those past weeks.
You missed his presence, and the feeling of his lips on yours whenever he came home, or the way his hands caressed your hips, asking you what was on the menu today. And you also missed those special intimate moments with him, when the both of you were so vulnerable for one another, moans and groans filling the bedroom as you gave each other your whole.
"Please Y/N, let's talk. It's been a few weeks and I really miss you." Careful steps approached your figure as you stood in front of your closet, picking out what you came for. "I just came to get my clothes. Like I said last time, there is nothing to talk about."
You purposely kept your back turned to him because you knew- you knew the moment you would turn around and look into those eyes of his, you would give in.
"Baby please," he began, hand softly placed on your shoulder, causing your movements to halt. "I miss you." His hand traveled down your arm, goosebumps appearing on your skin as you felt his hands intertwining with yours.
You promptly turned around, shoving his hand off of yours, heart filling with guilt at your action. "Don't you baby me." But you had to. It was over and the both of you had to move on.
Your furious eyes soon turned soft at your thoughts, eyes sparkling guilt inside them as you felt your eye sting, tears threatening to escape. He noticed, his hand flying up to your face to hold it, thumb stroking your cheek and making a mental note as you leaned into his touch. As he saw your hand ball into fists he noticed that you to still had your wedding ring on.
He pulled you towards his chest, your tears now flowing down with no way of stopping, taking out all your frustration and anger that you build up over the past years on him. "You're an asshole. Never once did you want to talk but now? Now after everything is done?"
He cooed at you, trying to stop your tears. He hated seeing you cry and he hated it even more that he was the reason for it. "I know. I'm sorry. Please just give me one more chance. I will prove it to you."
Your teary eyes stared up at him, sniffling as you inspected his face for any reaction. As you noticed the painful and guilty look on his face you made your decision. Your arms flew around his neck, lips attacking his, surprised gasp leaving his mouth before he leaned into the feeling.
God you missed this so much. Him, his lips, everything that was about him and him only- Michael. You softly moaned into his mouth as you leaned into the feeling you've missed for so long, one leg wrapped around his hip as the towel slightly loosened around it.
He himself couldn't think straight anymore, groans escaping his lips as he felt your lower region press up against his. He swiftly took ahold of your rear, lifting you up and moving to your once shared bed, intending on proving himself to you. He had to show you how sorry he was and how much he really loved you, all the pain and sorrow he had caused for you shall disappear.
He carefully lays you down, as if you were made out of glass, towel around his hips now long forgotten as he hovered above you, lips back on yours again. His hands traveled over every part of your body, not leaving one single spot unnoticed.
"Stop teasing", you whined in frustration, earning a low chuckle from the man above you. "I'm sorry baby. Just missed you so much." His fingers made quick work to your pants, finding their way into your panties, a soft sigh passed your lips.
Michael's lips attacked your neck, hot and wet tongue attacking your skin as his hand worked wonders in your panties. "So beautiful." His other hand sneaked under your shirt and bra, softly fondling your breasts. "My beautiful wife." You subconsciously moved into his touch, moans escaping your lips at his words.
His mouth moved down your neck, littering wet kisses onto your stomach, stopping with his face right over your clothed heat. "Love you. So much. Never letting you go." He growled at the sight of the wet patch visible on your panties, impatiently tearing the small cloth from your body, taking in the sight of your glistening heat.
You let out a cry of pleasure and tangled your fingers into his hair as you felt his mouth on your pussy lips, tongue drawing what seemed to be hearts on your puffy clit. The odd but familiar feeling caused a shiver to run down your spine, toes curling in euphoria.
The grip on his hair tightened as you felt yourself growing closer and closer to the edge. There was no way to deny it- you really did miss your husband. And the wonders his tongue worked inside of you too.
"J-just like that Micha' fuck." Your mind was clouded in pleasure, unable to keep a straight mind. The man moaned, no- whimpered into your heat at the sound of the nickname rolling off your tongue. He was determined to fill your whole body with pleasure, ignoring his throbbing cock as he moved his hand under your shirt to get ahold of your soft tits. "Give it to me. All of it." His growl against your folds threw you over the edge, loud moan erupting from your throat as your thighs clenched tightly around his head, nearly suffocating him.
You were panting as you came down from your anticipated high, meanwhile, Kaiser crawled back up, close to your face now as he caught his breath. "Please baby," he began, hand creeping up to hold your face, eyes full of love and devotion as he looked at you. "let's try again. I'll make up for every second we lost."
You hesitated, shying away from his touch as your lips formed a thin line. "You won't regret it Y/N. I swear to you from the bottom of my heart that we'll go back to how it used to be. Don't you want that too, baby? Like the good old days?"
Your eyes met his, gaze wandering between his features, admiring his beauty. Of course, you wanted to. You really did. Another try wouldn't hurt, right? Maybe you did overdo it with the divorce. All in all, the both of you had your wrongs to correct, no one was in innocent.
Looking back to it, both of you did overcome so many burdens and struggles. So who would say you couldn't manage this?
You let out a sigh as you came to your conclusion. "Okay." Your simple word caused the man's eyes above you to light up, he quickly embraced you in a tight hug as he lifted you up and spun the both of you around, peppering you with lots of kisses as you giggled at his action. He then threw the both of you onto the bed, laying next to you as he drew shapes onto your hip, a lovestruck expression painting his face. "Stay?"
His question caused you to look at him, soft smile on your lips. You nodded, getting up on your elbows as the man raised an eyebrow at you when you straddled his lap, flashing him a sly smirk. "Nonono, I'm fine you don't need to-" Your lips against his cut his words off, sigh escaping his lips. Your still needy cunt was seated right on top of his hard length, your movements causing him to lowly moan as he held your hips in an attempt to stop you.
"You don't seriously think I'll leave you like that Micha'?" Your question was rather rhetorical. "Let me go next with making it up to you, 'kay?"
And how could he refuse his loving wife when she sat ontop of him so cutely, hips needily grinding onto him?
"I'm all yours."

When Michael Kaiser was born, he had nothing. Not a family, not care, and most certainly not love. Michael Kaiser was born a mistake, and lived most of his life that way.
Everything changed when he was fifteen, when his life turned around and all of a sudden he meant something. All of a sudden he had a reason to care, a reason to continue living. No longer was he the mistake of a child that neither of his parents wanted, no longer was he a thief that had to steal to survive; he is Michael Kaiser, a member of the New Generation World XI, signed to Bastard Munchen with millions to his name.
He met you at twenty-one, a university student studying in one of the universities in the city, at some coffee shop he canât seem to remember. He remembers the bored look on your face as you took his order at the register, and the way you didnât even react when he said his name. If Kaiser was being honest, he was a little offended - but he also thought you were pretty even with your bored appearance.
He didnât know that that fateful encounter would lead to perhaps the most meaningful years of his life.
Kaiser is not good with love. He was never given even a sliver of it, and he has never been in a relationship long enough to know what it feels like beyond the shallow like. Models and actresses alike all flock to him no doubt as a means of increasing their fame, and he could care less. It was fun to toy with them, and throw them aside when he got tired of them. They were all the same.
You, however, brought him down to earth; you showed him what it was like to be human. You showed him what it meant to enjoy the little things in life, to take a step back and relax for a moment, to enjoy the silence. If he knows how to appreciate the simple pleasures of life, itâs because of you.
Two years with you was more than enough time to get him addicted to the drug that is you. Heâs not a passive person by any means, and heâs the kind of person to speak freely of his thoughts no matter the opinions of the people around him - yet he finds himself unsure of what to say when heâs with you. He finds himself wondering if he should say something, if heâll offend you with his blunt words. So he softens himself the best he can, he tries to be gentler and kinder in his words and actions, all in an effort to keep you.
Yet, you still manage to slip through his fingers, until all he's left with are the bittersweet memories of you.
Kaiser doesnât enjoy admitting heâs miserable. All that runs through his head are thoughts of you, how youâre doing, what youâre doing, where you could be. He yearns to feel your skin against his again, to hold you at night and let your breathing lull him to sleep, he yearns to hold your hand as you walk down the street, he yearns for you. You, who is just barely within reach, but the one thing heâll never be able to reach.
Kaiser doesnât cry. Kaiser gets angry, he gets frustrated, but he doesnât cry. But when he thinks about you, and what was and what couldâve been, he canât help when his face grows wet and the cascade of tears donât stop. He waits for a moment, before he laughs bitterly, remembering that youâre not there anymore, and heâs back to wiping his own tears like all those years ago.
A month passes by, and youâve never contacted him. His heart hurts in a way heâs never felt before. Maybe itâs an act of desperation, or maybe heâs drowning in his sorrows, but he finds himself at your apartment in the middle of the day looking and feeling like a wreck.
âIâm sorry.â The words slip out of his mouth on instinct. Heâs not the kind of person to apologize, but if itâs for you, heâll do it without hesitation.
You let him in and he almost feels like heâs breathing fresh air again. Your apartment is a familiar sight, and he remembers every inch of it like the back of his hand. The only things missing are the frames of you and him.
âIâm sorry.â He all but whispers when you sit down on your couch, his voice rough and raw. âI love you.â
âMichaelâŚâ Your voice, liquid gold to his ears, calls his name so tenderly he might just break down on the spot.
âI canât live without you. I donât know how to anymore. Iâll never love anyone as much as I love you, and Iâll never stop loving you. You⌠Youâre my life. You taught me how to live, you taught me how to be human. If I know love, itâs because of you. How can I love another person while knowing youâre the only one for me?â Michael Kaiser has never begged. But for you, heâll grovel a thousand times over and then some. His voice cracks and he wants nothing more than for you to love him again. âI⌠I know itâs selfish that I need you. You deserve better. Iâm sorry that this is all I am, but I canât let go of you.â
âMichael, please donât say that.â Your voice is firm as you take his hands in yours and he swears he feels electricity shoot down his spine. âYou are more than enough the way that you are, please never think otherwise. Youâre the Michael Kaiser, any person would be lucky to have such a wonderful man by their side.â
He doesnât realize heâs crying, not until you wipe away his tears with your thumb.
When you embrace him gently, lovingly, he completely breaks. The tears donât stop and he canât help his sniffling. Heâs afraid to speak, to hear what may leave his fragile heart, but heâs never felt so warm, so loved. Is this what home feels like?
âI was born to love you.â He finally manages to whisper, buried in the comfort of your neck with your arms wrapped around him, his wrapped around you. Your hands tenderly stroke his hair, and he feels himself being lulled to sleep.
âWe were born for each other, my love.â
Hi! Here's a short request. Yan! Genshin men with a darling that compares the yandere with fictional men(they are themselves fictional but I mean a book character or smth idk)
Yandere Genshin Men With A Darling Who Compares Him With Fictional Men

Yandere Albedo x reader, yandere Tighnari x reader, yandere Diluc x reader, yandere Neuvillette x reader
This was a really fun request<3
Masterlist
Warnings: imprisonment, post abduction, reader has Stockholm syndrome in Dilucâs part

Albedo
âLook Albedo! He looks just like you!â you pointed at the blond prince in the fairytale book you were reading. The prince had light blond hair and kind blue eyes. He really did look like Albedo.
The blond man chuckled as he looked at you with a playful smile. âAre you comparing me to a fictional character?â his voice had an amused edge to it.
âYeah. I am. But look heâs not only just a fictional character, heâs a prince!â you smiled back at him.
Albedoâs crystal blue eyes studied the drawing for a few seconds before his gaze returned to you. âDonât think you can make me let you go through comparing me to a fictional prince. Iâm not that easily persuaded. Plus it would be illogical to let you roam the dangerous world alone, loveâ he stroked your cheek gently before he leaned in to kiss your forehead.
