Lore! Lore! Lore! Lore!

Weird Dragon Morals (AMDIADD au)

Observed by White Lily

Only a handful of mortals have witnessed a dragon fight. From what ancient books say they tend to bite eachother, hurt eachother, throw insults at eachother and sometimes even go so far as to take their life.

But if you do get the chance to watch a dragon fight, a weird thing that White Lily noticed is that they never go for the throat. No matter how exposed or easy it would be to end the fight if they did.

Do dragons have some moral code with striking eachother at the neck? A question White Lily kept at the back of her head.

That question was answered as soon as she stumbled upon old scriptures about ancient history of dragon riding in an old fortress.

Im those scriptures they tell of how they used to fight the dragons, injure them, then muzzle them, and later send another party to 'save it' and gain its trust.

For some reason dragons are more compliant when stripped of its voice. White Lily did study about the importance of dragontongue to dragonkind. Maybe they would be shunned if they lose their control over the power? And turn to cookies since they themselves already lack the power?

She left the fortress deep in thought. But not too far she discovers an abandoned prison. The cages, although eroded from probably thousands of years of wear and tear, had holes that were too large for a cookie. Not too far from the cells lay saddles and sharp prong collars and— the muzzles...

She observed the cages, the metal used was black and somewhat shiny but rough at the same time. But the most weird thing she finds is the cages were ingraved in dragontongue. The dragons they captured taught them dragontongue? But why? Weren't the cookies the ones who brought them suffering? Why were they helping them?

Or were these the 'trained' dragons that taught them these runes?

***

About a century goes by and White Lily was just about to make her journey to find the Red Dragon. She stopped by Dragon City hearing about the myths and legends from one of the old ladies.

According to her, there was legend of a dragon who fought a group of dragon hunters. Although the dragon emerged victorious, it had a great price to pay.

During the fight one of the hunters managed to slit its throat. Causing the dragon to lose its voice and power over dragontongue. The dragon could trust no-one, too afraid the others would use dragontongue on them while they have no way to counter it.

The dragon left its family, and settled in a cave on the far side of an island. The loneliness set in, paranoia without family or anybody except their own thoughts eventually led the dragon to insanity. It rippied off its own arms and became the very first wyvern.

White Lily doesn't really know what to say. For cookies morals and etiquette originate from history too and it probably works the same for dragons.
