Kkoongie And Baby Girl ~ Lee Taemin

The smiles on both of your faces grew as soon as Kkoongie came running through the house to see that the two, or three, of you were home. After days of being cared for by Taemin’s parents, she couldn’t wait to have you both back and gather your attention again.

“Did you miss us?” Taemin grinned, kneeling down to tickle his knuckles against the side of her face, giving you the space that you needed to walk in with the baby carrier in hand.

You sat down on the sofa once you were there, placing the carrier down on the floor beside you. The new item in your home immediately caught Kkoongie’s attention as she left Taemin’s side and moved through the room, with intrigue getting the better of her as always.

Her cheeks rubbed against the edges of the carrier several times, sniffing around it too as she tried to figure it out. However, as you reached in and took your new-born daughter out, that was really when her attention was captured, eyes studying what you did very closely.

Taemin watched on from a distance as you slowly lowered your daughter down in your hold so that Kkoongie to take a closer look. “She seems so confused,” Taemin laughed as Kkoongie walked all around your daughter, held tightly in your hold.

“I can’t quite figure out whether she likes her or not just yet.”

“She definitely seems as if she’s trying to grasp Y/D/N’s scent, her little nose is going crazy.”

As Kkoongie seemed to settle, you placed your daughter down on the carpet, keeping a close eye on things as Kkoongie took a few steps towards her straight away.

She explored everything as your daughter stared back at her with wide eyes, a little confused as to what was going on. Everything was new for her as you finally got to bring her home, taking it all in with her eyes flickering all around the room.

Once the two of them seemed to relax a little, Taemin came across to join you on the sofa too. His arm draped over your shoulders as you watched Kkoongie, making sure that nothing happened as she finally stopped sniffing around your daughter.

“It seems like Kkoongie’s taken quite a liking to Y/D/N’s feet.”

“The nurse did say that she’d avoid her face.”

Taemin nodded back at you with a proud smile, “it’s early days, but it seems like we might have a new set of best friends on our hands.”

In the blink of an eye, Kkoongie seemed to settle, curling up around your daughter’s feet where she laid. The feeling of soft fur tickling against the sole of her foot had your daughter excited, although a little confused too as to what the sudden sensation was.

“Kkoongie seems happy now, but just imagine what it’ll be like when Y/D/N is able to start stroking and playing with her,” you laughed back across to Taemin, “these two could be carnage.”

“We definitely can’t leave them alone,” he chuckled, “who knows what mess we’ll come back to.”

Your head nodded in agreement with him as you glanced back down at them both, with Kkoongie seemingly moments away from a deep sleep, your daughter didn’t seem too far away either.

“I wonder if she recognises any of the scent form your bump,” Taemin whispered, stunned by how easily Kkoongie took to your daughter, knowing just how shy she usually got around new people, “she loved your baby bump.”

“I feel kind of bad that she doesn’t have a bump to cuddle up to at night now,” you responded, looking down to your stomach where your bump had somewhat disappeared.

Taemin’s hand moved down to rest over it as he followed your gaze, offering you a reassuring smile. “I still think that she’ll cuddle up to you at night, she didn’t leave your side at all during those nine months, she doesn’t know any different now.”

Despite her small stature, Kkoongie had definitely been your biggest protector whilst you were pregnant. Just about every night she could be found on your bed, usually lying in between the two of you, curled up around your bump as best as she could, often leaving Taemin with no choice but to lay away from you.

It was almost as if the two of them had been together for years as you looked back down at them both. “I think we’ll have to be careful about Kkoongie leaping into bed with Y/D/N, not us.”

“The midwife did say that the cot would be quite appealing to Kkoongie,” you reminded Taemin¸ “I give it less than a day before we find her asleep in the baby carrier at some point, she won’t be able to ignore how cosy that is.

Comfort was something that Kkoongie loved, and around your apartment she got plenty of it. But it was the items that you had bought whilst you waited for your daughter to arrive that she really took a liking too, sleeping on many of them constantly.

“I think the four of us are going to be just fine,” Taemin whispered, pressing a kiss to the side of your head as you both shifted to look at the two of them sleeping on the carpet, “I don’t know why we ever worried about how Kkoongie would react with a baby.”

Your head nodded in agreement as your smile grew. It was one of the things that had worried you the most over the past nine months, but as you watched the two of them sleep closely to each other, you couldn’t believe why you ever fretted.

You always knew how kind Kkoongie was, but never did you imagine her to be as sweet and protective as she was around your daughter, embracing the new-born scent.

“I feel like I won the lottery.”

Your eyes flickered across to Taemin as he spoke, noticing how serious he was by the look in his eyes. “Can you believe that this is our family now?” You asked, wishing that you could stay in the bubble that you found yourselves in forever.

