A different timeline where HYDRA never got hold of Bucky and he, in fact, died at the fall. Fast forward to 2014: instead of the events of CATWS, HYDRA’s playing with a time-travel machine and people from past and future are being randomly abductee... One of them is pre-war!Bucky. Sam and Cap find him. First thing he does? Flirt with Sam Wilson.

“You’ll be okay, here and now. You got me, pal. Besides, everything’s better here in the future, Buck,” said Steve, before listing a bunch of things that had improved over the years. “Food’s better; sports is phenomenal. Wow. The athletes today are just -”

Bucky waved a dismissive hand, “Yeah, yeah, Stevie. I get it.”

He was not really listening to what his long-lost best pal had to say. He was more interested in his best pal’s new pal, one Samuel Thomas Wilson.

Bucky inched a little closer to Sam and gifted him with a crooked smile. He let his gaze trail up and down Sam’s body a beat, as he instinctively licked his lips and then said, “Sammy, can I call you Sammy?”

Sam felt a flush of warmth creep up his neck from the soldier’s intense stare as he thought, You can call me whatever you like.

Instead of giving voice to his thoughts, Sam simply answered, “Yeah. Sure. Sammy’s fine.”

“Hey,” Steve interjected. “You never liked me callin’ you that. I specifically remember you saying so a month ago.”

Sam did not look away from Bucky as he said, “Why you gotta bring up old shit, Rogers? Sorry, Barnes. You were sayin’?”

Bucky let out a small chuckle and then grinned at Sam once more.

“I was sayin’ that I don’t know about things bein’ better now, so I guess I’ll have to take Steve’s word for it, but I am certain about one thing.”

Sam felt a flutter in his stomach before asking, “Oh yeah? What’s that?”

“I’m certain that you, Sammy,” said Bucky, as he tilted his head to the side. “Have got the prettiest eyes I’ve seen in any century.”
