"Walking along Waikiki, tourists notice how beautiful and well-kept the area is, however once you move into the local neighborhoods it becomes apparent what money is spent on. Leaving the sight of luxury hotels, you come upon camps of countless homeless people, neighborhoods with decaying homes, and a poor education system. Marsella & McCubbin remark about the distinct difference in how Native Hawaiians live and are treated, noting these families are “more likely to be considered poor (12%) compared to the national rate (9.2%)”. As well as “more likely to be unemployed, with a rate of 5.7% for unemployed women (national rate: 3.3%) and a 7.0% rate for unemployed men (national rate: 4.0%)”. The real Hawai’i that is not seen in pretty tourist brochures shows a lack of care on the part of public officials, and a great deal of control from large corporations. Local industry is greatly lacking, and the education system shows a great deal of issues. As well as harming the people themselves, tourism has also helped to harm the environment. The influx of divers and snorkelers along reefs has led to the death of much of the coral, and the trash created by tourists on beaches is immense. Hawaiian culture puts a large importance on respect for nature, and tourism is a large contributor to the destruction of that. Tourism in Hawai’i has turned the culture into something to be profited off of and used by tourists, rather than a home to many."

FEELING IS THE SECRET

THE ART OF REALIZING YOUR DESIRES

by neville goddard

FEELING IS THE SECRET

CHAPTER 1: the law and its operation

your mind (consciousness) is the cause of your entire world (the product of your thoughts). in order to create (consciously manifest), you have to work with your consciousness. to create, you need to know about the law and the methods of operating the law. this is how you can build an ideal world of yours.

"consciousness is the one and only reality."

the mind is being divided into conscious and subconscious mind (note: equal to the beliefs/studies of joseph murphy).

the conscious mind: personal, selective, realm of effect, generates ideas, impresses these ideas on the subconscious mind, objective

the subconscious mind: impersonal, non-selective, realm of cause, receives ideas, gives form and expression to them, subjective

the law: conceiving an idea, then impressing the idea conceived on the subconscious (-> all things evolve out of consciousness).

the conscious impresses the subconscious, while the subconscious expresses all that it‘s impressed by. the subconscious does not originate ideas, but accepts the ideas that the conscious mind feels to be true and objectifies the accepted ideas (how the subconscious mind does that, will remain a secret).

"through his power to imagine and feel, and his freedom to choose the idea he will entertain, man has control over creation."

control of the subconscious mind is accomplished through control of your ideas and feelings. as we don’t know how the mechanism of creation, it is hidden in the depth of the female aspect/womb of creation. the subconscious does not require to "know" about an assumption and how it will create it. it is independent of knowledge, experience and history. an assumption itself existing is enough for the subconscious to give expression to it.

different from joseph murphy:

-> murphy believed that your subconscious mind will use all the information it has collected about the things you want to manifest in order to objectify it.

"ideas are impressed on the subconscious through the medium of feeling."

in order to manifest an idea, it has to be felt. only them it can impress the subconscious.

"feeling is the one and only medium through which ideas are conveyed to the subconscious."

if you cannot control your feelings, they may easily impress your subconscious with undesirable states. therefore, do not restraint or suppress your feelings but rather discipline yourself to imagine and entertain only feelings that contribute to your happiness.

"control of your feeling is all important to a full and happy life."

never entertain an undesirable feeling, nor think sympathetically about wrong in any shape or form. do not dwell on the imperfection of yourself or others (if you do so, it will only limit yourself and the image you have of others based on your feelings about them).

"what you do not want done onto you, do not feel that it’s done onto you or another."

every feeling makes a subconscious impression and - unless it is counteracted by a more powerful feeling of an opposite nature - must be impressed.

I will be and I am

saying that "you will be" is a confession that you aren‘t. "I am" is stronger than "I am not". what you feel like at any given moment always dominantes what you will feel like. your desire must be felt as a state that is rather than a state that is not.

"sensation precedes manifestation and is the foundation upon which all manifestation rests."

your body is an emotional filter and bears the unmistakable marks of your prevalent emotions. emotional disturbances, especially suppressed emotions, are the causes of all disease. feeling intensely about something upsetting without voicing or expressing it, is the beginning of the dis-ease.

"all changes of expression are brought about through a change of feeling.

a change of feeling is a change of destiny. all creation occurs in the domain of the subconscious. what must acquire, then, is a reflective control of the operation of the subconscious, that is, control of your ideas and feelings. your subconscious impressions determine the conditions of your world.

the subconscious isn’t selective. it is impersonal and no respector of persons. it’s not concerned with the truth or falsity of your feelings.

"feeling is the assent of the subconscious to the truth of that which is declared to be true."

there is nothing impossible to man. whatever the mind of man can conceive as true (whatever you can imagine), the subconscious can and must objectify. your feelings create the pattern from which your world is fashioned, and a change of feeling is a change of pattern.

"the subconscious never fails to express which has been impressed upon it."

the moment it receives an impression, it begins to work out the ways of its expression. it accepts the feeling impressed upon it, your feeling, as a fact existing within itself and immediately sets about to procedure in the outer or objective world the exact likeness of that feeling. it creates your impression (thought) as detailed as possible according to your feeling. it out-pictures it to the last detail wether or not it is beneficial/wanted/desired.

to impress the subconscious with the desirable state, you must assume the feeling that would be yours, had you already realized your wish. in defining your objective, you must be concerned only with the objective itself (the manner of expression or the difficulties involved are not to be considered by you). you do not worry about how exactly your wish is supposed to manifest.

"to think feelingly on and state impresses it on the subconscious."

dwelling on difficulties/barriers/delay will make your subconscious proceed to produce them in your outer world.

"the subconscious is the womb of creation."

it receives the idea onto itself through the feelings of man; never changes the idea received but always gives it form.

example: to feel a state as hopeless or impossible is to impress the subconscious with the idea of failure.

by assuming the feeling that would be yours were you already in possession of your objective, the subconscious is moved to build the exact likeness of your assumption.

your desires are not subconsciously accepted until you assume the feeling of their reality, for only through feeling is an idea subconsciously accepted and only through his subconscious acceptance is it ever expressed. it is easier to ascribe your feeling to events in the world than to admit that the conditions of the world reflect your feeling.

"however, it is eternally true that the outside mirrors the inside. as within, so without."

it is impossible to see other than the contents of your subconscious. your world in its every detail is your consciousness objectified.

"YOU ARE THAT WHICH YOU WANT TO BE, AND YOUR REFUSAL TO BELIEVE THIS IS THE ONLY REASON YOU DO NOT SEE IT."

to seek on the outside for that which you do not feel you are is to seek in vain, for we never find that which we want; we find only which we are.

"you express and have only that which you are conscious of being or possessing."

denying the evidence of the senses and appropriating the feeling of the wish fulfilled is the way to the realization of your desire.

"mastery of self control of your thoughts and feelings is your highest achievement."

when perfect self control is attained, you will feel all you want to feel.

Canada challenges compensation order for indigenous children
The Trudeau government has been told to issue payouts because it underfunded First Nations services.

Canada says it will appeal against a court order to pay billions of dollars to compensate indigenous children who went through the child welfare system.

Last month, a top court upheld a 2016 ruling that the government underfunded First Nations services compared with those for non-indigenous children.

It ordered C$40,000 ($31,350; £23,340) payouts to each child who was in the on-reserve welfare system after 2006.

The case has been a source of tension between tribes and the government.
