Annabel lee and Prosperos friendship is like my favorite thing. These two upperclass idiots have had tons of political and social allies but never an actual real friend but they’re trying and its great. Annabel is clearly copying Lenore to learn how to have friends essentially, she even copied the fact that Lenore calls her friends darling and as we’ve seen these pet names are really important to Annabel. She calls Lenore pet she calls everyone else love which she’s said is empty to her and she has one other unique name. She calls Prospero darling she’s trying and its cute I love that. I also love how their dynamic is literally just tea (both in the literal and metaphorical sense) they talk drama over tea. Prosperos “Annabel lee!” when she told him she got black mail on montresor is so funny his face is everything I love that part. Do I think Annabel and Prospero are the best friends in the world not really but they’re working on it and it would be really interesting to see if they end up caring about each other even a little bit past their goals in the end.

I was thinking the same thing when the authors mentioned there being another category all the students fit into the only person who doesn’t make sense to me is theo. The deans mention theo having gone to the academy before lenore I have two possible explanations for this

1. Theres a different characteristic for each class that comes through only this class is murder victims

2. Maybe there was foul play in theos death thats yet to be revealed

theory time: what unites all the students at nevermore academy?

tw: death, violence, blood, all the bad & sad stuff.

considering that nevermore academy is a kind of purgatory, there has to be a reason why it holds such a small number of people. in this realm must be plenty of places where different people, united by one characteristic, end up after death. this was also confirmed by the authors.

for a long time now I've been following the theory that all the characters of "nevermore" are united by the way they died. namely, they all were murdered.

almost from the very beginning of the story we were aware that annabel lee was murdered. the same thing was stated in the latest chapters too.

ada was clearly also brutally murdered by the nobleman she loved. the poor girl's body was probably never found. I'm afraid no one really looked for it though.

recently we also learned that duke didn’t just drown. his magical performance was sabotaged by a person unknown to us.

the cause of pluto's death was not specified in detail, but I'm inclined to believe that he was strangled by his tyrant father (and my baby felt a huge relief, I'm crying).

berenice was hit by a car, but I'm pretty convinced that it counts (?), because she was running away from a bad person. especially if we take into account the story of the poe's character with the same name.

oh, and I almost forgot about montresor, although there have been a lot (too much) of him lately. well, he was thrown under a train. not much to add.

the only people who stand out from the general pattern so far are prospero and eulalie. eulalie died in a fire. the exact cause of prospero's death is unknown to us, but with a high probability it was caused by some kind of disease, presumably the plague. however, I wouldn't rush to write these two off. the fire could have been the result of arson. not necessarily for the sake of killing poor eulalie. but in any case it's a deliberately arranged action. remember, in the eyes of the public, duke's death also seemed like an accident.

and the final chord of prospero’s life could have been, for example, not the disease itself, but a medical “mistake” during the surgery or something like that.

Also the way my favorite characters I jokingly headcannon as aro have turned out to be such canonically NOT ONCE but twice is so funny to me I’m so happy to see aromantic representation in webcomics I love it

Some people probably read over the fact that prospero tried to set boundaries so heres some examples of times ada should have realized she is going too far, times prospero set his boundaries, and times they were ignored

The way he said to her “we talked about this don’t touch me” only for her to touch him only a few panels later is crazy and also proves hes tried to talk to her about this and she only dismisses it and him as just being shy. Plus he is aromantic specifically romance repulsed he wasn’t exaggerating when he said she made him sick thats what romance repulsion is it’s not just “I don’t wanna be in a romantic relationship” romantic anything is actually REPULSIVE and sickening plus her being so incredibly public with it is embarrassing and would be actual torture