Tighnari
âAll Iâm saying is that you look like him, not act like him! I donât get what the problem isâ you tried your best to explain yourself to the irritated fox that sat in front of you.
His ears were pinned back in irritation and his fingers drummed against the kitchen table. âIâm not a wolf nor am I a werewolf. Are you seriously comparing me to a monster?â his voice akin to a hiss.
âWell you did abducted me you knowâŚâ you mumbled under your breath, which of course the fox hybrid heard.
âWatch your mouth [Name]. One more word about me looking like a stupid fictional character and your manga privileges gets revokedâ he folded his arms over his chest as he glared at you.
Diluc
âDiluc, you remind me of himâ you nodded towards the book that was perched onto your lap. âThe knight I mean.â
The red head tilted his head slightly in curiosity. âThe knight? Why?â he took a seat beside you and wrapped his arm around you in a one-arm hug.
âHeâs the love interest. He saves a young maiden and her village and in return she marries him. Itâs quite a sweet storyâ you smiled up at him.
Archons, he never got enough of your pretty smile. âI see. I must say Iâm flattered to be compared to a hero, but as you know Iâm not the fondest of knightsâ he chuckled as he kissed the crown of your head. âIf you see me as such a nobleman, I suppose itâs only fair I act the partâ he smiled to himself. Diluc was surprised how far you have become. All the struggles have finally paid off.
Neuvillette
âAre the new book to your liking, dear?â Neuvillette asked you as he took a sip of his fine glass filled with the clearest spring water. His eyes were trained on you who were sitting on the sofa opposite of him.
âYeah, itâs good so farâ your eyes still glued to the cream coloured pages. âHowever, one of the characters reminds me of youâ your beautiful eyes flickered up to meet his.
âOh? Which character do I remind you of? And how come?â the white haired man tilted his head in curiosity.
âYou remind me of the dragon. He turned himself into a beautiful man and loved the princess into his tower. He refuses to let her go no matter what and claims he keeps her locked away as a way of protecting herâ you looked up at him with a glare. âDonât you recognise yourself?â

fabulam diu oblitus - postlude.

synopsis: The tale of the raven and the sparrow has long been forgotten by most, but some will always remember.
includes: dottore w/ gn! reader
notes: This is the fourth part of this fic, please read the other parts first! It seems that the fairy tale of you and Dottore comes to an end. Follows some of Sumeru's storyline. Warning for death. Angst. Thank you to my mootie @kaixserzz and my all of my dear anons (đ, đ <3) who kept me inspired to keep writing this fic :3

prelude. first interlude. second interlude. postlude. sequel.

âThe raven and butterflyâs happiness continued for much longer. But of course, every creature is aware that nothing lasts forever, and even the lightning in the sky would agree with that statement. All fairytales must come to an end. That was no different for the raven and the butterfly.â
There had been a buzz around the lab lately. Some of the segments had been ordered to leave for a Fatui mission. Which, would have been a normal occurrence, were it not for the place they were headed to this time.
âSumeru? Youâre going to Sumeru?â Your home country had instantly gotten your attention, not only because you havenât been back in centuries, but also because the segments were never usually dispatched there, instead causing their usual chaos in other nations.
âIndeed. We will see if the Balladeer is able to become the God he so desires to be,â Omega hummed, moving a hand underneath your shirt to record your heartbeat. Ah, that was right. The puppet had stolen the Electro Gnosis to use as his ascension into godhood⌠and Dottore would be there to see how his experiment plays out. Well, you already had a feeling about how that would turn out.Â
Moving on to a different subject, although Sumeru was the home you and Zandik were chased out of, you still held fond memories of it. Many happy things happened there for you, so the thought of it made you smile.
âYou have to bring back lots of stories for me! And souvenirs! Oh, I would love to see how much Sumeru has changed from all those years ago,â you dreamily smiled. Yeah, your favorite cafe was probably gone by now⌠but youâd love to see what replaced it!
âOf course. I expect there will be much to say with the God of Wisdom and the Traveler intervening as well,â Omega chuckled, scribbling down something on his clipboard after glancing at the monitor, before fixing your shirt back.
âYour vitals have been better lately,â the segment commented and patted your head, which you happily indulged in. It wasnât too noticeable, but it seemed like your body was getting even a little bit better. Not much, a little. But that was good anyway. âBut run along now. There is much preparation to be done regarding the trip to Sumeru.â
âOkayyyy,â you stretched your words a bit disappointedly, not wanting to leave the segment, but you knew he had a lot of work to do. So instead you settled with pecking him on the cheek which he of course returned tenfold before you went off on your way. You had quite a few segments to say goodbye to, after all! Youâd miss them a lot, but, you still had the other segments here with you. And your lover of course.
Surely, they would be back in the blink of an eye. Yes, surely, theyâd return just as they always did. You had no reason to think otherwise. And so for the next few days, everything was normal. Time passed regularly. You got through the days as you did with any other.
But one day was different.
You were in your room by yourself, enjoying your alone time. Because as much as you loved being around the segments, you still liked being by yourself too. But all of a sudden, your tranquility was interrupted by literally a bang on your door, which made you jump.
The knock on your door was frantic and loud. Immediately you hopped out of bed to see what could possibly be so important that your door was getting pounded, but when you opened the door there was no one there. You were very confused⌠how was that possible? This was a pretty long hallway. Even with the segmentsâ abilities, there was no way they could just disappear into thin air like that.Â
A bad feeling began to creep up on you, your stomach twisting and turning. You donât know why, but it just did. But surely you were overreacting. Perhaps⌠perhaps⌠actually, you didnât have any valid reasoning you could think of right now. Maybe though, maybe you should go and check on them. Just in case. You know that theyâll be there, in the lab doing their experiments or perhaps bickering with each other as usual, but there was nothing wrong with double-checking. And then youâll calm yourself with a nice hug from one of them. It would all be okay.Â
But you found that your steps were quicker and longer than usual, your breathing heavier than usual. As you got closer to the main labâs doors, you strained your ears for their voices, anything, something, but heard nothing. You licked and bit your lip that had gone dry, weak legs walking even faster if that was possible, before you swung open the doors, hoping to see those blue mops of hair you so desired to see.
Nothing. The room was empty.
Your footsteps slowed, walking into the room cautiously. It was strange because it looked as if there were people in here just a few minutes ago. Notes that were left unfinished halfway. Beakers that had broken on the floor, with some mysterious liquids soaking the floor. Strange, very strange. And yet no trace of any segments remained.
The bad feeling had grown into something much worse now. Where else? Where else could they be?Â
Their rooms. You should check their rooms. They were usually there if they werenât in the lab, doing their own respective work (because their office and rooms doubled as one since they didnât need to sleep.) So despite how your chest burned, and your legs ached, it didnât matter if it meant your heart would be soothed and relieved.
You ran as fast as you could, more like you tried to because your illness had really kicked in since your mind was stressing out a great amount. As you clung to the walls, catching your breath, you paid no mind to the random agents who were looking at you funny, nor did you manage to catch their words of âOmegaâ or âerasedâ or âgone.â
It took longer than it should have taken you, but at last, you made it to the corridor with the segmentsâ rooms. You didnât bother to knock, swinging open the door to Alphaâs room.
Empty.
Betaâs room.
Empty.
Every single room was empty. Fuck, even Zandyâs room was empty. And he was always in there if he wasnât with you. Your head was throbbing with unease now, your heavy, troubled breathing sounding throughout the whole hallway. Where? Where? Where did they goâŚ?!
â[Name].â A voice sounded from behind you. Spinning around, it was Dottore. Your Dottore! Okay, at least he was still here!
âDottore,â you breathed a sigh of relief. He would have an explanation for this. âDottore, where are all the segments? I-I canât find them anywhere. I mean, I know the lab is really big, but itâs strange for them not to be in these areas,â you placed a hand on your rapidly beating heart, trying to calm it, not noticing your husbandâs expression.
â...â The scientist was unsure of how to break the news to you because he knew of the bond you shared with the segments.
âDottore? Why arenât you answering me?â He opened his mouth to respond, but paused, seemingly trying to determine the best way to phrase his words. That only worried you more, because he was never one to sugarcoat his words. Your nervousness had returned once more, burning heat from fear creeping up your shoulders. âZandik, answer me.â
âTheyâre gone, [Name].â The words took a few moments to settle in, silence overtaking the area for a little bit. But only for a little bit, as your nervous laughter rang out interrupting it.
âGone?â You repeated. âWhat do you mean gone? They just canât be gone. Right? Right, Dottore?â The nervous smile that had etched its way onto your face hurt badly, the laughter mixed with wheezing was painful, but it was all you could do to convince yourself this was a lie.
âOmega has⌠deleted them in exchange for the Electro Gnosis.â You looked at him blankly, the former emotion on your face gone.
âDeleted? Deleted from this world? From existence?â Your tone got higher and higher as you continued speaking. You didnât even know Omega had the ability to do that. Or that the segments could be erased in the first place. Dottore just nodded in response.Â
âBut- but why? Surely t-there was another way?â Your voice was on the verge of breaking into tears.
âHe wanted to show respect to the God of-â
âRespect? To a God, of all people?â You hissed, bubbles of anger surfacing now through your agony. âHeâs a Harbinger, is he not? And heâs stronger than that God! He- he could have easily found another way! He didnât have to DELETE the segments! Another method HAD to have been possible! Did he even try to negotiate?!â Hot tears ran down your cheeks as you raised your voice at him. It took everything it had in you not to fully scream. You began to pace back and forth, hand covering your already tear-streaked face, whole body shaking. Your husband could only watch.
Dottore wasnât thrilled with Omega deleting all his segments either, with the endless resources that went into creating them, but whatâs done was done. And both the Electro and Dendro Gnoses were acquired. But you? You were on the verge of hysterics. He had never, not once, seen you like this.Â
You had come to a stop, head buried into your arm as you braced against the wall. Oh, the segments were gone forever. They were never coming back. You could only imagine how they must have been in their last moments. That they only had a few more moments to live. You couldnât bring yourself to think about what Zandy must have thought in his last few seconds.
And whatâs more, the segments had disappeared into⌠nothingness. There was no trace, no remains of their bodies whatsoever. And although seeing their bodies on the floor would have certainly destroyed you, perhaps this was even a worse fate. Because it was as if they never existed at all. You couldnât even hold their bodies one last time, or give them a proper farewell. They were just⌠gone. Oh, how you wished you could have at least been there in their last moments, to provide some comfort, some love, some sense of peace. The more you thought about it, the countless memories with them flowing through your mind, the weaker your violently shaking body became as you struggled to hold yourself up. Dottore instantly noticed and, worrying about your frail condition, walked up to you before you spat out at him.
âDo not come near me.â Out of all the centuries Zandik has spent with you, he has never been on the receiving end of much anger from you. Rather, it was you who dealt with that from him. But this wasnât just anger. It felt like venom.
âWhyâŚâ You pulled yourself up once again before glaring at him with teary eyes. âWhy didnât you stop him, Zandik? You could have, couldnât you? They didnât have to dieâŚ!â
There was only one answer the Harbinger could provide, even though he knew you would not like it. âIt was necessary to obtain the Electro and Dendro Gnoses for the Fatui.â To this, you could only laugh again once more before digging your nails into your palms so hard it hurt.
