this hug breaks my heart and mends it, too

remember how you can say that comfort doesn't come naturally to Halsin and that he's restless and roaming, and it will be the correct, halsin-endorsed answer? this is what i think about when i see how he just quietly exhales and closes his eyes. that this moment is when he feels comforted.

like... at first he's just inviting you to be comforted in his arms, but as you keep holding him and not letting go, he also relaxes and allows himself a moment of calm and peace.

A quiet night.

There's been some confusion on the edges of camp. This is not the first instance, nor the first person in need of a listening ear to approach this particular bear sow. This is just the first instance in which Halsin has come upon the deeply concerning scene of a companion addressing a TRUE bear as if it were him.

He'll be sure, moving forward, to announce when he goes on his walks and what shape he shall be taking that walk in.

Regardless, that bear is a keen and sympathetic listener.
