I've Finished Taking Pictures Of The First Dnd Mini I've Painted! He's The Dreadmere Tortoise, From Reaper

I've finished taking pictures of the first dnd mini I've painted! He's the Dreadmere Tortoise, from Reaper Miniatures. When I have the time, I'll likely start on his companion.

The picture is edited, as I'm using this piece for a school assignment. Almost nothing on the paint job was changed.

Critique is welcome, both for my photography attempts and paint job! ID is under the cut.

[ID: A photo, taken of a dungeons and dragons mini, on the ground outside. The miniature is a tortoise, with a saddle and an assortment of packages strapped to its shell. The sky is not visible, and the background is filled by the base of a tree and some thin tree branches. The ground is covered in small pine needles and dirt. End ID]

Mmmmm Moths (:

Mmmmm… moths (:

[ID: A picture of a sketchbook, cropped to just show the paper. There are four sketches of moths, with the largest in the upper left corner. It faces towards the camera, and it’s wings are opening as it lifts off. Some handwritten text is in the other corner, saying “Bug studies - Dec 15” and underneath it is another moth, shown from the side. A moth in flight faces the “camera” on the right corner of the page. It is significantly less detailed than the others. The smallest doodle of a moth is in the right corner, and is small enough that there are very few visible details. End ID]

These rules are still up to date! While my requests are not open, my commissions almost always are!

I hope y’all are having a great day/night!

Commission/Kofi Update!

Hi! (:

As the title suggests, I've updated my Ko-fi page!

Alongside the character portraits I've had up for a while, I've also added added an option for dragon art, and I've also posted some guidelines for submitting sticker prompts!

More detailed versions of the guidelines are on Ko-fi. For examples of different options, check my "commission example" tag, or my Ko-fi gallery.

(Humanoid) Character Portraits ($45):

Portraits of original characters, showing them from the shoulders or neck up. This can include characters from preexisting franchises, or can be from something original. There are only two restrictions: no characters with self harm wounds/scars, and no furries. The only exceptions to the furries rule are members of fantasy races such as the Argonians, the Khajitt, or gnolls.

Dragon Portraits ($40):

Like the dragon requests I've done previously, the portraits show the submitted dragon from the neck up, and in profile. Submissions for these can include original characters, but also ones made for stuff like Wings of Fire, or Flight Rising. As mentioned earlier, I won't depict any forms of self harm.

Sticker Prompts ($5, tipped):

These are not included in the commission section, because it's a bit simpler. For any tip equal to or greater than five dollars, I'll accept a design request. Suggested subjects are listed on my Ko-fi. Unlike the other options, there is no option to give feedback on the design while I'm working on it, and you won't receive an image file once it has been completed. This mostly exists so I can have another form of commissions with more diverse subject matters, and that I can use the art from them on my Redbubble. For examples of the stickers as I make them, check out my "sticker design" tag, or my Ko-fi gallery. (Sticker Request Guidelines)

I Have A New D&D Character!
I Have A New D&D Character!

I have a new D&D character!

His name is Mordai, and he's for a campaign thats going to be run by one of my friends, and is a level five Way of the Drunken Master Monk, with the entertainer background. At the moment, I'm just making Heroforge miniatures to test out color palettes and design elements while I focus more on art assignments for school.

Design notes, the character's backstory, and the image description are all under the cut! Any and all suggestions are welcome, both for his design and backstory!

[ID: Two screenshots of Heroforge, showing the same character from the front and back. He is a tiefling monk, with pale skin, and satyr legs. Their clothing is mostly composed of layered fabric in two shades of yellow, but with gold and red details. While the hair on his head is black, the fur on his legs is mostly brown. He is holding up a fist, and is posed as if stepping forward. End ID]

Notes:

Full Name: Mordai Nethercote

He was born into a human family, with his infernal lineage pretty far back in their family tree. As a result, their last name is an old-english one. His first name is a tiefling one, just because I like it.

Pronouns: He/They

Sexuality: Pan-romantic, Asexual

Backstory: Entertainer (Jester)

They were forced to join a traveling circus as a child, to bring in money for his family. Hating his life, he eventually ran from the circus, abandoning his family and the woman he met there. When the guilt became too much for him to drink away, he joined a monastery.

Personality:

He's tired, and seemingly laid back, but haunted by what he's done, and isn't looking to repeat the experience. He values the freedom he found after the circus, but isn't sure that it was worth it.

Design Notes:

My main concern is him looking too much like Mollymauk, from Critical Role. Of course, they're both tieflings that spent some time in a circus, but I want to avoid similarities where possible. The yellow-focused palette helps, and I love characters who's personality contradicts their outfit.

Update On The New Campaign: The Human Fighter Is Now A Bard, The Sorcerer Is Now A Rouge, And A New Player

Update on the new campaign: the human fighter is now a bard, the sorcerer is now a rouge, and a new player will be a cleric. Should Mordai die quickly, I have a basic character concept to use afterwards: a gunslinger drow, who’s visual design is heavily inspired by the fanart surrounding the character Percy, who speaks with a horrible cowboy accent and is pretty much just there to eat weird bugs he finds. I'll add more details should it become necessary.

I'm working on some sketches of Mordai, though I'm not sure how many I'll post. So far, this one shows the most promise.

[ID: A sketched portrait of a dungeons and dragons character. They are a tiefling, with long straight horns, and three rings on them. His hair is long and wavy, and some of it is braided. Part of his chest is visible, and he is wearing a necklace with a large pendant. The sketch is done in blue, on a grey background. Small parts have been highlighted with a lighter grey and white. End ID]

Still Reading Frankenstein, So Here's Victor! (:

Still reading Frankenstein, so here's Victor! (:

I've been listening to the musical a lot recently, and I think it had a bit of an influence on my choice to give Victor a halo. Specifically the line "Who dares to act as God?" from the song Amen. Also, if/when I get around to drawing his creation, I'll probably swap parts of the color palette, with the creation having cool colored skin, and warm eyes, contrasting Victor.

I'm not quite satisfied with the perspective for this one, critique and suggestions are very much welcome! Like usual, the ID is under the cut!, but there's also a couple wip images with it this time! (:

Reference - Kofi/Commissions

[ID: A portrait of Victor Frankenstein. His face is pale and dull, and his eyes are dull green. He wears round glasses, with blue tinted lenses. His visible clothes are dark brown, similar to his hair. Behind his head is a gold halo. End ID]

Still Reading Frankenstein, So Here's Victor! (:

[ID: Two screenshots of a drawing program, but cropped to only show the art piece, in two stages of the process. On the right, it is only a sketch, done in grey and blue. On the left, it is the same sketch, but lighter, with parts gone over in clean, black lines. Some parts have been roughly shaded, in blue. End ID]