âI see. I seeâŚâ You mumbled brokenly before stepping off to the side, your steps still unsteady and wobbly as you nearly tripped. Dottore once again tensed up, body wanting to move to support you, but the look on your face made him decide against it. You then walked past him, not sparing another look at him before exiting the corridor, tears still silently running down your face. He could only watch you as you left him standing, wondering about many things yet nothing at all.
â
âFrom that day, there was a drastic shift in the butterfly and ravenâs relationship. The butterfly was indescribably hurt by the loss of the other ravens, and could not bear the pain. It was the first time the raven had ever been subjected to such cold treatment by his lover. Usually, it was the other way around. And it seemed like fixing this would not be easy.â
Dottore thought that if he gave you some space, youâd cool off soon enough.
He thought wrong.
You had flat-out been ignoring Dottore since the day the segments were erased. And not just refusing to talk to him. You didnât even want to be in the same space as him. If he came into your room, you would just leave. As soon as he opened his mouth, you were gone. In order to give you your meds, he had to wait until you were sleeping to slip in, because of the way you were acting. When it was time to eat, he had to leave the meal outside your door, otherwise, you wouldnât eat. That is if you even took it. The grief made it hard for you to do a lot of things, which made it imperative for him to help, but you didnât want it. You were distraught, but you were angry too. Why?Â
Because you truly loved the segments.
Dottore did not. He did not feel the same connection as you did. So he was at a loss. He didnât know what to do to resolve this. Apologize? No, he suspected even if he did, it wouldnât mean anything, because youâd know he didnât fully mean it, and it wouldnât bring the segments back anyway. Comfort you? You wouldnât allow him to hold you or talk to you. Il Dottore did not know what should be done.
Omega received similar treatment when finally returned from Sumeru, the Gnoses in hand. Normally, you would be waiting at the entrance whenever he returned from expeditions. This time, however, you were not, which he supposed he should have expected. You didnât want his stories. His gifts. No, all you needed to know was that he deleted the segments. They were gone because of him, and you didnât want to see him right now.
Omega was not a human. He was a segment. Though, that didnât mean that he couldnât feel emotions. He did - when it came to you. But Omega was a selfish segment. Selfish when it came to a lot of things, you included. And selfishness and emotions do not bode very well, as it becomes⌠a convoluted mixture.
The segment thinks of himself as a patient man. He knows how to wait, and wait, and wait until it pays off. He can do that for you, too. Wait for you to come back to your senses. After all, they were just segments, right? And the superior one, the best one of them all was still here - him. So surely you wonât be like this for too long.
Just like his creator, he was proven wrong. He learned the depth of your anger a day he tried reaching out to you, wanting to put this whole situation behind. But you certainly didnât share the same sentiment. It was like any other day, him talking to you and you walking away, but this time he reached out for you. The segment unconsciously longed for your touch, your affection, that was once so commonplace.
But as soon as you felt his fingers brush yours, you slapped Omegaâs hand away with a scowl. You didnât need to say anything. That one action spoke everything you wanted to.
You would never view him the same ever again.
â
âAnd so the butterfly found themselves drowning and suffocating in grief. Their whole life had been changed, the creatures who helped them through so much were now gone. But that would not be the last of the butterflyâs sorrow.â
You had been giving the cold shoulder to Zandik and Omega for a long time. Considering how clingy and affectionate you were before, they didnât even know you had it in you. But now, it was as different as night and day. However, it wasnât as much as it was before, because you still had to rely on them in order to live. Despite how much you didnât want to, without them, youâd be dead. They were the ones who had to administer your medicine and give you check-ups so your condition wouldnât get worse (although it already happened after the segments were deleted.) It was funny how easily progress could be reversed. How one thing, one random day, could change everything.
So eventually you had to let them in a bit. Most of the time you just ignored them and rarely spoke. Even during the checkups and shots, you had your head turned the other way the whole time. They would still attempt to talk to you, in hopes you would even grace them with a âyesâ or ânoâ rather than the rare nod of your head. But it wasnât very fruitful.Â
Another habit of yours now was that if you werenât in your room, you were most likely in a segmentâs room crying. Especially Zandyâs. Clutching his plushies. Or maybe Alphaâs. Trying to fix up the parts he left lying on his desk. Or Betaâs. Going into his closet to wear his coat. Dottore knew better than to clean out their rooms because you would most likely snap at him again.
You didnât have much energy to do anything else but lay in your room, blankly staring at the ceiling all day, your head a foggy, grief-filled mess. It did not feel good⌠you hated the feeling⌠but what else should you doâŚ? You just wished you could feel the warmth of your segments⌠the seemingly annoyed but secretly delighted posture of Alpha as you held him from behind. The bitey nature of Beta that didnât let you go once you were in his clutches. The small, clingy body of Zandy as he cuddled into your body, sweet dreams blessing him instead of the nightmares. But you could only dream about those things now.
Even the regular Fatui agents had noticed this development. The lovey-dovey nature of Il Dottoreâs spouse was now reduced to this. You heard them speak about it.
âHave you noticed? Lord Dottore has been far more irritable lately.â
âOh yeah, both Omega and Prime! I feel bad for those who have to work directly with themâŚ. At least my job is just standing at this door all day.â
âI know. They always were terrifying, but it seems even worse now. Ugh, and now thereâs even more work for us since all the segments are gone.â
âDo you know why? Has Lord Pantalone decreased his budget again?â
âYeah, itâs kind of obviousâŚâ The agent lowered his voice to a whisper. âHis spouse, [Name], has been giving them the silent treatment for ages now. Donât tell anyone this but, I believe that our great Harbinger, Lord Il Dottore⌠is feeling the effects of this. Iâve never seen them act like this!â
âIs that so? Speaking of, I donât think Iâve seen them around here very much.â
âWell yes⌠if you were here for as long as I have been, youâd normally see them all over the lab but, they tend to stay locked up in their room nowadays. And Lord Dottore as well, he doesnât leave his office much either. Omega seems to take care of much of the outward responsibilities.â
So that was what it was like. You got your answer to if Dottore missed you. You wondered how many people accidentally became his test subjects due to his rising temper because of you. But though it may not have looked like it, not speaking to your husband was hurting you tremendously as well. Because at the end of the day⌠he was your love, your life. He was your Zandik, the one who meant everything to you. The one who went through everything and anything with you. He was the only one you had⌠you still loved him, terribly so. Maybe that was a bigger weakness than your illness.
But that didnât mean you were any less mad at him.
Omega, on the other hand⌠ah, you didnât even know what to think anymore⌠you were so conflicted, it was so hard to even think⌠when you said you loved all the segments, that included him too. But he deleted all of them⌠you hated him⌠but did you love him too? No, you should continue to hate him, he was the selfish one⌠Zandy was gone because of him⌠you couldnât forgive him! So you didnât forgive him. The days continued the same as always.Â
Until one fateful day.
Omega was set to head out on a mission. Which was quite unusual nowadays, because ever since the clones were deleted, he couldnât afford to leave Snezhnaya with all the work that had to be done. All you had heard was that the blonde-haired traveler would be there too, from all the whispering around the lab.
But what did it matter to you? Whether the segment was here or not, it was the same to you. His whereabouts were surely not of concern to you, so you had no feelings on this. Though the night before he was set to leave, he knocked on your door anyway. You immediately pulled the blankets over your face and curled to the side of the bed so you wouldnât see Omega. The door shut with a click and his boots sounded against the floor.
âHello, [Name]. Iâm sure youâve heard by now that I am leaving soon. It is another critical mission for the Fatui, and I suspect the Traveler will be there once again.â He didnât receive a response from you, which he expected. âBut Iâm sure this is of no interest to you, anyway.â He guessed right, you thought, you didnât care. However, even after saying what he had to say, he did not leave. A silence overtook the room as neither of you moved or spoke. But then Omega called your name, with another short silence coming after it before he spoke once more.
âI will not ask for your forgiveness, because I know I will not receive it, nor will I apologize, because I believe I took the right course of action. ButâŚâ Omega paused, âI still hold you fondly. I stillâŚâ He reached his hand out to your covered body but drew it back before his fingertips could brush you.
âI hope we will be able to talk more once I return.â He seemed to wait a few more seconds, perhaps hoping you would stay something, hoping he could at least see your face before he left, but to no avail. All you heard was the retreating footsteps and the click of your door shutting once more. You pulled the blankets off so you could breathe properly again, as you thought about his words.
What should you do? You didnât know. The segments had passed quite a while ago, and the pain was still fresh in your heart, but Omega⌠ugh⌠perhaps, maybe, just maybe, you could try talking to him once more. Only an attempt. If you didnât like how it felt, youâd stop. And he wasnât returning from the mission for a few months, so you had ample time to make your decision anyway.
But Omega never returned.
The next few months flew by quickly, and though Omega had not returned yet, you thought nothing of it. Something must have come up that delayed his return. Itâs happened before, it probably happened again. That was until you noticed groups of Fatui huddled together murmuring in the lab. As soon as they saw you, they went back to work and shut up their little gossip quickly, which was very strange. Now you really needed to know what was going on, so you decided to silently eavesdrop on the next pair you found. But you would have never thought of the words you heard next.
Omega had been killed by the Traveler.Â
Omega was dead.
Omega wasnât coming back.
You would never see him ever again. The realization made your body weak as you stumbled back, having to cling to the wall for support. He was gone⌠the tears immediately sprang to your eyes, as you covered your mouth to keep your sobs down. Omega killed the other segments. Maybe a part of you should feel glad. But no, all you felt was red-hot grief and pain, as you crashed into the nearest random room, and cried, and cried, and cried.
If you knew that was the last time you would see him, you wouldnât have acted like thatâŚ
You wonder why things had to turn out like this.
â
âThe butterfly never truly recovered from their loss, but as they say, time heals all wounds.â
After Omega died, you didnât have the energy to be mad anymore. You were just tired. Tired of everything. Everything felt like a chore. Though you saw your husband more often now. Since there were no more segments, and Dottore obviously wouldnât trust even the best Fatui doctors with you, he was the one who did all the usual medical stuff for you now.
Admittedly, his touch felt nice. It felt good. It felt like exactly what you needed right now. Comfort. So you gave in. When he had finished the usual procedure, as he turned his back on you, you reached out and wouldnât let go of his hand. Dottore stiffened from the contact - it had been a while since youâd touched him so intimately - but you didnât let go, and only weakly tugged him closer, which he complied to. You couldnât bring your eyes to meet his, instead blankly staring at his shoes, but he seemed to get the message anyway. Tentatively, he wrapped his arms around you to gauge your reaction, and when he saw no resistance, he pulled you into his chest and held you. You missed this feeling. You missed Zandik.
And maybe you were scared he would leave you too.
Things continued like that for a while. Youâd seek your husband out for his touch. His presence. His voice. Anything that would bring you some peace. Though you still remained mostly silent during these times. You just didnât know what to say. Sometimes you wondered if he was mad at you. Annoyed. Disappointed. You didnât want to know though. You were content with the fact that Zandik would hold you in his lap even at the wildest hours of the night.
But now, it had been some time since Omegaâs death and even longer since the other segments were erased.
You werenât quite ready to move on, no, not yet, but it was inevitable. Or perhaps you would never truly move on, instead, they would always be a part of you. Youâd always carry them with you. But regardless, you needed to try, at least for Zandy. You think heâd want you to try and smile more often. You were speaking a bit more to your Harbinger friends again, and finding some enjoyment in your hobbies. Not to mention your relationship with Zandik was becoming better again. He had still been there, even when your illness and grief had you at your worst, with no complaints. Even though he had nothing to gain from this relationship. Even though you had become someone different. He had always loved you.
