I'm Honestly Surprised More Of Tumblr Isn't Talking About This, Or At Least I Haven't Seen Nearly The

I'm honestly surprised more of Tumblr isn't talking about this, or at least I haven't seen nearly the level that he deserves. I've been watching John Oliver for years and there is little I look forward to as much as whatever violently chaotic fuckery he is up to next. If you love the fact that he is currently legally blackmailing congress, you should check out some of the other stuff he's done, like the (multiple) times he's called out the FCC by having audience members flood their comment system and crashing the website with support for net neutrality or robocalling them every 90 minutes for them to take action against spam calling. Or when he gave AT&T (otherwise known as "Business Daddy") a two-middle-finger send off after it was announced that AT&T no longer officially owned HBO (and has a history of calling the company out). OR that time that he forgave nearly $15 Million dollars in medical debt. Or literally any of his political (or non-political!) segments on stories that don't nearly get enough talk or time in the spotlight. There's so many things he's done that deserve just as much attention as his most popular moments.

John Oliver Just Found A 'F**king Creepy' But Legal Way To Blackmail Lawmakers
The "Last Week Tonight" host suggested he has some really weird dirt about certain members of Congress.

Dude this is so f*cking briliant.  To basically get Congress to realize how f*cked up data privacy laws are. He did data mining, targeted men over 45 that are within 5 miles of the US capital, and put ads out including “do you want to read Ted Cruise fanfiction”. it looks like 100s clicked it including 3 that seemed to be in the capital building while doing so, which then means he has their device info, ip address etc. which he can then mine even more.

it’s no accident that hannibal’s first crime scene as the “new will graham” are the bodies that came out of the water by the dam. recalling the experience to bedelia, hannibal says, appearing genuinely emotionally affected,  “i stood in will’s shoes. i looked through his eyes and saw death how i imagined he would see it.” the bodies are ugly to look at. they’re bloated and discolored and decaying. they’re the discard pile. it’s senseless, meaningless death, a waste of human life. a literal physical manifestation of how will sees death in s1.

hannibal was not very gentle with will in s1. he manipulated the situation with gjh so that will would violently shoot him. nothing beautiful about that. he drugs him, invokes seizures, allows the encephalitis to worsen, etc. as s2 arrives, hannibal visibly and viscerally softens towards will. it’s almost painful to watch. i think that hannibal actually really looked at the crime scene and tried to imagine how will would see it with a level of empathy that changes how he treats will and his attempts at continuing to assist him in his becoming.

after will gets out of prison, hannibal sets himself up as a safe target for will’s violent desires so that will will feel comfortable expressing these desires to him and about him. this is a safety net that is entirely different than s1 in which he lied to him and manipulated him. will’s anger towards hannibal allows will to see his violence as righteous – the opposite of senseless. when hannibal does intervene again by sending randall after will, he’s so fucking gentle with him it makes me want to throw up. he bandages him, talks him through his dissociation, and encourages will to make something beautiful out of randall’s death. he frames the tableau of randall as “honoring” him. this is not a waste. this is not senseless or meaningless. this is the opposite of the bodies in the dam. it’s beautiful.
