WIP Wednesday

the lovely and amazing @electriicfleur tagged me for this one so i decided to post a lil snippet of memories of the west.  maybe from the next chapter or the one after that... maybe it won’t make it in at all.  i’m not sure just yet.  but here it is:

Some dark clouds came creeping from the west.  Constance thought of her father and her family and of how it seemed the storms were following them.  Soon, the moonlight would be blotted out, and the rains would be on them again, whipping the water into a frenzy and raising the rivers between them and their destination.  

Constance was so caught up in her thoughts that she did not see Arthur finish his cigarette, nor did she notice him watching her.  But she felt his hand brush along her neck, pushing back hair as he went.  She felt when he leaned in and pressed three kisses where his hand had just been.

She shivered because of the electric wind moving across the water, because of Arthur.  But then he pulled back, and she turned her head to look at him.  He was silvery and blue and shadowed, and she put her hand out, rested it against his cheek, to feel the warmth of his skin.

He smiled, and she smiled back.  She felt on the edge of things unknown.  The storm was moving closer, and soon they would go inside, where it was warm and dry and they’d be alone.  This put a strange sense of excitement and fear in her.  She had half-dreamed desires forming.  She had feelings moving in on her as fast as those clouds.

“Let’s go inside,” she said.

This was so fun, and I feel like I might have a better grasp on the character now because of this!  Thank you so much, @shallow-gravy​, for the tag!  This is for Constance, the OC in Memories of the West.

Advocate (INFJ-T)

Advocates have an inborn sense of idealism and morality, but what sets them apart is that they are not idle dreamers. These individuals are capable of taking concrete steps to realize their goals and make a lasting positive impact.

People with this personality type tend to see helping others as their purpose in life. Advocates can often be found engaging in rescue efforts and doing charity work. However, their real passion is to get to the heart of the issue so that people need not be rescued at all.

Advocates indeed share a unique combination of traits. Though soft-spoken, they have very strong opinions and will fight tirelessly for an idea they believe in. They are decisive and strong-willed, but will rarely use that energy for personal gain.

Advocates will act with creativity, imagination, conviction, and sensitivity not to create an advantage, but to create balance. Egalitarianism and karma are very attractive ideas to Advocate personalities. These types tend to believe that nothing would help the world so much as using love and compassion to soften the hearts of tyrants.

Advocates find it easy to make connections with others. They have a talent for warm, sensitive language, speaking in human terms, rather than with pure logic and fact.

It makes sense that their friends and colleagues will come to think of them as quiet Extraverted personality types. However, they would all do well to remember that Advocates need time alone to decompress and recharge, and not to become too alarmed when they suddenly withdraw. Advocates take great care of others’ feelings, and they expect the favor to be returned – sometimes that means giving them the space they need for a few days.

Really, though, it is most important for people with the Advocate personality type to remember to take care of themselves. The passion of their convictions is perfectly capable of carrying them past their breaking point. If their zeal gets out of hand, they can find themselves exhausted, unhealthy, and stressed.

This becomes especially apparent when Advocates find themselves up against conflict and criticism. Their sensitivity forces these personalities to do everything they can to evade these seemingly personal attacks. When the circumstances are unavoidable, however, they can fight back in highly irrational, unhelpful ways.

To Advocates, the world is a place full of inequity – but it doesn’t have to be. No other personality type is better suited to create a movement to right a wrong, no matter how big or small. Advocates just need to remember that while they’re busy taking care of the world, they need to take care of themselves, too.

WIP not-Wednesday

I don’t really know what day it is, I’m currently dissociating but in honor of the AUs @tanaleth and I were discussing, I thought I would share my modern crime AU/red dead crossover in which Nora is part of the Van der Linde gang in the modern day and Danse is the federal agent investigating their strip club for money laundering yes I’ve put way too much thought into this

Five minutes.

Five fucking minutes.

They had a rule and he’d never gone over time, besides that one time in New Mexico, but he’d really been in trouble then. She was just starting to worry she’d actually have to go in after him until he came out, sunglasses on and bag slung over his shoulder.

She checked her stopwatch. 5:13.

Sloppy.

As soon as he opened the door, she let him have it.

“You’re late.”

“I’m sorry,” he drawled, heavily sarcastic. Nora rolled her eyes. “Maybe you wanna get the money next time.”

“Maybe I should.” She checked her mirrors as she peeled away, always so vigilant in the wake of a job. Especially one that cut it this close. “How’d we do?”

Arthur unzipped his bag. “‘Bout ten.”

It wasn’t the worst they’d done. Wasn’t the best, either. Dutch, at least, would be decently satisfied, and for an easier job, it was really all they could ask. In their industry, it was high risk, high reward.

Getting away with theft was never exactly fair, but then, neither was one man with all that fucking money.

The way she saw it, they were karma’s agents, evening the playing field little by little. Nothing wrong with that.

Arthur shoved the bag of cash into the backseat, right as the car pulled up to a red light. Just in time to salute the officer in the car stopped next to them.