But there was still a rift caused by everything that had happened, that you wanted to fix. Because at the end of the day, in this world, you two only had each other. So you decided to talk to him about it. You had a habit of this, just waltzing into his office without knocking, and came upon Dottore who had a small box in his hand, appearing to gaze at whatever was in it, before he quickly snapped it shut at your sudden arrival. You recognized that box. It was the one where he kept his wedding ring in. So he still had it like that after all these years. You pretended like you didnât see it as he swiftly put it away.
â[Name].â
âZandik. Are you busy right now?â
âNo.â Both of you knew that was a lie. The Second Harbinger was always busy. You knew for a fact he was stretched thin, especially since he wasted so much time taking care of you along with his Fatui duties, which piled up quickly with no more segments.
âAlright⌠can we talk?â
âOf course.â Zandik had been especially attentive to your words lately. Perhaps because he missed the times you would talk his ear off.
âI want to make something clear.â Zandik looked at you curiously as you took a deep breath. Many possibilities raced through his head.
âI still love you, Zandik.â
Well, he certainly wasnât expecting that, and you could tell, even though his expression did not betray his thoughts.
âYou already know the reason IâmâŚâ Your voice trailed off, not wanting to say the words aloud, but you continued. âBut I⌠appreciate you for staying by me. For all these centuries, through everything. Itâs been a⌠very long time. And although things are different now, I want us to be⌠happy again. It might not be immediately but⌠itâs because I love you, Zandik.â You swallowed, at the end, your voice growing a bit softer. Ah, you hoped that wasnât too sentimental. Zandikâs expression was blank so you couldnât tell what he was thinking.
âSo yeah, thatâs all⌠I guess.â All of a sudden, the silence that followed made you embarrassed, and you wanted to leave there as quickly as possible. âOkay, I-Iâll let you do your work now.â And then you hastily made your exit and left the Harbinger alone, before he started chuckling to himself. Heâd expect nothing less from you, his dear, darling spouse.
Though he wonders if you realize time is irrelevant for him. Heâll wait for you as long as it takes.
â
âOne thing about the raven and the butterfly that would never change was that they were wholly intertwined with each other. Their fates were one. So even if they happened to go their separate ways, they would inevitably return to one another again.â
It was actually quite scary how fast time flew. From the time you woke up, to marrying Dottore, to the segments passing, to right now⌠it felt like a blur. You guess, now that your life span was no longer that of a regular humanâs, time was starting to skew a bit for you. Well, you were just excited to spend decades more, even centuries with him.
Throughout all the years that had passed since that day, you found yourself falling more and more in love with Zandik again. You suppose that should be normal for a married couple but, it never ceased to amaze you how one man could make you feel like this.
Something that had become somewhat of a habit for the two of you was dancing. Yes, dancing. It had come up during one of your wedding anniversaries. To be honest, neither of you really did or planned anything special for the day. Perhaps there was a bit more kissing along with other affectionate activities, but you two didnât look at it as something that big. First, because you didnât want to waste his already precious time, but also because you knew from the beginning the wedding anniversaries would be countless. So every anniversary was more of something you expected, so it was nothing too big to celebrate, especially as people who lived this long⌠if that made sense. And Dottore⌠was Dottore after all. Never one to care much for dates.
But on one anniversary you were reminded of how you two danced during the wedding. Your clumsy steps as Dottore guided you through it all, and you wanted to relive that, so he indulged you. And funnily enough, you were a lot better! Your steps werenât as unsteady and your body didnât ache as much. Dottoreâs feet didnât get assaulted by yours too much. Even Dottore was pleasantly surprised. It probably had to do with the fact that although you werenât cured yet, your health had been up on an upward curve. Of course, never the best but, much better than you first were. You were proud of yourself for making it this far.
So now, when you had time, you found yourself rehearsing your steps with him and your husband twirling you around. Perhaps one day you could reach his level.
You found that there were days that reminded you of the Akademiya. Where you could help him with his notes and research like a real assistant would. Obviously, it still wasnât the best but it was something, and you could see that Dottore liked it. These days often came with you teasing him with embarrassing memories from the Akademiya.
âI still remember when you got motion sickness from piloting that ruin golem, Zandik.â
âFor the last time, I did not get motion sickness, [Name].â
âMhm, sure. If I didnât drag you out, you would have-â
âThat is enough from you.â
You found that there were more days he would take you out into the Snezhnayan winters (you were bundled up to the max) so you could finally see the snow. You found yourself attending your first balls at the Tsaritsaâs palace, as Dottore was now forced to attend himself rather than his segments. He didnât want to leave you by yourself in the dreary lab so⌠you were often his plus one, where you spent the evening poking fun at him with Columbina. (You also were the one who publicly took sweets to-go from the parties for him so he wouldnât get judged.)
And perhaps your favorite memory was when he took you back to Sumeru - yes, to another country - so you could witness the Akademiya Extravaganza festival. He, of course, had no interest in it, but you being you and loving fun things absolutely did. Many things happened, including meeting the Traveler⌠but that story was for another day.
All in all, you always knew this but, you found that no matter how many years passed, no matter what Il Dottore has done, no matter the amount of sins and wrongfulness he has committed⌠you were hopelessly in love with him. From the time he was that perpetually irritated but in love student from the Akademiya to his current self, the Harbinger that was a stark contrast to his former self but still possessed you for himself.
Sure, it was a bit lonely at times compared to before, but all the tender moments throughout the years made you happy to have Zandik in your life. Which is why you foolishly thought these times would last forever.
When Dottore told you he was leaving Snezhnaya, and therefore the lab, and therefore you, it jolted you right up from your sleepy daze on his lap.
âWhat?!â The word came out as a half yell, half-whisper. âWhat do you mean youâre leaving Snezhnaya?â
âIt means Iâm leaving Snezhnaya, dear,â he continued on his paperwork (which never seemed to end) as if this was common knowledge. âThe mission needs a Harbinger to oversee it, and the task falls to me this time.âÂ
You were devastated. There were times when Dottore only had to leave the lab for a few days to attend to matters in different parts of Snezhnaya. (You spent the time at Columbinaâs mansion because oddly enough, she always seemed to be there⌠how did she manage to shirk her duties so often?) But this was completely different. He would be so far out of reach, for a long time probably too. Foreign missions always took a while. You remember how long you had to wait for the segments to return from them.
âOkay, then Iâll come with you!â
âNo, youâre not,â he immediately shut down your proposition. âMissions are still far too dangerous with your current state. You will stay in Snezhnaya, and wait for me to come back.â You knew when he used that tone, things were final, and you hung your head low, all sleepiness gone at the fact you wouldnât be seeing him for months. Sure, you would be staying with Bina as usual but, you had a feeling itâd be hard to replace the rush of emotions Dottore gave you on a daily basis.Â
Dottore noticed your dour expression, which he obviously expected, and sighed, setting down his pen. At this point, it was a sort of routine that he had memorized, comforting you and all. Although comfort would never be something he was adept in, years of doing it had let him become somewhat proficient.Â
â[Name],â he moved his hand to guide your chin up so you could look at him. You were pouting. âThese few months, or even less, depending on how quickly the work gets done, will only be a blink of an eye in the grand scheme of things. Iâll be back before you know it,â he hummed. Although he certainly was not pleased about leaving you by yourself for so long, such was the life of a Fatui Harbinger. It was at times like these he missed his segments. (Did that sound selfish? Well, he was a selfish man when it came to you.)
A drop in eternity, huh? Well, when he puts it like that, then maybe it would be just a bit bearable. And, when you think about it, heâs waited over four hundred years for you, all alone. So this little challenge couldnât be too hard, right?
âAlright⌠Iâll wait for you, Zandik.â
âGood,â he chuckled at how easy it was to win you over sometimes and stroked your cheek. âIn the meantime, you can work on the recipe youâve been vehemently hiding from me and show me when Iâm back.â You immediately brightened at that.
âOh yeah! I promise youâre going to like these sweets better than the ones at the bakery!â You proudly declared.
âOh? Now thatâs a high standard youâve set yourself to, dear. Are you sure youâre going to be able to live up to it?â
âHmph, donât underestimate me. My baking skills have improved over the years!â
The banter always made you two feel like regular humans, despite what you two really were.
â
âThe days went by peacefully for the lonely butterfly, but soon that feeling was shattered when they learned of a golden cometâs presence near their raven.â
The days in Columbinaâs mansion went by rather uneventfully. Surprisingly enough, she wasnât home as often as usual. It seemed like the Fatui were really stepping up their business now. Youâd have to ask Dottore about that. Maybe the day Celestia is defeated was closer than you thought. But today was a day Bina had some time to indulge in cakes and conversation with you. The chit-chat was mundane but brought a sense of comfort until the conversation somehow ended up with Dottore as the topic. Your friend always liked teasing you about him. Everything was lighthearted and sweet until she idly mentioned his mission.
âI wonder how your Doctor is doing on the mission~â
âWell, Iâm sure heâll be fine. Heâs Dottore after all.â
âMhm, thatâs right. I do wonder how he plans to deal with the Traveler though.â The mention of the blondeâs name nearly made you drop your teacup.
âW-What?â Your voice cracked as you implored your friend to tell you more. You were now realizing that you neglected to ask Dottore what the mission exactly was, and he did not reveal the contents as well, probably because he knew youâd freak even more if you knew he was most likely going to confront the Traveler. Columbina looked confused.
âDear, did he not tell you?â
âNo! I- ah, he only told me he has a mission in another nation, I guess it slipped my mind to ask him the details!â You now had your hand clutched to your head and another one trying to soothe your now rapidly beating heart. A naive and very stupid part of you thought it wouldnât have to come to this, but it already did, so quickly too.Â
Why were you so particularly scared? It was because all you could think of was Omegaâs death by the Travelerâs hand, as well as your fellow colleagues. You knew that Dottore was far stronger than any of them but⌠you were in a panic. All the worst possible scenarios began invading your mind relentlessly.
â[Name], calm down. Dottore is strong. We do not even know if it will end in a battle or not, but regardless of the outcome, he is smart enough to-â Bina attempted to comfort you before you interrupted her and abruptly stood up.
âI need to go.â
âGo? Go to Dottore, dear?â
âYes. Yes, I need to see him. I need-â Your words were becoming a jumbled mess from the anxiety this piece of news caused. âI need to see him in person if heâs okay.â
âYou do not think you should think about this some more? I suspect the Doctor will not be happy if he sees you there, even if itâs you of all people.â
âIt doesnât matter. If I stay here, all Iâll be able to think about is him.â You could already see yourself losing sleep and appetite over this. âBut as long as I can see him okay⌠even if heâs angry, I can deal with it. Anything is better than being over here helpless!â Columbina watched you silently.
âAlright. Be ready in a few days.â You looked at her in surprise.
âBina? Youâre helping me? Youâre not going to⌠stop me?â
âDear [Name], I will not get in the way of a decision youâve made for yourself. If this is what youâve decided, then it is my duty as your friend to assist you as Iâve done in the past. And perhaps this will teach the Doctor a lesson to stop withholding information from you,â the Harbinger sighed.
ââŚThank you, Columbina.â Youâd have to repay her sometime later.
â
âThe raven and the butterfly found themselves reunited again at long last, and would stay together like that forever.â
It was funny you found yourself back here, your home country. It seems like you two were always drawn back here, despite no longer being welcomed. But that didnât really matter too much, because as soon as the boat you were on pulled into the port, it was clear that today was not a normal day in Sumeru City.
