The more I think about it, the more I realize how screwed up the whole avatar concept is. Traditionally, the avatar begins training at the age of 16. Imagine that at the age of 16, you are informed that from now on, you are the head of the United Nations (peace and balance) and responsible for global pollution (spirit world). You will work at it until you die. From the age of 16 until you die, without a day off. People treat you as a god, not as a human, and your every mistake is recorded in history. No wonder all the avatars had mental health issues, it's unimaginably screwed up!

After a brief period of denial, I'm officially back in Avatar fandom. Instead of creating one or two OCs into the world like in my other fandoms, I created whole stories about the two avatars after Korra.
