the thing about luke is he wanted to be good ☝️ he wanted to be gentle and kind ☝️those weren’t innate qualities he had no matter what. when luke acted on his first instinct he was quick-tempered and stubborn. he was whiny and immature and impulsive and had a lot of anger in him. he grew up in the galaxy’s darkest hour under two blazing suns & witnessed untold violence. nothing about his life was easy or coddling or guaranteed to make him kind. but he wanted to be good and kind and gentle ☝️so when it came down to it and he needed to make impossible choices he chose love & goodness & forgiveness. ok. it wasn’t easy he wanted to die and he nearly fell to the dark side so so many times but he chose good ☝️like i can’t read another post/meta/fic that takes positivity & gentleness as his basic traits nothing else to it. we saw him struggle to chose those for three movies!!

Hello Mr. Fell

During my time on twitter, you constantly shared words of comfort when we needed the most. And right now it is one of those moments.

The fandom as a whole is dealing with some upsetting news and thoughts. And I believe that a few words will be much appreciated.

Thank you <3

We found each other through a story. A story about humanity and love and, admittedly, a certain amount of mild incompetence. I have seen miracles carried out through the generosity and kindness of people who gathered around those words — that idea — like a flaming sword in the wilderness. No matter what happens, we have each other. We have the idea. Nothing and no-one can ruin it or take it away, because it belongs to us, now. It belongs to you.

Let there be hands, joined to support those without comfort. Let there be ten thousand stories, ending, as they began, in a garden and with a loving kiss, and with the knowledge that we have finally found our home. Let there be sketches, and scribbles, and vast projects and small, silly jokes shared between friends. Let there be joy in defiance of hurt.

And let there be light.

You know, a Minecraft Movie could have been a literal masterpiece if you had the right mindset to do it, and I'm not joking. I feel like nowadays studios are afraid of being genuine like a teen is afraid of being genuine. If a movie suddenly gets too excited about something, it needs to put it down so it doesn't sound "lame" or "cringe". You cannot be honest, and you cannot show love or absurdity without pointing out that it's stupid because you think OTHERS will believe it's stupid. So please bear with me:

Currently we have only a teaser trailer, it looks bad, it puts itself down, it's afraid of being genuine, it somehow managed to whitewash Steve (again), and I doubt that it will use things like the End Poem or how it feels to play Minecraft for its themes and story. I hope that I'm wrong, but I'm very cynical. So, let's think about it together.

Minecraft Movie. I saw a post suggesting stop-motion animation for it, and, honestly, it feels perfect, just like stylized 3D animation. Live action actors do not work with how Minecraft looks, and that's okay. Let's do an animated movie.

The plot. There's so, so many possibilities, but the beauty of making a Minecraft animated movie is that you won't ever be able to tackle all the possibilities it brings to the table. The community has made so many stories for the game, so we might as well just think of an "official" movie as a homage to the game and its community. We are adapting the way Minecraft feels.

End Poem, one of the most beautiful things I have ever read. Let's take that and put it in the movie, simple as that. You can only find it by defeating the Ender Dragon, so this will be how our movie ends. If we want it to end like this, then the objective of our protagonists must be to defeat the dragon.

Let's have Steve as our protagonist - not a whitewashed version, just Steve with his actual skin color left just the way it is. He'll represent us as players for our hypothetical movie. Have him wake up in an unknown world, not knowing why he's there. Just like how the game was all the way back in 2009, he's alone in a very lonely and foggy world. We follow him trying to look for other people, and then he has to survive his first night. This first part is both whimsical and a bit scary, because that's how many players felt when they first started it when they were kids, aallllll the way back.

Steve survives his first night. He's horrified, and then he realizes that he'll have to do it again. He doesn't know the "rules" of this world, but he's figuring them out, and the idea of "rules" and "what to do" will be important. Because, at its core, Minecraft doesn't have that many rules. It has no actual objective. You can do whatever you want, and this will be very (very) important.

Steve ends up building a small base with wood. Survives a bit more, and then, someway, somehow, he finds Alex. While he's more careful around things and very thoughtful on how and what to build, Alex is more of an adventurer, following the little tidbits of personality we see from them during Minecraft trailers. They're happy to know that they aren't alone, and we follow them build a very strong friendship and teach each other new things, just like how it is playing Minecraft in real life. They find a village, and find out that maybe they can leave this world, or at least find some answers, if they defeat the Ender Dragon.

From there, we have a good objective. The two continue progressing, and their base ends up becoming a castle, because who didn't want to build a castle when they were kids? And the world seems progressively more alive thanks to their interference on it, thanks to them helping the villagers, thanks to them being the players that they are. If you want more conflict, just add the pillagers as well.