You were too late.Â
The fight had clearly already begun, probably only recently too, by the chaotic state of Sumeru. Obviously, itâd be out of order if there were two immensely powerful beings in battle with each other. Maybe, if you were just a bit sooner⌠but you already had your mind set. Although the Fatui agent entrusted with your safety was ready to head back already, his orders to not let you come to any danger, you just tranquilized him. (It was a courtesy device from Dottore in case he wasnât near.)
And you ran. Was that a good idea considering your illness? Absolutely not, but desperate times called for desperate measures. Was it a good idea to walk into the middle of a battle? Also no, but you couldnât shake the bad feeling you had this whole time.Â
Although it was far away, it was easy to spot the place, as for one there were Fatui swarming the area and also regular citizens running in the opposite direction. Though your lungs were absolutely burning, your knees weak and scraped from tripping, tired from bumping into others, illness flaring up even worse from the added stress and exertion, you continued ahead with only one goal. To see your husband.
Throughout your haggard walking, you thought of the future. You thought of how great it would be to see Teyvat change in the next four hundred years just as he did. And this time, Dottore would not have to witness it by himself. He would have you. It would be amazing, just thinking of all the variety of new inventions and such that would be created! You two would surely dissect them and put them back together for fun. You two would do a lot of things, you think, as you finally made it to the door of the grand building the fight was in. It was already rather damaged, but the door managed to remain mostly intact, so you pushed it open.
Just in time to see the Traveler land the final fatal hit to Zandik, his body landing on the floor with a painful thud.
Your worst nightmare had become reality. But⌠Zandik told you heâd return to you in no timeâŚ
Suddenly, all the will you had before was gone in an instant. You didnât have the energy or focus to call out his name. All you could do was blankly stare at his defeated body while taking some hesitant steps forward, all while mumbling something incoherent under your breath. The Traveler, despite their exhaustion, noticed you and immediately readied their sword again. But, they soon realized that there was no need for that from the exceedingly dull look in your eyes and the way you tripped over yourself again, landing on the floor, reaching out your hand towards the Doctor. You had to make it to him.
You pathetically dragged your body closer to Zandik, every part of it screaming out in part for you to stop. But you didnât care. You could take it. After all, you knew the pain would soon be over. The Traveler merely watched you, still a bit on edge for what you could do, but you didnât care. You didnât care about anything besides Zandik, so you continued inching your body to your husband before you finally reached him. His body was practically motionless, his face revealed as his mask was destroyed to the side somewhere. When you came into view, a flicker of surprise came across his face but it quickly morphed into one of acceptance.
âYouâre not supposed to be here.â You half-laughed at that.
âI could say the same to youâŚâ Your voice had dropped to a soft, defeated one. Huffing and panting, you used your last remaining strength to pull yourself up and kneel, tenderly bringing your husbandâs head onto your lap. He did not resist. It wasnât like he had the strength to anyway. âYou didnât tell me you were going to be here, either.â
âIt was not necessary⌠at the time,â Zandik said, looking right at you the whole time with those red eyes of his. âBut I suppose I should have expected this. You never do as you are told, do you?â
âOf course not. But you should remember that whenever I break the rules, things turn out fine for us.â You smiled, and you had a feeling both of you were thinking of the same memories. That time you helped him break into the Akademiyaâs library when it was closed, or the time you threw a book at someone for him, or the time you two helped each other on what was supposed to be solo assignments. Or the times you ran away from his needles and medicine, or the times you went behind his back and befriended the others. Those times ended out okay, so this time would be okay too.
Then, the building began to rumble, most likely about to collapse. The battle must have been quite fierce. Although the Traveler felt no remorse for the two of you, their kind heart still couldnât help but feel the slightest twinge of pity. After all, the blonde had read the notes the two of you left scattered around Sumeru. To think that a relationship could last so long, especially one with the mad Doctor⌠You noticed their expression before you rasped out a mixture of a plea and demand.
âWhy are you still here? Leave us now. I want to be alone with him.â Your words were empty of emotion towards them. There was no point in any hostility anymore, not when you had to treasure the last moments with your beloved. The Traveler didnât seem surprised by your words, as they nodded and threw the bloodied Harbinger one last glance, before running away with the little fairy. It seemed they knew⌠youâd rather die here along with him than live without him.
You looked back at Zandikâs face, his once brightly colored red eyes now a darkened hue.
âIâve failed you, [Name].â Since it was the end of the line now, even a genius scholar such as him had to admit defeat. Dottore thought back to all the times he swore to cure you. He swore he would do it so that you could be who you used to be once more. But he failed. He let you lose centuries of your life and left you in pain for your conscious ones. But you didnât seem to share the sentiment.
âFailed me?â You couldnât help but laugh at that, despite the tears that began to run down your cheeks. âOh darling, you have never failed me. Not once in over four hundred years.â Zandik continued to stare at you because that was all the strength he had to do, so you reached for his hand and brought it to your cheek.
âYouâve loved me continuously for so many centuries, havenât you? How could that ever be a failure?â You nuzzled into his hand, his own blood beginning to smear on your face, but you didnât care.Â
âYour love has changed so much over time. From your prickly and thorny yet beautiful love from the Akademiya. To your smooth and unabashed love now. But your love was unfaltering, to me at least. Perhaps I may be delusional, and I overthink how much you love me. But I think it was real, even though you may never admit it, that is what matters to me. So if youâre thinking about the cure, forget it.â Your hands were shaking and struggling to hold his to your cheek for this long, energy spent, but you continued anyway, even as a piece of the infrastructure suddenly caved in and collapsed on the opposite side of the room with a loud crash. âThe cure isnât what mattered. It was you.â
Zandik thinks you are the only person who has forgiven him. Not even he has. He knows he does not deserve it, but he shouldnât say that to you now. But he thinks, even at this moment, perhaps it may seem sick or morbid, your beauty still manages to surpass that of any other being in Teyvat.
You thought about the Tsaritsa, who had shown you much love and kindness. You hoped she would finally achieve her goals. You thought about the other Harbingers, the ones who were still alive at least. You would miss them. You looked at your wedding ring. It was still intact. How lovely. Lastly, you thought about Zandik as you looked at him, and he seemed to realize something.
â[Name], reach into my pocket.â You were confused but you complied, wincing in pain a bit but successfully reached it and pulled out a box. It was the box he kept his wedding wing in. Popping it open, you were correct, and still couldnât help but be a bit incredulous.
âYou brought it with you?â You were surprised because a part of you still believed he thought the whole thing was a bit dumb.
âI normally do not but, with the length of the mission, I believed it would be a simple and easy way to be reminded of you.â That was cute.
âSorry. I guess the good luck charm didnât work,â you smiled apologetically as you slipped the band onto his finger, to which Zandik scoffed.
âYou know very well I do not believe in luck.â You only laughed, though it was mostly drowned out by multiple crashes and rocks falling all around you. Being buried was a fitting end, to be honest. No one else needed to know about the two of you. No one else needed to know your stories. It would be best if the two of you ended up forgotten, lost to time. Then, no one would be able to misunderstand or twist your relationship.
Despite all of the pains that had befallen you, the suffering and hardships, you could happily say you lived a good life. You were happy, so happy, thanks to Zandik. Zandik was what made this life worth living⌠so this was okay. You would have loved to have been cured and lived out many more happy memories with him but⌠this was alright. But the time was limited, so this conversation needed to be wrapped up in a way that would satisfy you.
âI love you, Zandik.â You donât expect any response back because of your husbandâs poor track record with saying those words.Â
The times Zandik has said the words âI love youâ have admittedly been scarce and in-between despite the centuries heâs spent with you. It was a grand total of⌠two times. And both had been said when he thought you were sleeping.Â
The first time had been in the Akademiya. It had been a while since you two were a couple, and he had yet to say it. You expected that obviously. But one random night, when you two were cuddling and drifting off into dreamland, you heard the three words mumbled into the crook of your neck. It took everything in you not to react.
The second time had been when you had recently woken up from your coma. Dottore was around you constantly, taking so many tests that it made your head spin, and you had to take naps more often than not. And once again, as you were just about to slip off into slumber, you heard the three words whispered as he gently bit your ear.
Surprisingly enough, the third time would be now. Perhaps because he had nothing to lose anymore, as it was the end.
âI love you as well, [Name].â Your eyes go wide for a few seconds before you grin widely one last time, and you give him a look that says âI know.â Zandik watched your eyes flutter shut as you leaned down to his face, and he let himself be enveloped in your final kiss, neither of you paying attention to the shadows cast by the multitude of broken architecture about to fall on top of you.
Let the fairy tale come to a close.
â
âIn his last moments, the raven was taken back to a memory from centuries ago. It was a memory where he was truly happy with his lovely sparrow.â
Zandik awoke to a blue sky and a gentle breeze. He blinked, immediately trying to gauge where he was. But then the sound of a familiar voice flooded his senses.
âAnd you know what this professor had the audacity to say to me, Zandik? âFigure it out!â Like, youâre supposed to be helping me, not writing me off! Youâre getting paid for this!â You were lying down on the grass next to him, hands folded as you huffed. âAt least I have you, Zandik. Way better than any damn professor.â He blinks at you.Â
Zandik remembers this moment. It was the day when exams and classes were finally over, and you wanted to relax before helping him with his experiments. And you also thought it was the perfect time to rant about all the professors you had to deal with over the last few months. But soon, you just started bringing up random things that occurred over the term. Zandik couldnât remember the last time he saw you like this. Donning the Akademiya uniform, so happy and carefree⌠healthy, strong, like nothing in the world bothered you.
He found himself slightly smiling at how stupidly happy you looked, before reaching out to you. But as soon as merely his fingernails came into contact with you, you began to dissolve right in front of his eyes. Immediately, he stiffened and sat up, again trying to take hold of you but you were no longer there. Zandikâs hands began to shake, and thatâs when he realized his surroundings were changing.
The blue sky was now fading away, becoming pitch black along with everything else that was chipping away, ready to swallow him whole into the darkness.
Ah, he understood now.
This was the end.
â
âFinally, the twisted raven met his fate.â
Or so he thought. Zandik woke up once more. Everything seemed normal at first, the blue sky was once again there and the Sumerian breeze caressed his hair. Until he realized there was a sticky substance coated all over his hands.
Blood.
This wasnât an unfamiliar occurrence for him, after all, he would usually get hands-on with his experiments, but he had an⌠odd feeling about this. Zandik blinked and all of a sudden, there you were lying on the ground in front of him.
Dead. Coated with blood.
Did he⌠kill you?
All too quickly, before he could reach out to hold your body or begin to process what happened, he was suddenly somewhere else. The desert.
Zandik laid eyes upon you. What he would usually see was you complaining about the heat while you dug through the ruins. What he saw instead was an Eremite plunging a sword through you.
And again. This time he awoke to you being completely cold and limp in his arms. And again. It didnât take his brain long for him to understand what was happening.
His victims and test subjects could torture him for eternity, yet Dottore would not feel bothered or a shred of remorse. It would be a useless endeavor. But this? This was the perfect punishment.Â
His beloved being killed in front of him, by the world, by other people, by natural forces, by his own hands. And for all of the power and knowledge he once had, he was powerless to do anything yet again.
⌠How ironic, Zandik thought.
â
At last, the tiny Archon closed the storybook.
It had been ages since the events in this tale had taken place. The Fatui were no more, Celestia was gone, the Traveler had long left this world, and Teyvat was at peace. So much time, that the Outcastâs name no longer floated around the Akademiya, now long forgotten. The God of Wisdom herself had gained a tremendous amount of knowledge from all the years that had flown by. And even still, she has not forgotten this story.