Things had gone better than either of you could have imagined, you’d hoped that with a bit of time the two of them would bond, but it already seemed like they’d been together for years. Luckily for you both, Kkoongie took to your daughter straight away, but after sleeping on most of her things for the past nine months, really it was the least that she could do.

“We’re going to have to take a photo of this,” Taemin told you, fumbling around for his phone, “I want everyone to see how cute the two of them are, my mum especially is going to go crazy at seeing this.”

“I bet the boys will adore it too.”

“They’ll be annoyed that we’re home and haven’t invited them round to meet Y/D/N yet,” he assured you, “if they had it their way, they probably would have been in the room with you when Y/D/N arrived.”

Your eyes rolled at how eager the boys were, somehow you knew that they’d find a way to be upset that Kkoongie had met your daughter before they had.

“I don’t want to move either of them,” Taemin told you as he quietly took a photo, “I just want them to stay like this forever and be the best of friends. I always saw photos of animals and babies, but I never imagined how cute it would be in real life.”

“Why do I feel like your phone is going to be filled with Kkoongie and Y/D/N photos in no time at all?” You quizzed, knowing exactly what Taemin was like.

His eyes went wide back across at you, “can you blame me when the two of them already look pretty adorable? And they’re only going to get cuter too.”

“I have to admit, they do look adorable right now.”

"When you hear it, you'll know you've met the one." Your mother said to you as you stared at her starry-eyed and filled with so much excitement.

Since you were a kid, you dreamt of the day you met the love of your life, your perfect half, your soulmate. Just like your parents did when they were young. You lived with the idea of the unmistakable ringing in your head when you met the person you were destined to be with.

Every relationship you entered you'd hoped to hear that ringing that you so desperately sought after to no avail.

Sure, all your peers made fun of you. But you always wanted the storybook love story and if people wanted to laugh at you, to hell with them.

Of course though, as you grew older you had to put your search for your soulmate on the back-burner and had to think more realistically. Then you started to pursue your academics before you dropped out to become a trainee under JYP Entertainment. As you were one of the ace trainees, you had the opportunity to work with a lot of idols. You got along with most of them, in fact they considered you a good friend.

And then there was the headache that was Shin Ryujin.

Although Itzy's Center was charming and kind to almost everyone and honestly you couldn't really say that she was terrible company but she was a notorious flirt. And she knew just how to push your buttons.

From the moment you both met during one of Itzy's dance rehearsals, she was absolutely insufferable. Always following you around and asking you personal questions, all while making sure to flirt with you incessantly. While you wouldn't mind the attention, you knew she wasn't your soulmate.

There was no ringing after all.

"Hey gorgeous!" Ryujin's voice rang through the halls of the company building. You reluctantly turned around to see the confident grin on the dancer's face as she held out a bottle of water for you to take. You smiled the light irritation away. "Shouldn't you be at practice, Ryujin?"

She begun walking backwards, making sure that she would continuously see your face. "I wanted to make sure you had water. Wouldn't want you to be all fatigued while I'm not there to catch you if you fall." Ryujin explained as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.

"Plus, I wanted to see you." She added with a cocky smirk. Heat started to fill your cheeks as you rolled your eyes. You were irritated with her but you also couldn't deny that the dancer was indeed attractive and the way she hyper-fixated on you also made you flustered.

But you weren't delusional either, Shin Ryujin wouldn't be your soulmate.

"You're cute when you blush." She whispered getting extremely close to your face, her eyes peering into yours with a playful glint in her eyes. Before you knew it, you were in front of your assigned practice room.

"Good bye, Shin Ryujin." You said without giving her a second glance.

"Hold on now, gorgeous." You froze volume of her voice as the other trainees began watching the both of you, glaring at you as they whispered among themselves. Quickly, you shot Ryujin a glare before she held her hands up in defeat. "I was just going to say don't forget your water." She chided before pushing the plastic bottle into your hands.

The dancer pressed her index finger under your chin teasingly, "Don't miss me too much, alright gorgeous?" Again, you rolled your eyes before shoving the idol away as she laughed and waved, walking away, probably to meet up with her other members.

You bit the dopey smile that threatened to break as you pressed the cold bottle to your lips, shaking your head. A giddy feeling festering in the pit of your stomach, making your skin tingle a little bit.

"Like Ryujin would take her seriously." One of your fellow trainees grumbled, loud enough to catch your attention. You looked at her as she gave you a pointed glare. You shrunk under her gaze and made yourself scarce the entire practice period.

Hours of grueling practice had passed and you were all placed into groups. As usual, you had to execute a set of choreography and you had nailed it at this point. Confidently, you stood in front of everyone with your group.

In the middle of the performance though, you had to change positions and got tripped over by one of the other trainees. You fell to the ground with a loud 'thud.'

