i have another as well, Kikyo from Inuyasha (SPOILERS)

- goes from having hatred for everything (2nd movie) to giving Kohaku, (another character who spends much of his time in a state of disassociation to forget his past,) her light, like a piece of her soul, so he can be free from the ultimate evil and continue to live

as a morally grey character despite her ultimate goal staying the same, she is inconsistent in who she chooses to protect and when she chooses to show up

id also like to add inuyasha:

whos full blooded demon form serves as a protector and takes over whenever his life is at stake

and also his human form that shows up every new moon and shows much more emotional vulnerability to kagome

he needs both to protect him and his friends and as he develops he realizes that he must balance them instead of casting one or the other out.
