Imagine living in a culture where everyone knows how to read sheet music, and regularly read notes as a form of enjoying music, because they can picture the notes in their heads. There are plenty of musical pieces that were never even intended to be actually performed by actual musicians or orchestras, as a matter of fact a few classics would be physically impossible to execute.

And you really can't. You can kinda recognise pitch, and understand what note represents which pitch, but whenever you're reading music, you always end up humming every note in order to understand it, or even try to properly understand. You try to hum quietly but always end up doing it out loud anyway, and someone will definitely be like

"Oh my god can you shut up? What are you, a toddler? Do I need to hand you a recorder? Please fucking read quietly like an adult."

good morning! i am an insomniac, and right now im thinking about my takes on Drumbot Brian ✨ bc I don’t know when the “exasperated mom friend” characterization for him became so prevalent, but i think we could do more with him, you know?

so consider: the morality switch doesn’t make Brian the tamest mech, it actually makes him the most terrifying and chaotic! you never know what the man’s gonna do! you don’t know what mode he’s in! and even if you do—are you a means or an end in his eyes right now? because there’s always loopholes in legalistic morality, and plenty of atrocities can be justified on paper.

like, the man’s a prophet. he burned in a sun for a millennia. he was burned as a witch. he did illegal nonconsensual necromancy. his moral compass is LITERALLY a roulette wheel. and he shines like gold in the sunlight, so people treat him like a god wherever he goes. let him have a god complex, or at least a prophet complex, or at the very least immensely aesthetic religious trauma. let him be sanctimonious and amoral and acknowledge the fact that he’s most likely started multiple cults. let him cause problems on purpose ✨

anyway this is my updated take after several months of being MIA from mechs fan spaces, love and light <3 honestly i do love to imagine brian raising chickens and being the exasperated only one with a brain cell as much as the next guy, and I don’t even feel very strongly abt any of this, but I kinda don’t think that’s the only thing we should be doing with him. yknow? yknow. that’s all.