You groaned softly and got up to meet eyes with the same trainee from earlier. She feigned innocence and offered you a hand. "I'm sooooo sorry, N/n-yah! I didn't mean to." You offered her a tight smile and got up on your own. You apologized to the trainer and your fellow trainees before you started from the beginning again.

Long story short, she tripped you over again twice. The last one being the last straw. "What is your problem with me?" You asked, fuelled with rage, other trainees having to keep you separated from her.

"My problem with you is you're an ambitious little urchin who can't even get basic choreography right! And you're supposed to be one of the best?" She paused, jutting her finger in your direction. "You are nothing. You hear?"

The trainer had to intervene and reprimanded both of you, ending the practice there and reminding you both to act your age. The trainee that had tripped you walked into you after saying, "Better fucking watch yourself, you little freak. I have more chances of debuting and being Ryujin's soulmate. So stay out of my way, you talentless hack."

With that you were left alone in the room. Ruminating on everything and on the brink of tears. You took a deep breath and closed your eyes. Reminding yourself that you were here for a reason. All to no avail, she'd made you feel like trash.

Especially the comments on your talents. And the Ryujin bits...they made you think about the dancer more and more.

"Trying to avoid me?"

'For fucks sake, why did she have to be here' You thought to yourself as you took a deep breathe. You looked up from your palms to see Ryujin smiling down at you, hair in a messy bun and a gym bag slung over her shoulder.

There was just something so comforting about her though, like you knew that she wouldn't judge you. It was unexplainable. You merely stared at her, tears beginning to fill your eyes, not that she could see that, it was dark in the room at this point.

Just as she opened her mouth to comment on how intensely you were staring at her, something in you broke. You wanted to feel some form of comfort but why did you feel the need for it to come from Ryujin of all people.

The smug grin on her face faded almost instantly as you threw your head back, tears freely running down your cheeks and your lip quivering uncontrollably. Ryujin fell down to her knees in front of you, her expression deadly serious as she placed a shaky yet delicate hand on your cheek.

You couldn't even bring yourself to pull away.

Her eyes bore into yours with all seriousness, "Who did this?"

Your heart leaped in your chest and your eyes went wide as you stared into Ryujin's eyes. But you merely shook your head and buried against your knees. While you were entrapped in darkness, you heard soft footsteps then the sound faded. A deep sigh fell from your lips, 'Of course she left, probably out to find some other girl to fill the time between practice...'

Just as you were about to fall into your thoughts again, a soft melody begun playing in the background, filling the atmosphere of the room with an inexplicable serenity. You raised your head, eyes now bloodshot, as Ryujin threw her gym bag onto one of the seats, before returning to your side.

You were both leaned up against the mirror of the rehearsal room. The dancer hat to be sitting a few inches away from you but it felt so much closer. For a moment, neither of you know why you're there in that moment together, but it all feels so right.

"Look..." Ryujin started nervously. "I know...that training is hard and a lot of your fellow trainees will drag you down and cuss you out." You weren't looking at her, your eyes were trained on the shiny wood-look tiles of the ground, but you could sense her staring at you.

To say it made you nervous was an understatement.

"But that only means that they see you as a threat. You're an amazing dancer and your vocals can make anyone swoon." Once again, she paused, but Ryujin took a brave step forward by taking your hand in hers.

"You're special, Y/n."

Then it happened.

A sharp ringing in your ears made you lean to the side, groaning softly as you clutched your head. Your eyes glued shut and you began panicking.

"Y/n, what's happening?" Ryujin's voice was the only thing that was clear but immediately you opened your eyes and looked at her. Heart pounding violently against your chest, your breathe was laboured, and a very obvious flush now coated your cheeks as you stared at the dancer.

Seeing the expression on your face, Ryujin smiled at you shyly before she scratched the back of her neck awkwardly. You gasped, offended, before slapping her arm gently.

"Y-You knew!" You exclaimed out with wide eyes. Ryujin laughed nervously, trying to stammer out an excuse as you stared at her appalled and in disbelief. You both faced away from one another, individually trying to calm yourselves down.

Another lull loomed over the both of you as you both sat beside one another. The silence felt like it was suffocating.

You looked over your shoulder tentatively only to make eye contact with Ryujin again. You quickly looked away, the blushes on both of your faces glowing a deeper shade.

Biting your lip, you looked back over to Ryujin who was now incredibly interested in the tips of her shoes. Finally, you looked down at her hand picking at the dance floor. With a sudden surge of confidence, you lay your hand flat on the ground and begun inching it towards Ryujin's.

The dancer began to pick up on what you were doing and started doing the same. The tips of your fingers touched and there was the spark that you'd longed for then her hand intertwined with yours.

The corners of your lips twitched upwards before you scooted closer to Ryujin. Saying nothing you'd placed your head on her shoulder. She'd stiffened for a moment before her head fell atop yours, nuzzling into your hair. The smile on your face brightened.

You'd finally found her.
