Just because writing something is fun doesn't mean it's good. And just because it's a struggle doesn't mean it's bad. It's all relative.

Don't be afraid to write for the joy of it. But also remember that just because something is hard, doesn't mean it's not worth it in the end.

Which on its face doesn’t seem that weird given the prejudice of bastards in asoiaf, but considering bloodraven was literally born to a king and a noblewoman he’s about as far from the smallfolk as could be. which again shows how deep the stigma for illegitimate children runs, as in egg’s mind at least there is no discernible difference between how a bastard should be treated and how a peasant should be treated (obviously his views change later on but still)

I honestly don’t understand why I am being forced to feel sorry for the Hightowers.

They wanted power, they wanted to be the Andal House brought into the Valyrian royal fold. They should have minded their own business and kept to their influence in Oldtown. They wanted more? Ok. Fair enough. Now deal with the consequences. Stop bitching about “unfairness” (this is directed at “saint” Alicent).

When you choose to reach this high, you need to be prepared to deal with it so you can reap the rewards because no one is going to welcome you with a bouquet of roses. When you are low in ranking and you suddenly reach the top through seduction and scheming, you can bet there will be obstacles when you get there.

I mean this whole “Green scheme” was the Hightowers’ plot to steal control of the Seven Kingdoms from the Targaryens. And now I’m supposed to pity them because their plans got blown up in their faces?

I cannot feel sorry for people who get greedy, get close to fire and and then get burned. Otto and Alicent Hightower brought this whole thing on themselves and they lost everything in the end. It’s not tragedy. It’s karma. As they say, fuck around and find out.
