“Master Windu,” Obi-Wan bowed politely to him and the members of the council that were with him. “Pursuant to Section 3 Subclause 7 of the—”
“Kenobi, please.” Mace pinched the bridge of his nose. “Just spit it out.”
Obi-Wan grinned, lifting his arms to show off his mismatched kom'rke. “My friends, I am leaving the Jedi Order. As the spouse of a system ruler it would be inappropriate—”
Master Shaak Ti leapt to her feet, pointing at several other Masters. “Pay up!” she shouted. “Who wins the betting pool? Me!”
“I told you all. Quinlan said he took Qui-Gon's river rock,” Master Tholme chuckled, looking entirely smug. “Obi-Wan wasn't coming back this time.” He and Master Nu shook hands.
Mace Windu sighed and pulled something out of his sleeve to throw it at Shaak Ti. “You couldn't have married the Mand'alor on your trip four years ago and won me the pool?” he asked.
“Or waited until after you Knighted your Padawan?” Master Plo Koon pleaded.
“I must move as the Force wills me, Masters,” Obi-Wan said, projecting an air of earnest seriousness.
