Are you staying home from work/school? I am not! I’m technically classified as an essential worker since I’m a receptionist at a nursing home/rehab facility for senior citizens. So I’m still going to work. There are a lot of regulations and new protocols to follow, and it’s been really hard on our residents not being able to see their family members.

If you’re staying home, who’s there with you? Though I’m still going out to work, my husband has been working from home. It’s just him, me, and our two cats, but that’s no different from before quarantine, really. 

Are you a homebody? Oh, absolutely. All of my hobbies are indoor activities, and the only things I miss acutely that I can’t do because of quarantine is go out to eat and attend game nights at my best friend’s. We play all sorts of card games and board games, but we also play Pathfinder. I miss our campaign.

What movies have you watched recently? What shows are you watching? The two most recent movies I’ve watched are PK and Birds of Prey. I really enjoyed PK. It had an amazing message for such a zany premise. Birds of Prey, otoh, was a bit of a let down for me. I was really looking forward to it, but it felt like they tried to cram too much into one movie. It would’ve benefited from deciding between being a Harley Quinn movie or a Birds of Prey movie. The soundtrack was absolutely phenomenal, though. As far as TV shows go, I’m watching Parks and Rec with my husband and on my own I’m watching the latest season of Fruits Basket and binging Catfish (I occasionally indulge in trashy reality TV, don’t judge me). 

An event that you were looking forward to that got cancelled? My husband, our best friends, and I do a ‘cheat day’ where we go off our usual individual plans of eating better (i.e., not like we’re living off pizza and ramen like in our early twenties, haaa) once every two months. One was scheduled for my husband’s birthday in April. It was also his 40th. And we had to stay home and see no one. We picked up pizza for ourselves for lunch and then had burgers and CHEESE FRIES from a new place for dinner, but taking stuff home and not getting to see our friends was a huge bummer for him especially.

What are you doing for self-care? I have been reading a ton of fanfic because escapism is a big part of soothing my anxiety in general, and that works really well for that. I’ve also been writing a lot, and that gives me a sense of accomplishment, which is nice. I listen to music to de-stress, and my go-tos right now are anything by Ludovico Einaudi and Jean-Michel Blais. I just really love piano compositions, I guess. 😊

SNAM Day 6: POC Snape

Hey comrades, it’s another Snape Appreciation Month drawing! This one’s theme is POC Snape. I’ve actually seen a lot of fantastic portrayals of Snape as a person of colour, like Elenianz’ art and his portrayal in The Gift of Kindness by hippocrates460 to name a few. I was actually someone inspired by the latter because it includes scenes of Snape sharing an aspect of his culture with  his choice of date. I ended up drawing Snape as Vietnamese, and he is taking Harry on a date to have  Phở :3 It’s late in the evening at an outdoor cafe<3
