Anchorbeing

Anchorbeing

A term to describe someone who's personal sense of identity is intrinsically linked to a specific characteristic.

This characteristic is known as the anchor. It is something that is deeply tied to an individual's personality in some way. They would not be "them" without this anchor.

Notes:

Even if they change forms, their anchor remains consistent.

Anchors can be realistic traits you already possess (like being generally short).

The anchor may influence other kintypes or alterhuman identities, and these can in turn influence an anchor.

Anchorbeings may have similar experiences to conceptkin. The anchor is not really something that is shifted to, like a kintype, but something that is integrated into the personality.

This can be psychological or spiritual in origin.

Example of usage:

I am an anchorbeing. My anchor is my relative size, and the feelings that come alongside it. I am a tiny. It is intrinsic to my sense of identity to be that way.

It is deep in my bones and my psyche. Something I cannot deny. But also it's like my whole sense of being revolves around this.

My tiny size is like a blanket over any other physical appearance/identity. In-sys I can appear as a human, donkey, harpy, etc. I am hare therian, cat kin. But I always identify as tiny.

Nonhuman expressions of affection are great. Purring. Exposing weak points as a show of trust. Head bonks. Preening and chewing. Nuzzling. Biting. Intertwining tails. Feeding each other. Little chuffs, chatters, beeps and squeaks. Fluffing up of feathers, fur or other things. Dancing to impress. Cleaning their fur, scales, feathers or skin. Sharing body heat. Ears pointing toward those you care about to show your full attention is on them. Slow blinking.

its true some people fake being plural/a system, but that doesn't mean you earned the right to be mean to them.

faking things for attention can be a sign that you did not grow up getting enough attention and now you crave it.

faking things for a sense of community and belonging can be a sign that you don't have either and crave it.

faking things because you think your pre-existing problems aren't "bad enough" can be a sign you have low self-esteem and nobody has helped you through those problems.

even if you think someone is faking something, you don't need to be rude to them. you don't know why they're doing it. if you genuinely think someone is faking something, then you can bring it up RESPECTFULLY. Be nice about it.

They may have munchausens syndrome, too. That is a real and debilitating disorder. When we say respect all disorders, we mean ALL disorders, even that one.

This post applies to other communities too, not just the plural one.