Eventually, Steve and Alex have an argument about their points of view. They both want to know what's going on, but their way of doing things are different, and they care a LOT about each other, they're best friends, but who is doing things the "right" way? I don't like the idea of them separating because that happens in way too many movies. I want to see these two stick together, but their insistence on trying to do it "correctly" ends up putting them in a lot of trouble because they can't cooperate anymore. Y'know. How people fight and argue about a "correct" way of playing the game. How we as players miss old Minecraft - or do we? Do we miss the simplicity of older times, or do we miss our childhood creativity and willigness to do whatever comes to mind?

Anyways. A good alternative to this conflict would be either Alex or Steve - I'm leaning more towards Steve - being hesitant at completing the End Portal. He doesn't want to end his "dream", he doesn't want answers or to escape this world (aka leave good memories behind), he wants to stay there, but Alex knows that they can't be like this forever, even if she wants to stay. Regardless, they eventually come to a mutual understanding, and, TOGETHER, they go and fight the Ender Dragon. They win, and then the End Poem happens.

The fight against the dragon wasn't the ending; the realization that there are, indeed, no rules to put them down, or that they HAVE to leave everything behind, is the ending. They hear the poem while sitting next to each other. The world changed because of them, and sometimes it was for the worse, and sometimes it was for the better, but it did become much kinder, and they weren't alone. They don't HAVE to be. Just like how it actually happened in the actual game, through the 15 YEARS since it started to exist, and oh my God it's been 15 years already?! Oh my God-

Anyways. Movie ends with Alex and Steve having a lighthearted argument over what to build next. Steve wants another castle, Alex says that she has amazing ideas for something she's calling a "mob farm", and "trust me, it'll make our lives SO MUCH easier". And they're just being silly, because there are no rules.

Anyways thanks for reading this post, feel free to add your own things to it! Just had to get it out of my chest.

Imagine a Minecraft movie where somebody wakes up in a forest and has no memory of who they are and where they come from and they have to build a shelter and survive the night until they find other people similar to them and slowly become a community of creative, talented friends who need to free the End dimension to try and find the gods that put them there. Imagine that.

It's not just erasure of queer characters. It's disrespect of Wilde's memory in the worst way. Oscar Wilde went to JAIL for being gay and his book was used as evidence against him. This was his only novel and they censored it to make it less queer even back then.

This is a crime.

Anyway boycott the modern adaptation of Dorian Gray.

chat the end poem makes me tear up every time i read it. chat i am emotionally devastated by this mockery.

Chat they made Minecraft into a silly goofy cringe movie even through Minecraft is actually about life and earth and the universe and tearing meaning out of the ground and molding it with your hands into something that you can be proud of. They made the pink sheep look ugly and funny for a cheap laugh when it should’ve been a beautiful moment where you, age eleven, come across this rarity, this beautiful anomaly and you hold its face in your hands and stare into its chocolate brown eyes and you realize what the whole world is about. Chat they made it into a joke

“Imagine having a child that refuses to hug you or even look you in the eyes”

Imagine being shamed, as a child, for not showing affection in a way that is unnatural or even painful for you. Imagine being forced, as a child, to show affection in a way that is unnatural or even painful for you. Imagine being told, as a child, that your ways of expressing affection weren’t good enough. Imagine being taught, as a child, to associate physical affection with pain and coercion.

thinking about you can't leave this bookshop tonight. that final plea after everything. crowley grasping for straws at a reason, any reason, and all he can think of is the shop. the shop that aziraphale has centered his life around for centuries now, the shop that he spends his time and the shop that burned. if he wont stay for crowley, he wont stay for them, then surely he'll stay for his home. somebody sedate me now

Better concepts for a minecraft movie, an incomplete collection:

Minecraft Storymode

Put Grian in charge and let him hire/cast whoever he wants

Put Tommyinnit in charge and make it R-rated

Put Ranboo in charge and it will be the psychological thriller of all time

Put Scott Smajor in charge. Full stop.

You could also put MatPat in charge. I’d be cool with that.