Yet, in all of her wisdom, she still cannot hope to fully understand the raven and the sparrow. The Dendro Archon found herself coming back to this tale, trying to comprehend their actions and thoughts. She reads it aloud to herself, draws pictures, and crafts the tale with her own words, yet it only leaves her more lost. Perhaps one day she will understand. But perhaps she wonât. Perhaps no one ever will.
After all, there were only two people who would ever truly understand the bond between the raven and the sparrow.Â
Zandik and [Name].Â
An unfriendly and cold scholar and a sweet and caring one.
An immoral villain and an accomplice.
A violator of this worldâs laws and a supporter.
A Harbinger and an assistant.
Regardless of those titles, perhaps at the end of the day, they only saw themselves as one thing to each other.
Two people who loved each other as if nothing else mattered.

Now, let's wrap up the tale of the raven and sparrow once and for all. (Also, I realize that this part may seem a bit reader-centric, but I hope it's still good!)

prelude. first interlude. second interlude. postlude. sequel.

It had been years since the Traveler had attended their first Akademiya Extravaganza. It was a marvelous experience. It had also been years since the old sages were overthrown, the Balladeerâs attempt to become a God, and of course, the deletion of the Doctorâs segments as well as the death of the Omega build.
But why was the Traveler still in Teyvat? Since they still had yet to find their treasured sibling, their journey persisted. And so they and their traveling companion had found themselves back in Sumeru for another fun festival. Paimon had already had her fill of games and yummy food, so now they were going to see a performance, by the one and only Nilou. Their friend often danced, but today would be a special one since it was during the festival.
âOh wow! Zubayr Theater is so much more lively than usual!â Paimon exclaimed. Indeed, there was a large crowd gathered below the stage, all of them excited to watch the dancerâs performance. But there was one person who caught Paimonâs eye. Someone was sitting by themselves, away from the crowd.
âHuh? Look over there, someone is sitting all alone. Do you think theyâre okay?â
âPaimon, just because someone is by themselves doesnât mean theyâre in trouble. Maybe they donât like being around large groups of people.â
âOh⌠Paimon knows that! But maybe we should check on them, just in case. We still have some time before Nilouâs performance.â The Traveler gave in to their friendâs request and the pair made their way over to you. But you were too lost in your thoughts to notice them coming.
Your illness still remained, but with all the years that had passed by, at least it wasnât as bad as it was before. It didnât totally dominate your life, and you were able to do some things by yourself that you couldnât do before! It wasnât a cure, but it was something. Though of course there were bad days, the good days were the ones you focused on more. Good days such as today.
You were back in Sumeru after hundreds of years. You never thought it would happen but, one day your husband came to you and told you the news so casually, you thought you were dreaming. You? Leaving Snezhnaya? It felt unreal! If you were stronger, you would have tackled him to the floor with your love, but alas you had to settle for squeezing him as hard as you could.Â
Though, to be honest, you werenât sure if the Fatui actually had business there, or if he wanted to bring you there since youâd been longing for it for so long. (But it seemed unlikely that Pierro would give him vacation daysâŚ) Regardless, your joy was received by him adequately as you peppered his face with kisses.
So now you were here, in your home country. Of course, there were numerous top-tier Fatui agents assigned to you in disguise, always trailing behind with great skill, since Dottore was never going to let you be by yourself. But you didnât really mind. The past few days had been the most fun youâd had in so long! (If only Dottore could join you. Obviously, he couldnât in broad daylight⌠not to mention whatever duties he had.)
As you remember it, each Darshan had set up booths for the Wisdom Gala with a ton of interesting mini-games and other stuff. Though the concept was the same, you were once again realizing how things had changed over the centuries you were asleep⌠these games were truly novel! You were impressed at the creativity because it was nothing like this when you were a student!
One that was funny was when you were given a mallet⌠yes a mallet, to hit these little wooden fungi that kept popping up and down in different spots. You were given a question and each of the fungi had a different answer. You had to whack the one with the right answer. Now, figuring out the answer wasnât the question, but rather hitting them. With your illness, lugging this thing quickly enough to smack them was not an easy task⌠but it was fun! Hehe, you knew Zandy would have whacked all of them anyway. Ugh, you were really feeling robbed now⌠the best things always happen in school after you already left.
Though your favorite game was the gear puzzles. You were given multiple gears of different sizes and had to insert them to make all of them eventually turn. You ended up finishing them at record speed, causing a whole swarm of Kshahrewar students around you, begging you to join their Darshan. It was a good thing one of your agents caused a distraction elsewhere for you to swiftly escape⌠Hmm, maybe you should ask Dottore to make these for you, so you could occupy your mind.
Ahh, not to mention the food⌠the delicious, authentic Sumerian cuisine that you missed so much. Although some things had naturally changed over four hundred years, it was as yummy as you remembered it. You always packaged some so you could share with Dottore (especially the sweets.) At the end of the day, or when you were tired, you were always escorted back to him. The location was secluded of course, for privacy and safety reasons. Your husband would listen to you ramble about quite literally everything, as you explored Sumeru City thoroughly, not just the festival. Even though he already knew everything you spoke about, he liked seeing your curiosity be indulged in.
But today was different. Today you decided to witness the performances going on in the theater. You had always liked watching them (Columbina often invited you to them) in Snezhnaya, so now you wanted to see what Sumeru had to offer. Four hundred years ago, the Akademiya looked down and shamed the arts far more than they do today. Non-academic writing, drawing, sculpting, acting, singing, dancing, you name it. There was no such thing as the Grand Bazaar or Zubayr Theater. Though you didnât live here anymore, you were very pleased to see how much the arts were appreciated now, as they should be. Especially that red-haired girl, her dancing was awe-inspiring. You had seen her practice before the performance for a few days, and it was beautiful! If only things were like this when you were a student hereâŚ
âHello there! Youâre sitting all the way over here by yourself, are you okay?â A squeaky voice interrupted your reminiscing and you turned to see who it was.
The Traveler and Paimon⌠It seemed that you were blankly staring at them for too long because the floating one spoke again.
âUm⌠are you okay?âÂ
âOh! Iâm fine, sorry, sorry, I just spaced out for a second there,â you apologetically waved them off. This was going to be a bit annoying.
A while ago, you had decided to let go. Let go of the pain, of any possible thoughts of revenge, of the sheer grief you suffered from your loss. Because continuing to work yourself up like that would only worsen your illness and mental state. For the most part, youâd been successful, living each day as best you could along with your husband. You still thought about the segments though, always thankful for what they did for you.
But now that the Traveler stood in front of you in flesh and blood, your composure wavered a little. This was the same person who killed Omega. You couldnât help but feel a twinge of hatred, but you relaxed with a deep breath.
âThatâs okay! Well, Paimon is Paimon, and this here is the Traveler. We saw you here by yourself and just wanted to see if you were alright!â The blonde nodded in affirmation.
âAh, I see. Thereâs no need to worry about me. My body canât handle standing for so long, so itâs better for me to sit, even if Iâm a bit far away from the stage.â There was no harm in telling them right off the bat because you had a feeling that Paimonâs line of questioning would make you reveal your illness anyway. She talked a lot, according to your fellow Fatuis.
âHuh? Are you injured?â
âNo, itâs just my illness. My body struggles to do many things a healthy person would, so I need to be careful.â The pair nodded at you in sympathy.
âOh⌠Paimon is sorry about that. That sounds really toughâŚâÂ
âItâs alright. Itâs been like this for many years, so Iâve grown accustomed to it.â The fairy placed her hand on her chest in understanding before she brightened.
âAh, Paimon has a good idea! Why donât we keep you company during the performance? You know, weâve been here loads of times and are even friends with Nilou! We can definitely tell you some cool things!â
âOh, that sounds⌠nice.â You smiled at them, not because you liked them, but more because you were interested in their stories about this place. Paimon cheered and the Traveler took a seat near you. It made your skin crawl a bit, but you didnât show any outward reaction.
âSay, Paimon never asked your name.â
âYou can call me [Name].â The only person who knew you in this country was the Dendro Archon, and you doubted they would tell her about you, so there was no point in using another name. Also that was too much work.
âSo [Name], is this your first time in Sumeru? We can show you all the best restaurants if you need it!â Ah, so the agents were also accurate when they said she liked food a lot. And the fact the Traveler was silent most of the time.
âNo, I used to live here. But, I moved away a long time ago, so this is my first time back in many years.â
âThat sounds nice. It must feel good to be back, huh? Itâs too bad the Interdarshan Championship isnât taking place this year. That would have been lots of fun!â Paimon sighed, memories of the last one flowing through her mind. Ah yes, you remember that as well. You and Zandik were never chosen as nominees of course⌠but it was a fun event to observe. For you at least. Zandik would always go on about how foolish the competitors were, how they couldnât see how simple the seemingly difficult challenge was. You always laughed at his criticism.
âMhm, itâs too bad. Maybe I can come back another time to see that.â
âYeah, you definitely should! Speaking of, did you come here with anyone?â
âYes, my husband accompanied me here. But heâs working right now, so Iâm by myself.â
âAww, thatâs too bad. It must be lonely to enjoy a festival by yourself, huh?â
âPerhaps a little bit, but I do not mind. Heâs taken care of me for countless years along with his work duties, itâs more than enough for me to even have the opportunity to experience this festival.â
âWow, you two really do sound like a loving couple!â
âHehe, yes⌠yes, we are,â you had started to smile loopily at the thought of Dottore and ignored the look the Traveler and Paimon gave you. But your attention returned when the stage lights flickered on and the crowd started to simmer down.
âLooks like the performance is starting! Oh, Paimon canât wait to see what Nilou has in store this time!â You were excited to see it as well.
â
The performances were delightful. The play was well-acted and interesting, and the red-haired girlâs dance at the end was beautiful. Huh⌠you wish they had more festivals like this in Snezhnaya. Or maybe they did, and you didnât know about them. Youâd have to ask Bina about that when you return.
âThat was so, so touching,â Paimon sniffed as the Traveler comforted their friend. You couldnât help but agree as well. âWe have to go say hi to Nilou now!â The Traveler and Paimon rose as you watched them.
âJust stay here [Name], weâll be back in a few minutes!â You smiled at them as they went off to greet their friend before you quickly dropped your expression. Stay? With them? Nah, you had enough for today. You wanted to go back to Dottore now and bother him to let you cuddle him on his lap. So when they werenât looking, you slipped out of the theater, and your bodyguards slyly followed, attracting the attention of no one.
Ah, you had a lot of things to say to Dottore now, didnât youâŚ
â
âHuh? Where did [Name] go?â When the pair returned, you were gone.
âThey must have left. I bet itâs because you were asking them so many questions, Paimon,â the Traveler teased her.
âHey! Paimon was being friendly and they didnât seem to mind! Anyway, letâs go outside. Itâs only been a few minutes, maybe theyâre still around.â The pair exited and walked around the city for a bit, but you had already disappeared into thin air.
âTraveler, Paimon! Itâs nice to see you again!â A gentle voice called out to them. It was Nahida, who walked up to them with a bright smile on her face. The other two responded in kind.
âOh, hey Nahida! Long time no see, huh?â
âYes, itâs been quite a while. You must come over for a bit and tell me about your travels sometime. I guess youâve been enjoying the Akademiya Extravaganza, right?â
âYup! Traveler and Paimon enjoyed a lot of fun games and delicious food! And then we went to see some performances at the theater, and now we were looking for someone, but eh, itâs not really important anymore.â
âHmm? Looking for who?â
âJust someone we met a few hours ago at the theater. Their name is [Name].â The Dendro Archonâs eyes widened at the mention of your name, immediately straightening up.
