People don’t seem to realise this but he’s been around since the beginning and is one of the men responsible for combating each complication faced in the series– whether present or behind the scenes, along with the following:

proved the worth of the survey corps to prevent them losing funding/being disbanded.

came up with a distraction against Bert/Reiner in the kidnapping arc.

rescued Eren singlehandedly when injured and overall in a dire situation, then led the cast back to safety without passing out.

Notice how most of the above are driving the plot and are steps taken overall towards society/humanity prevailing against the enemy. If you remove almost any of these dotpoints, the series would not be the same.

So I decided to watch TDKR again because my cable is out. And I realise that I only watched this movie to listen to Bane’s amazing voice. Like seriously. That is one hot villain.
