Im asking this out of curiosity, when you do the lethiantale mermay 2024 are there gonna be x reader ones? cause that would be awesome and there's not that much of them btw I do like your storytelling :D
Thank you!
However, I haven't written an x reader for such a long time. So, for this reason, I'm gonna have to say no. In general, x readers don't fit my writing style all that well and I also find it pretty hard to write Y/N characters anymore.
Time to unlock some of my lore!
I know only the basics about fabrics because I was working on sewing a historically accurate outfit from the 18th century. Due to my somewhat limited experience with that, I won't be talking about it.
I will, instead, talk about acrylic yarn and why it sucks.
I crochet. For fun, occasionally for profit. Which means I am very familiar with yarn. I was actually gifted some very colorful acrylic yarn some years ago from different people when I was in the height of my crocheting hyperfixation.
The colors were lovely, but the texture was awful. I don't use a crocheting ring when working because I've always found them a hair unpractical. Due to this, yarn tension is dictated by my bare finger. Acrylic is... scratchier? Might be the word for it, than any other yarn I've worked with. It stays in my closet for that reason alone.
At least one person has told me that I shouldn't use it because it melts too easily. I have a couple of crochet potholders and see how this could be a problem. I have never actually tested out its melting capabilities, but I can only assume it sucks.
And on top of all that, it isn't even practical for my favorite things to make! I like making stuffed animals. Little crochet creatures. Most are of a snugglable size. You could cuddle it in your sleep. Very soft and nice. Acrylic yarns absorb odors and moisture more than other yarns. And the texture's awful.
You can't make creatures, you can't make clothes, you can't make freaking potholders! And it's bad for the environment!
Natural yarns can be really soft and my favorite one is dyed red and I no longer remember where it came from. It's color is just a bit darker than the acrylic red yarn that stares at me from the depths of my closet. That is because I required a darker red, nothing to do with the yarn type. Regardless, I've never felt an acrylic yarn get anywhere near as soft as my nice, soft, red yarn for making little scarves for my creatures.
I’m sorry, but aren’t we collectively tired of all our clothes being made of polyester?
Treasure Chest
A small squid drifted along the ocean currents. It was colorful, but not moving beyond where the water batted at it's limbs. All in all, it looked like a a snack for any creature that happened to swim past. By the looks of it, no one would assume it was a mighty being capable of tearing the world asunder. But it was. The squid was a soulless entity known as Ink. A young leviathan who wasn't sure what to do with his life. So he let the currents carry him. If anything got to close, he simply ate them.
On this particular day, Ink floated past a box-looking thing. He had never seen something made by landwalkers so far below the waves. So he went to investigate. Despite his lack of emotions, Ink liked knowing things, what things are, how they worked, where they came from. So he needed to thoroughly inspect the new object.
He made a slow approach, circling the chest a few times before lifting up what appeared to be the lid. It was heavy, but Ink refused to be any bigger to open it. So when it finally creaked open, Ink still had the appearance of a small defenseless creature. Perfect for a trapped fish, who had been stuck in the chest, to snap right up. There was a moment of confusion as Ink sat, now in the stomach of a fish, unsure of how exactly he got there. However, inside the fish was not very comfortable, and Ink had grown tired of being small.
In a singular moment, Ink returned to his towering leviathan form, bits of fish stuck to him. He gave himself a minute to clean it all off before returning to the chest. Inside there was all manner of shiny things. From glimmery gemstones, to polished metals Ink couldn't name. The colors inside varied from bright reds and blues, to soft copper and silver. Among these precious landwalker treasures were pearls of numerous sizes and colors.
Ink carefully looked over every single object inside, turning them over to inspect them at all angles. After deeming everything to his liking, he piled them all back into the chest and closed, wrapping on tentacle tightly around it to ensure the little trinkets stayed safe. And with that, he took his prize and left, likely to go show Sans or Papyrus his incredible find from the landwalkers.
Every single odd number has an “e” in it.
