I Like This View Through The Corridor, As If Its A Frame. At The Weekend I Went To Introduce Myself To

I like this view through the corridor, as if it’s a frame. At the weekend I went to introduce myself to our upstairs neighbour with some flowers and wine. I had my mask on & I was super nervous but it turns out she is the kindest old lady from Japan. I already know we will get on so well — she says when the pandemic restrictions lift we can come up for a cup of tea. Just after I had said bye and come back down to our flat there was a knock at the door and she had brought down some flowers for us, some absolutely stunning yellow and white tulips. It fills me with such joy when I hear her footsteps above us 🤍

Cornell copying down into his journal a line from a Rilke biography: “In the letters written between 1910 and 1914 we find Rilke (continually) expressing a longing for human companionship and affection, and then, often immediately afterwards asking whether he could really respond to such companionship if it were offered to him, and wondering whether, after all, his real task might lie elsewhere.”
