Before I Say Anything Else, This Is A Freaking Awesome Piece Of Art Right Here. I Love It!
Before I say anything else, this is a freaking awesome piece of art right here. I love it!
Now. I mainly write sympathetic! Nightmare's Gang. And I don't tend to look all that favorably on Dream. While I'm fairly certain that what Dream sees in the last panel is reality, I can't help but see it both ways.
There's a Dream who sees the terrified face of the brother he lost, who thinks he's hurting his brother again. When, in reality, Nightmare is far from that little kid, someone who hurts others without remorse because he himself once suffered.
There's also a Dream that refuses to acknowledge that Nightmare is still his brother, and still terrified of being hurt. But Dream can't see beyond the negative actions his brother took during the Apple Incident and needs to see him as the villain to justify his own actions.
There's also the possibility of both, Nightmare still being terrified of being hurt, but covering up his emotions before Dream can really piece it together. Just hiding his fear, as he's supposed to be better, stronger, than what he was back at the village.

Time to unlock some of my lore!
I know only the basics about fabrics because I was working on sewing a historically accurate outfit from the 18th century. Due to my somewhat limited experience with that, I won't be talking about it.
I will, instead, talk about acrylic yarn and why it sucks.
I crochet. For fun, occasionally for profit. Which means I am very familiar with yarn. I was actually gifted some very colorful acrylic yarn some years ago from different people when I was in the height of my crocheting hyperfixation.
The colors were lovely, but the texture was awful. I don't use a crocheting ring when working because I've always found them a hair unpractical. Due to this, yarn tension is dictated by my bare finger. Acrylic is... scratchier? Might be the word for it, than any other yarn I've worked with. It stays in my closet for that reason alone.
At least one person has told me that I shouldn't use it because it melts too easily. I have a couple of crochet potholders and see how this could be a problem. I have never actually tested out its melting capabilities, but I can only assume it sucks.
And on top of all that, it isn't even practical for my favorite things to make! I like making stuffed animals. Little crochet creatures. Most are of a snugglable size. You could cuddle it in your sleep. Very soft and nice. Acrylic yarns absorb odors and moisture more than other yarns. And the texture's awful.
You can't make creatures, you can't make clothes, you can't make freaking potholders! And it's bad for the environment!
Natural yarns can be really soft and my favorite one is dyed red and I no longer remember where it came from. It's color is just a bit darker than the acrylic red yarn that stares at me from the depths of my closet. That is because I required a darker red, nothing to do with the yarn type. Regardless, I've never felt an acrylic yarn get anywhere near as soft as my nice, soft, red yarn for making little scarves for my creatures.
I’m sorry, but aren’t we collectively tired of all our clothes being made of polyester?
Cuddle Pile!
The currents were frosty, as most things in Reaper's domain were. He felt right at home, but looking behind him, he was the only one who did.
"Why are we heerree," Error whined, rubbing his hands up and down his arms.
"You're the one who wanted to come here." Reaper shot back, using a particularly harsh flip of his tail to bat Error away. Dream chuckled from his place on Nightmare's shoulder. Error growled at the pair, speeding up to regain his spot behind Reaper.
"I didn't think it'd be so cold!" All the leviathans present turned and looked at their youngest in mild disbelief. "Okay, let me rephrase. I didn't think it'd be so cold for us. We're leviathans for crying out loud,"
"It doesn't feel all that cold to me," Nightmare's voice held a humorous edge.
"I mean, there is one solution to warm up," Ink giggled. Before anyone could say another word, all five leviathans were wrapped up in colorful tentacles. Nightmare let out a screech as a second appendage wrapped him up to keep him from escaping. "Cuddle pile!" Ink cheered, pulling his siblings closer.
Dream, in his smaller form, snuggled against Ink's cheek, watching his twin thrash. Error curled around the tentacle restraining him, relaxing into it. Reaper simply let himself go limp, Ink pulling him around as he wished.
"I guess this is pretty warm," A light blush dusted Error's features. Nightmare was grumbling ancient curses, much to the amusement of the others.
"If you don't unhand me this second, I'm going to restart our war." Ink only laughed. "I'm not kidding!" Nightmare screeched indignantly. Ink only patted his head.
And there, the world's five most dangerous beings sat. Tangled together in a pile of warmth in the middle of a frozen wasteland.
Centuries ago, they would have torn each other apart for even thinking of being in the same territory. But time, as well as the help of certain mers and selkies, softened the titans and allowed them to enjoy the company of their siblings once again.
