               Rose opened his eyes to peer curiously at Sakanade. She had a sweet, wistful smile on her face, and a distant look in her bright verdant gaze, as if lost in old, old memories. It was all too easy to forget that this eternal child was more ancient than her deceptively youthful appearance suggested, and Rose could only silently wonder at the experiences that she has had in the past. He smiled faintly at the child sprite. 

          “Yes. I would love to learn if you’re willing           to teach me.” 

               He upturned his face just a little, aquiline nose sticking up faintly, delicately taking a discreet whiff of the floral scented air. Even without looking at his hair, he thought that he could identify some of the spring flowers which she had used to adorn his tresses. It was a little game that they played sometimes; like Sakanade, Rose had an avid interest in gardening, too. 

          “Hydrangea. Iris. Daffodil. …And of course,           the sigil of my squad, Marigold. Am I right,           little fleur?”

She smiled brightly at the vizard. Sakanade was never guarded around Rose. What was the point? He had seen the hands of time cradling her heart upon their first meeting. He hadn’t pried though, and she was grateful for that. Their friendship had an easy way about it that she hadn’t expected. Plus she liked that Shinji couldn’t really tell Rose what to do the same way he could boss her other playmates around. Sogyo no Kotowari and recently, Kazeshini.

Smiling at his quick identification of the blossoms present, she nodded eagerly. “You’re exactly right, as always! I’ll find a challenge for you one day. Now for the song!” 

She cleared her throat and began to sing. The ancient language flowing past her youthful lips as thought she spoke it every day. As song continued she began to dance as well, holding out her hand for Rose to join her.