Literally just have it be that trope where a dude wakes up with no idea where he is or who he is and he has to learn how to survive while slowly unraveling the mysteries of the world around him

Literally anything as long as it maintain the core message of the game: love, loss, coexistence with the world around us, creation, infinity, and the endless incomprehensibility of the creative potential of the human mind

And do NOT for the love of god make it live action (or whatever you call a handful of human beings surrounded by blue- and green-screens)

incapacitation

content warning

drugs that make a character woozy and disoriented. slurring words and falling slack, everything too heavy and confusing and muffled

blown pupils, wandering eyes, breathing too much or too little. sweating, shaking, puking, so limp and pale it’s almost like they’re dead

fevers so high a character's mind just turns to mush. glossy eyes tracking the ceiling, listless and unaware until eventually there's sweat sticking all over the sheets and they start mumbling some vague responses to caretaker's questions

tranquilizer dart that brings a character down all at once. one sudden jerk or look of confusion, not enough time to glance at it much less pull it out before eyes are rolling back and they collapse into the dirt

tranquilizer dart that comes on slowly. pulling it out and running and running until each step becomes too uncoordinated, stumbling or getting dragged along by a teammate until even their begging to stay awake, let's go, becomes hazy and distant

struck so hard that everything rings in one ugly roar. staggering or falling, told to sit down, just stay down. so confused and lost, repeating the same questions and forgetting the answer over and over and over again

character so messed up they struggle to follow any part of the conversation. everything too heavy and confusing and muffled, just useless and incoherent and completely oblivious to the situation

nervous prodding or pleading by caretaker, begging them to just stay awake or focus

jostled around by captor, told to get the fuck up and follow orders, easily manhandled around and restrained

mumbling nonsense and spilling secrets. stoic characters without any masks, so confused and broken and vulnerable, slipping and powerless in every sort of way

"you're okay, i promise you're okay"

“ah, shit. you’re a mess—”

“I guess you won’t remember this anyways…”

gaze drifting and blank, too faraway to track anything caretaker/captor is saying. nudged and prodded and pleaded at to no avail, just incoherent and out of it

too weak to move. beaten absolutely senseless or bleeding all over the place, a character just hurting and spent beyond means and sprawled flat against the ground

getting dragged along or stepped on, pinned down as if they're in any state to go anywhere

hypnotized and stunned into mindlessness. repeated mantras and rewired thoughts, a character made pliable and blank and used like a puppet

paralyzed but fully aware, left slack and useless and desperate with limp muscles and depressed breathing. assumed dead and abandoned, grieved over or dumped aside like a corpse, forced to watch and unable to do anything

poisoned and just getting worse and worse. teammates desperately looking for a cure while character deteriorates, puking and passing out and getting high fevers, hallucinating and begging for relief

characters taken out of commission when they're otherwise the strongest one. exposed to a weakness, given magical restraints or cuffs with neural suppressors to keep them docile, targeted and taken out

vertigo taking a character side to side, brought down and useless

guys what if i sobbed

i really need a scene in good omens 3 where crowley and aziraphale just hug and love each other unashamed in front of their former bosses. Where the angels and demons see how beautiful azi glows when hes happy, and how soft and tender crowley can be, even though he could destroy everyone in the room. the pair saying "i missed you so much" and smiling and giggling into each others' chests and shoulders, not giving a single, solitary fuck about heaven and hell

I love how unconditional Crowley and Aziraphale’s relationship is.

Other than The Arrangement and dinner (which I’m pretty sure were just excuses in the early days to hang out with each other) and the odd apology dance (when it was deserved after one of them really hurts the others feelings) they don’t owe each other anything.

When Crowley asks for Holy Water he doesn’t say to Aziraphale that he owes him for saving his life in Paris. In 1941 when Crowley thanks Aziraphale for ‘getting him off the hook’ Aziraphale doesn’t say well you saved me earlier this evening so now we’re even. They never need to get even with each other. There are no conditions.

…which is why the final fifteen hurts.

They both feel like conditions are set.

Crowley thinks Aziraphale’s condition is he needs to become an Angel again to be worthy. Aziraphale thinks Crowley’s kiss was his condition/leverage. Using his own feelings against him. I kiss you so now you have to stay.

These ineffable idiots really need to talk it through

I think I've figured out how I want go3 to end. A card that says "2028, the South Downs". Crowley, yelling at plants in the garden. He stops and his face softens when Aziraphale walks out, but he still glares angrily at the offending plants.

Aziraphale kisses his cheek and says he should come inside. He's made pancakes. Crowley obliges. He doesn't normally eat, but hes grown fond of his angel's newfound skills in the kitchen.

Aziraphale pulls out a chair for Crowley and they sit together. Aziraphale raises his mug of tea, and Crowley raises his coffee.

"To our world," they toast. As they do so, we catch a glimpse of their silver wedding bands.

The camera zooms out and we see two nightingales and their nest. The credits roll as the song A Nightingale Sang In Berkeley Square again. The nightingales are singing.
