I love the posts that are like "Well this is very clearly the canon but y'all are So Desperate to ignore canon and warp it to whatever fantasy you have for these characters." Like yeah. That's what fandom is. That's what most fan-fiction is built around. The DC fandom specifically is basically built on picking and choosing which comics you personally feel in your heart are canon. That's the fun of it. "Y'all love to ignore some things just to make your character dynamics work." Yes. Yeah that's the point. Correct.

our boys are suffering. even if they're somehow aware of the other's presence they can't possibly be interacting. they're in pain together and they might not even know it. what have they done to us.

vestiges of your childhood

I feel like Dick and Damian definitely do regard each other as father and son to a certain extent but in a way that is so tied to Bruce's "death" that they'll never actually say it. Damian will just keep referring to Dick as his Batman, a role that has only ever meant father to him, and Dick will refer to Damian as his Robin, a name that has only ever meant son.
