Trying To Threaten People Who Are Currently Suffering More Than You Could Potentially Ever Suffer Even
trying to threaten people who are currently suffering more than you could potentially ever suffer even in the worst-case scenario of a trump win (and i say this with full acknowledgement that his win puts many people i care about in danger) is just bad behavior. we are seeing children with no heads, we are seeing parents watch their children get burned alive, get buried alive, families bury only fragments of one another in mass graves, prisoners raped on video die from their wounds, newborn infants found decomposing in hospital beds, six-year-olds pleading for their lives on audio before they get shot at 335 times, the destruction of entire ancient cities, but most of all we're seeing your leaders defend it and lie about it over and over and over again. if you can't even comprehend the scale of the suffering, if you can't wrap your head around it, you are poorly equipped to try and threaten people about it. you are so cruel you are stupid with it. you are asking people in hell to save you from hell with nothing to offer them in return, and you're not even doing it politely.

sorry my stance on stories w no homophobia is just um. well it could do w a little homophobia if im being honest

I still can’t believe they went from this in Attack of the Clones (2002) to this in The Acolyte (2024) even though they’re both portraying Mirialan Jedi Masters.
Vernestra looks like they just slapped some green make-up and some eyeliner dots on the actress and called it a day. It’s awful, especially since she has so many close-ups. Twenty-two years ago they made Luminara look like an actual humanoid alien, with beautiful details in both costume and make-up. Even though she's basically a background character, she looks so much more natural as a Jedi.

Reached out to a biologist to request some info about an extinct species of freshwater shrimp and the email she sent in response was not only lovely and helpful but also kind of poetry to me? People who study invertebrates are actually the most hopeful and compassionate scientists that we have.

“There's already American contractors here, bidding to rebuild this joint. You're gonna tell me. You know, that's all the defense department is. We're bodyguards for American contractors. [...] The U.N.? They don't... We own the U.N. The U.S government owns the U.N. We foot the bill for the U.N. The U.N. does what we want it to. Except for who? Libya and Cuba. So what. We wanted to go in there in a week, we'd take those over if we wanted to anyways. But we foot the bill for the U.N, they'll vote how we want them to vote. That's just our, that's, that's the U.S puppet. You guys should know that you're, you've been in college, I haven't!”
i'm sure it's been said better before but i think the reason i start raising my hackles and hissing every time i get or see a "um that's a THING??/hold on, people DO that?!" type reply on any post about bigotry/marginalized experiences/microaggressions boils down to 1. it feels like performative incredulity and a way for you to immediately insert Yourself as the valiant never-done-anything-wrong subject in a conversation about a kind of violence/persecution which doesn't affect you, 2. marginalized people are CONSTANTLY accused of making things up or misinterpreting or blowing them out of proportion when we talk about our experiences, and even if that's not your intention your comment is very likely to read that way, and 3. if you really truly seriously have never ever ever heard of, like, fat people's eating disorders being encouraged/trans women being socially murdered/autistic people being denied gender affirming care etc. etc. etc. it doesn't actually make me think that you're a perfect angel baby too good to ever even possibly consider that bigotry exists, it just tells me that you either don't have marginalized friends or you don't listen to them/make them feel safe enough to talk about their experiences, because this shit is everywhere! anyways on top of all that it's also just absolute peak obnoxious tumblr phraseology. tumblr users stop valorizing sheltered willful ignorance 2024