â[Name]? Did you say [Name]?â The Traveler and Paimon noticed the Godâs surprised expression and inquired about it.
âYeah, do you know them, Nahida?â
âI⌠I canât believe it. Do they happen to look likeâŚâ Nahida then went off to give a brief description of you, and the Traveler confirmed that you indeed matched her words. Paimon was a bit worried.
âNahida, why are you asking us this? Youâre making it seem like we were talking to a long-lost criminal or something.â
âWell, I suppose that wouldnât be too far off. This [Name] that youâve met is⌠part of the Fatui. But thatâs not the big part. Theyâre the Doctorâs lover.â It was silent for a few seconds before Paimon responded, nearly yelling as the Travelerâs jaw dropped.
âThe man [Name] is married to is THE DOCTOR?!â
âOh, so theyâre married now? Last time I heard they werenât.â
âNahida, surely you must be mistaken, right? Youâre far too casual about this, no one could be dating the Doctor of their own free will!â Nahida was about to respond when yet another voice interrupted.
âSheâs not lying.â A familiar voice echoed from somewhere and the group turned to face it. It was the former Sixth Harbinger, standing to the side, braced against the wall. âThat [Name] is indeed the partner of Dottore. I met them while I was in the Fatui.â
âAhh⌠Paimonâs head hurtsâŚâ The Traveler nodded in agreement as they too rubbed their head at this revelation. âBut why? Why would they want to be with the Doctor?â
âItâs futile to ask me about their relationship,â the puppet scoffed. âI cannot begin to comprehend how the two of them supposedly love each other. Iâve spoken to them a few timesâŚâ the puppet thought back to those encounters in the lab, âbut our conversations did little to enlighten me on the nature of their relationship.â
â[Name] and Dottore have a long history together. Itâs⌠complicated, but Iâm not lying when I say theyâve been together for centuries. But what concerns me is that if [Name] is here, then the Doctor must be close by as well⌠and the Fatui too⌠He wouldnât let them roam around all by themselves.â
âOh no! Thatâs right, [Name] said that their husband accompanied them here. So that means the Doctor is in Sumeru!â
âI see⌠the Matra would have noticed if a boat of Fatui arrived at the port⌠so that means the other agents must be well disguised. But nothing has happened lately. Sumeru has been at peace like usual, thereâs nothing that the Fatui have been digging their nose into recently. I wonderâŚâ the God of Wisdom began to mumble to herself while Wanderer merely looked on.
âPaimon would have never guessed they were in the Fatui⌠do you think they were lying about their illness too?â
âNo, they are indeed afflicted with a mysterious illness. From what I know, [Name] used to be quite a formidable force four hundred years ago. But their illness gradually sapped their strength away from them, leaving them as they are now⌠so they have virtually no physical prowess anymore.â
âOh⌠thatâs quite sad. Wait, but that doesnât change the fact theyâre part of the Fatui, with the Doctor no less! Theyâre our enemy, no doubt!â
âThatâs not to mean [Name] is weak. Although their mind has certainly been ravaged by many things, they possess a strong will. Not to mention, they are the one and only Doctorâs close confidant. Iâm sure if pressed, they have some tricks up their sleeves.â
âWe have to do something! The Fatui are always up to no good, I bet they have some horrible, evil plan to⌠to⌠ruin the Akademiya Extravaganza! We canât let them do that!â Paimon exclaimed while the Traveler nodded in complete agreement. âNahida, whatâs the plan?â
âThe plan is to let them be.â
âH-Huh? Nahida, youâre just going to let them go?â
âThatâs correct, Paimon.â
âLesser Lord Kusanali, are you sure?â Even Wanderer, who usually went along with the God albeit with some moaning and groaning, had an objection.
âThe festival has been going on for several days now, and tomorrow is the last day. If the Fatui truly were planning something, it would have been done by now. And to be honest, I suspect that the only reason the Doctor made the trip here was forâŚâ You, Nahida wanted to say, but then decided against it. She wasnât one hundred percent sure, after all. âActually, never mind. Donât worry about it, Traveler, Paimon. But if you happen to see them tomorrow, you could speak to them again. I am admittedly⌠interested in [Name].â
âWell⌠alright Nahida. We trust you.â
â
While the group was busy chatting about you, you were making your way back to Dottore. It was already evening, and all you wanted to do was relax in the embrace of your beloved. However today, the Fatui agents were escorting somewhere else rather than your temporary home. Where? The more you walked, the quicker you realized.
The large Ruin Golem in the mountains of Sumeruâs forest.
Seeing it from a distance brought back fond memories for you. You remember the first time you and Zandik entered it. He was incredibly fascinated with it and literally spent hours in it. Of course, you were forced to stay with him and help him with all the research and note-taking. But looking back, it was fun. And you may or may not have kissed him a lot in there, and he was very annoyed at you breaking his focus, but did nothing to stop you.
This same spot, near the Ruin Golem, was also a frequent star-gazing spot. Because he would spend so long there, even until night fell, and you kept insisting itâd be romantic to watch the stars here. He didnât really agree but⌠Zandik surprisingly indulged you more than you realized.
Soon, you were much closer to the Ruin Golem and Dottore was in sight, waiting for you. The Fatui agents bowed to you as you dismissed them and made your way over to your husband, who was patiently waiting for you while gazing at the large robot in front of him. You wondered if he had finished his work, for him to be wasting time like this.
(In reality, there was no real mission in Sumeru. The five-day long trip was done to indulge your long-time wishes. Pierro had only let Dottore go on it if he managed to finish at least three-quarters of his paperwork before the trip, and the other quarter during it. So needless to say, Dottore had worked quite hard to acquire this time off, but you didnât need to know that because then you would feel absolutely terrible and heâd have to deal with your countless apologies.)
â[Name],â he greeted you.
âZandik!â You immediately hugged him to which he reciprocated and patted your head. âI missed you! Oh, I have so much to tell you. You wouldnât believe what happened. I met the-â
âTraveler,â Dottore interrupted.
âYou know already?â
âOf course. I was notified the moment it happened.â
âOh.â Well, now that you think about it, that made sense. Of course, Dottore would be aware of everything that happened to you⌠you were alone, but in a way you werenât. He still had that overprotective and possessive streak, and rightfully so. He chuckled at your reaction.
âBut, I believe your point of view will be far more eye-opening. So please, do tell.â You brightened and immediately began prattling about everything, not before you two laid down on the grass and got comfortable, the same as you did four hundred years ago. Though Dottore wasnât particularly worried about the Traveler doing anything to you, no, of course, he had planned for this possibility (unlike you) and already had measures in place just in case anything happened.Â
So the conversation began to move onto softer things. Like you bringing up old memories every five seconds. For example, you two also used to come here frequently to investigate the forest for classes. Zandik usually found these ones boring and was much more interested in Ruin Machines, so you often sped through these boring expeditions in record time so he could do more âfunâ things.
âPerhaps we should do that again.â
âDo what? Investigate the biodiversity of Sumeruâs forest?â
âCorrect.â You laughed at his words but Dottore looked rather serious about it.
âIsnât the sun going to set soon? And I thought you werenât interested in that stuff anymore.âÂ
You were surprised he was doing this, but Dottore had already risen to his feet and stuck out his hand to you expectantly.
âNo matter. We can still see, no? And I do believe it will be interesting to see how it has changed over four hundred years.â That was a lie. He didnât actually care about the plants of the forest. He was only doing it because he knew it was something you would like. And he was right of course, for you smiled happily and took his hand, clasping it tightly.
âAlright then! Iâll lead the way, just like old times,â you puffed your chest out. âJust follow me, Zandik. And youâre taking notes this time! You donât know what you put my hand through all those years ago!â Dottore only chuckled at your huffing. You were always on note duty because he kept breaking his pens and spilling ink everywhere, much to your dismay.
But regardless, you two spent an evening examining Sumeruâs fauna, the conversation turning surprisingly rather intellectual. But it soon turned quiet as you two ended the night off by gazing at the stars, just like old times.Â
The stars may be a lie, but sometimes lies are still beautiful.
â
Today was the last day of the Akademiya Extravaganza, and you decided to spend the day enjoying the city one last time. You were set to leave with Dottore this afternoon, so you only had about half a day to do what you needed to do. You didnât know when youâd be back again, so you wanted to imprint it into your mind, and maybe get a few souvenirs as well. It all went well, you did what you needed to do, bought what you wanted and passed it on to your agents to keep for you, and were actually about to head back to Dottore when you met some familiar faces.
The Traveler and Paimon⌠again. It seemed like the Gods really did hate you, huh?Â
âHey [Name]!â That familiar high-pitched voice waved to you and called out your name⌠ugh. Just as you were about to go, too. But you pretended otherwise.
âHello Paimon, Traveler. It is good to see you again. I must apologize for leaving yesterday. I had⌠matters to attend to,â you apologized.
âDonât worry about that! Paimon understands.â You smiled back in response and waited to see if the pair would say anything else, but they just⌠stood there for a few seconds and looked at you.
âWell, if thatâs allâŚâ You turned to leave, but Paimon blurted out a strained response unusually quickly.
âWait! Paimon means, would you like to take a walk with us? Our conversation got cut short yesterday, it would be nice to talk a bit more.â You squinted a bit at Paimonâs expression. It seemed a bit⌠off. Regardless, you did have some more time to kill, and perhaps they would tell you something of amusement you could relay back to Dottore. So it wasnât too bad of a decision.
âAlright, that sounds fine,â you nodded in agreement. Paimon had to hold in her sigh of relief. And so the three of you began to walk, taking in the sights of the city. Paimon asked you some more questions, but she seemed a bit⌠nervous? You werenât dumb, the more she talked the easier it was to notice. The Traveler was good at keeping a poker face, but Paimon on the other hand, was not. She was nervously looking back and forth between you and the blonde. Which could only mean one thing.Â
They knew your real identity.Â
Ah, so they found out. Huh. You werenât expecting that, but you didnât care much. They were bound to find out eventually, so long as they kept fighting the Fatui. You didnât know if they were going to confront you right now or not, but you werenât going to wait around for it. You knew your Fatui bodyguards were close by somewhere, but you didnât want them to get hurt by the Traveler, so you stretched your arms out, a signal for them to back away a bit. Because you already had a defense mechanism readied that you didnât want to affect them. Courtesy of Dottore, of course.
So before Paimon could ask another question, you abruptly stopped. You two had exited the city, so there were no regular civilians around either.
â[Name], why did you-â
âThereâs no need to pretend anymore. You know who I am, donât you?â The looks on their faces gave it all away, and the Traveler instantly put up their guard, which you chuckled at.
âNow now, thereâs no need to get all worked up. Surely the ever-righteous Traveler wonât hurt a poor, defenseless soul like me, right?â You simply smiled at them, and Paimon was immediately on the verbal defense.
âHey! Youâre in no position here to be saying stuff like that! The Traveler here has taken out countless Fatui, youâre no different,â the travel guide bluffed. She remembered Nahidaâs instructions to let you be, but how could she let you talk to her like that?! âAnd, and,â she scratched her brain for another warning, âweâll take you to the Matra for questioning!â Paimon blurted out her best threat, which you only laughed at.
âOh no, Iâm so scaredâŚâ
âHey! Weâre not joking! Youâre connected with the Doctor, theyâll lock you up!â
âMhm, you know all of that, donât you? And yes, Iâm well aware of your martial prowess,â you looked directly at the blonde. âThe same hands killed Omega, didnât they?â At the segmentâs name, the Traveler stiffened. The look in your eyes wasnât the same as it was before. It had a carefully veiled sense of loathing that had come up to the surface.
