Confessions Of A Writer
🖋️ Confessions of a Writer 🖋️
You know you’re a writer when:
Your coffee consumption could fuel a small country.
You have intense debates with your characters about their life choices (spoiler: they never listen).
You get emotionally attached to fictional characters, but your own plants are thriving better than your plotlines.
Your friends have stopped asking “How’s the writing going?” because they can see the existential dread in your eyes.
You’ve accidentally named a character after someone you know, and now you’re avoiding them like they’re your ex.
In summary, writing is 10% creativity and 90% existential crises. Happy writing, fellow word wranglers! 😂✨

writing tip: if you can’t decide what happens next, just throw in a murder. it works, trust me
“To know what is right and not to do it is the worst cowardice.”
— Confucius, Analects
It's really okay to admit you're not ready to tackle a WIP just yet. Whether it's too big, too complex, deals with themes that are mentally exhausting—whatever. It's not going anywhere.
Putting it on the shelf for a while to develop your skills/work yourself up to it and coming back when you're good and ready is Self Care 101.
Sometimes you write your heart out/ass off for HOURS and then take a step back and see you’ve only actually put out three new pages.
Ah, writing. 😩😂

Through a strange twist of fate/coincidence of timing, I have now spent every change of season for the past year in Vancouver working on The Irrational. So... Winter Solstice 2023, Spring Equinox 2024, Summer Solstice 2024, and now Autumnal Equinox 2024. Not complaining, mind you. I love my job, and I enjoy working on set. Just... kinda weird.
Anyway, happy Fall!
Also, please check out The Irrational when the second season starts (Oct 8, 10pm/9central) on NBC. That way maybe I can hit a few more changes of season up here!
