I feel this on a molecular level
You know...
Sometimes I do feel ashamed to be a part of the Tomb Raider fandom, due to the constant negativity amongst the fanbase, or as I call it, the Core vs. Crystal Wars. There’s just so much unnecessary drama, bullying/harassment, threats and the like. It’s like that in very fandom, mind you, but the TR fandom is one of the worst for that. I admit to being a little arsey myself at times and I do apologise. But you know, people have preferences and opinions and that’s fine. I prefer the Classics myself because that’s what I grew up with. But I’m not going to fight with people who don’t like the classics or waste my time and energy harassing Crystal fans because I’m not an immature dickhead troll. What I do instead is just focus on what I like and leave everyone else to it. There are good people in this fandom and I’m glad to have met them, because if I hadn’t, I’d have left ages ago.
There’s a dark side to every fandom, but there’s also a good side, the people who make the fandoms worth staying in, by being kind and respectful to one another, but not taking any crap off anyone either.
I sometimes think of leaving the fandom altogether, but then I’d think of all the wonderful people I would have left behind. They’re the reason I stay and keep enjoying what I love most.