âYou know, for years I wondered to myself, how did Omega look like in his last moments? What did he think of? What did he do?â Your voice gradually became a soft whisper. âThese questions used to drive me mad, but I donât think I want to know the answer anymore.â The two were shocked at the clear love and longing you had in your voice for the deceased segment. It wasnât fake at all.
âBut why? Why would you willingly be with someone like the Doctor?â Earlier that day, the Traveler and Paimon had decided to scout Sumeru again in hopes of finding notes that you left behind, and after careful exploration once again, they did. Your notes, however, always had careful logical additions left by Zandik. And then, in response⌠youâd flirt with him on the note, to which the scholar never responded. The pair didnât know what to feel or say to that.
âAh, there it is. The same question I receive every time. But itâs okay. I can understand your confusion. Though if I were to stand here and tell you every reason why, it would make you only more confused. So let me answer your question with the simplest answer of them all. I love Dottore. Dottore loves me. That is the foundation of our relationship.â Unfortunately, that answer seemed to only make the two more confused.Â
â⌠It seems that you still do not understand. But thatâs okay. Itâs not like it matters anyway,â you supposed they were unconvinced a man such as Dottore could love, but you werenât here to convince them of that. So then you turned to leave before Paimon spoke again.
âWhere do you think youâre going? You are coming with Traveler and Paimon!â You let out a sigh at this creatureâs persistence. Looks like youâd have to do something.
âYou know, I was really hoping I wouldnât have to use this,â you mumbled under your breath before you retrieved a pill from your pocket and swallowed it, although it was a different color from your regular ones. The Traveler continued to watch on carefully, ready to summon their sword at any second.
âHmph! Any last words?â Paimon put her hands on her hips as she stared at you. You thoughtfully looked up and began to think, before you came up with something. You despised the Traveler, but a question couldnât help but linger in your chest. And hey, theyâve helped Childe and Arlecchino in the past, despite nearly being killed by them, right? And that Electro God too. You didnât know if they were stupid or just too nice. It was worth a shot. And, you didnât care if you were selfish or not. You were tired of being nice.
âTraveler⌠may I ask you a favor?â
The Traveler raised their eyebrow, partially offended and shocked you would ever ask them that considering the antagonistic stance you took. That was the last thing they expected, but you took their silence as an opportunity to continue.
âYou hop to different worlds, donât you? Different universes?â The Traveler nodded, unsure of where you were going with this. Your gaze flickered to the floor, eyebrows furrowing before you made up your mind.
âThen, when you leave Teyvat, could you⌠look for me?â Out of everything that could have come out of your mouth, the Traveler could not have expected that.
âI want to know⌠I just want to know if there exists a world, where none of this happened. Where I was never sick, where he didnât have to do all of this to find a cure. I want to know if thereâs a world where everything is okay for us.â Your eyes fluttered shut as you spoke, loads of memories flashing through your head about everything youâve gone through. The Traveler and Paimon remained speechless because they truly did not know what to say, before you cringed at yourself for saying something so stupid.
âAh, what am I saying? I know you have no sympathy for us, it was dumb to ask,â you waved it off. âForget it. But Iâm afraid Iâve wasted too much time here with you. I have things to attend to.â At that moment, you reached into your pocket and produced a strange device, and before the Traveler could summon their sword, an irregular, headache-inducing sound echoed throughout the area. Instantly, the Traveler knew it was the same sound device Omega had used to put them to sleep all those years ago. But it was too late, as their mind became foggy and their knees buckled to the floor.
âTo think that you fell for the same thing twice⌠thatâs kind of embarrassing for you, mighty Traveler,â your laugh was the last thing they heard before they fell into a dream. âItâs a good thing Dottore told me to carry this thing⌠and made a pill so the effects wouldnât work on me. Well, bye now.â
â
After rendering those two unconscious, you made your way to the boat you and Dottore were going to leave in. Your agents had caught back up to you and you swore you heard them mumbling about how âcoolâ you were. It was cute.
You saw your husband standing leisurely on the boat. You guess he had no reason to disguise himself considering he was already about to leave. You immediately smiled and climbed onto the boat with his help.
âI guess you were immediately notified of what happened, werenât you?â You teased.Â
âOf course,â he went along with your tone. âI am always aware of what hindrances may plague my spouse.â You hummed in acknowledgment as you watched the Fatui prepare to set off.
âYou know, this whole trip, Iâve been thinking something stupid.â
âNo thought from you could be stupid. Do tell.â
âIâve been thinking⌠that I love you so much that it may begin to physically hurt me when youâre not around.â Dottore seemed amused.
âIs that so?â
âYes, really! All those times when you left me alone in the lab, I swear I started developing some side effects!â You pouted as Dottore found himself laughing at your pain.
âWell, not to worry. I am a doctor, after all, I know very well how to treat this ailment.â Dottore ran his fingers up and down your neck, leaving behind a tingling sensation.
âOh, do you? Well, go ahead, doctor. Make me feel better.â
âI would be delighted to but, the treatment is a little⌠hands-on,â his deep voice made your heart race with excitement.
âArenât you the one who always gets mad at me for trying to skip my medicine? I see no reason to hesitate.â You smiled boldly.
âAs you wish. But donât say I didnât warn youâŚâ Dottore then pressed you against the railing of the boat, holding you down so you wouldnât tip over, and then began to lean into your lips.
(The Fatui agents kept their heads turned the whole time.)
â
That had happened years before the Traveler defeated the Doctor, and consequently killed you in the process. Sometimes they wonder if things could have turned out differently. Especially since some of the other Harbingers were certainly not pleased with them when they finally fought, namely the Third, but she too eventually met her demise. But whatâs done is done.
The Traveler thought that would be the last they ever saw of you and the Doctor, but they were wrong. As one would expect, Dottore was connected with many of the events in Teyvat, and so he popped up here and there again throughout the rest of the Travelerâs journey.
But one thing they did not expect was to see you and Dottore again. Where? The Ley Lines had somehow shown them people from the past, as they once did with the Shogun.Â
It was⌠strange. Strange to see the two of you just be normal. Normal people, normal students before it all changed. You, a stark contrast to the person they saw before - energetic, bubbly, handling your weapon with ease as you protected Zandik from any possible danger. Zandik, a lot more grouchy and less suave, morally ambiguous but not quite evil yet. Two people who were alone and found company in each otherâs likeness. It created a sort of⌠understanding for the Traveler. Not forgiveness. Understanding.
So when they finally left Teyvat, they decided to fulfill that favor you had asked them. To find you in another universe. It was also to satisfy a sort of curiosity they had themselves. Would you two truly be happy in another world? They would find out as long as they continued to journey with their sibling. So they traveled and traveled and met many new people, and went on many new adventures, your request lingering in the back of their mind every time they visited a new planet.
Admittedly, it was actually kind of⌠sad to see your fates in the other universes. In many universes, you died, or he died, leaving the other all alone unable to come to terms with their fate. In some universes, you were ill again. You did not survive. In others the relationship did not last, breaking it off due to numerous reasons out of your or Zandikâs control. And maybe the worst fate of them all⌠you two never crossed paths. Never able to give the other a chance at love.
If the Traveler had a Mora for every time fate divided you two, they might be as rich as Pantalone. They wondered if your request would ever be finished. So when the Traveler entered the next universe, they werenât expecting much.Â
This world was a bit different from the others. It had no supernatural powers, but it had great technology. Things like âinternetâ and âphonesâ and âcomputers.â But they had gotten accustomed to it quickly, as they always had. Right now they were at an outdoor cafe, waiting for their sibling when they heard a familiar voice.
âUgh, I swear, as soon as the term ends, I will be running to give that guy a scalding rating!â The voice spoke with annoyance and a slam followed soon after, presumably textbooks dumped onto the table. This cafe was frequented by students, so this was no surprise for the Traveler. Cheap, yummy, and a good study spot is what they heard from passersby.Â
âI told you not to take him,â another grouchy voice replied. âYou brought this on yourself.â
âYou know that he was my only option! I literally got the last seat in the class,â you whined back, the chairs dragging across the concrete. âBesides, I donât want to hear that from you when you complain about your professors every single day, Zandik.â That name nearly made the Traveler choke on their drink.
Zandik? Did they hear that right They turned around, hoping not to arouse attention, and then their eyes widened as they looked at the pair that just arrived.
They were the spitting image of the [Name] and Dottore from Teyvat, although these people were dressed in different clothes that were normal for this planet. There were a few minor differences that the Traveler only recognized because they were familiar with Teyvatâs version of you, but there was no doubt about it.
These two people were this planetâs version of you and Dottore. But the question was, were you two happy together? The Traveler needed to find out, and this position wasnât good for spying so they moved to another inconspicuous location.
Zandik only rolled his eyes at your defiant quip before opening his heavy textbook, which you soon followed suit. The friendly banter between the two of you flowed naturally. When the food came, you tried feeding him the piece of cake which Zandik tried shooing your hand away, but had to give in after a while with slightly red cheeks. Your hands occasionally brushed against each other, but neither of you pulled away. Interesting, very interesting. Could this be the universe
After you two left the cafe, the Traveler decided to follow. This was probably a bit stalkerish, but they just needed to confirm. (Good thing they had skill in this area.)Â
In the busy public streets, your shoulders only brushed, but when it became more deserted, you reached out to hold hands with Zandik. He huffed and mumbled something to you, which the blonde could not hear, though you only responded with a laugh as you squeezed his hand tighter. But then your attention was diverted by something else.
âOh, look there Zandik! Do you see that?â You whisper-yelled, drawing his attention to a tree branch. âItâs a raven and a sparrow! Together! The thing is on top of the otherâs head!â You couldnât contain your amusement. âIsnât that really strange? Donât ravens eat sparrows sometimes?â
âYes, and the sparrow must be rather stupid for allowing itself to get so close to something that can kill it,â Zandik said bluntly.
âThatâs not nice,â you poked him for that comment. âJust because theyâre different doesnât mean they canât be friends. Just like us, Zandik!â
âThe world is not that nice, [Name],â he sighed, your optimism causing him great headaches sometimes.
âYeah, I know thatttt~. But you never know! Hehe, you know, this reminds me of the time a few months back when a butterfly landed on your nose. You looked so cute! Ah, Iâm so glad I got a picture.â Zandik immediately scowled, because you set the bloody thing as your wallpaper, so anyone who looked at your phoneâs home screen could see the embarrassing moment. Ajax and his wretched finance and theater friends did not let him hear the end of it. Your boyfriend then started walking much faster, dragging you along as you yelped at the increased speed.
âStop babbling and hurry up, otherwise Iâll leave you behind.â
âOkay, okay! Just slow down!!â
Soon, the two of you reached your newly rented apartment. Both of you had only recently moved out of the dorms, but it had been a lot of fun decorating and growing accustomed to this new life. The Traveler watched as you disappeared into the building, and then noticed your figure again through a window near the upper level. You were cradling an animal, a cat actually, and kissed it gently. Zandik then made his way over, uncharacteristically scratching its chin as well, before saying something to you. (Perhaps scolding you for giving your pet too much attention. A very Zandik way of saying he himself wanted more attention too.) You only shook your head with mirth before pressing a kiss to your loverâs lips, and the two of you moved away from the window, now out of sight.
Well, the Travelerâs job was done now. You and Zandik were happy. Maybe not in Teyvat, maybe not in any other world but⌠you two were happy in this one. And that was all you wished for.
[Name] and Zandik were happy.
And thatâs the perfect ending for a fairy tale, right?
