“Five years?” Shen Qingqiu gasped. “I can’t see my husband for five years, because you can’t write a single fucking page of an adequate plot?”
Shang Qinghua took another step back. He’s been doing it every couple of minutes since he’s burst into Shen Qingqiu’s house, carrying the worst news ever.
“Well, to be completely fair, this particular plot line didn’t make it to the novel!” The hamster of a man squeaked. Shen Qingqiu knew he was making himself look pathetic on purpose. He took great satisfaction in knowing that it wouldn’t help him in the slightest.
“Oh! In such case it’s fine I guess! Your shitty novel didn’t suffer.” Shen Qingqiu snapped his fan open and took a step towards Shang Qinghua. “It’s only a small matter of my marriage, then.”
“Cucumber-bro,” Shang Qinghua pleaded. “I’m so, so sorry, but at least I got here in time, right? What’s five years for immortal cultivators? Painful death would be much worse.”
He was right about that, at least. Painful death that Shen Qingqiu was about to inflict on his ex-best-friend would be horrific.
“I will kill you now.” He said. “Don’t forget to tell me how painful it is.”
Shang Qinghua scrammed. Shen Qingqiu let him, but only because his knees were a little weak and he wasn’t about to embarrass himself by collapsing in the middle of murder attempt.
He took a careful breath and lowered himself on the nearest surface, which turned out to be the floor, but he was at his house and there was no one to witness that. He could sit on the floor all he wanted. Because his husband got himself cursed and wouldn’t be coming back home anytime soon — if at all.
Five years.
Shen Qingqiu sat on the floor of Bamboo House for what must’ve been a long time, because when Liu Qingge barged in it was already dark.
“Shixiong.”
“Liu-shidi.” Shen Qingqiu blinked up at him. “Why are you here?”
“Your disciples worried.”
Ah, Ming Fang and his snitching habits.
“This master is fine.” Shen Qingqiu said. He didn’t try to stand up — his legs have long since gone numb.
“You don’t look fine, do you?”
Liu-shidi, since when are you so talkative?!
Shen Qingqiu frowned and decided not to deign his martial brother with an answer.
“Binghe got cursed.” His mouth said without his consent. “Eternal Heart-Penury Winds. In Lichen Caves. He forgot me and everything connected to me. It’s not for actual eternity, though, if I stay away from him for five years. If I fail, and he sees my face for even a second, then it’s for eternity. How’s that?”
Liu Qingge didn’t say anything. Which, of course he didn’t. What was Shen Qingqiu even thinking, talking to him about it? He knew his Shidi was allergic to feelings of any kind.
It’s just that he wouldn’t see Luo Binghe for five whole years. They’ve been married for four and a half. How was one supposed to react to such a thing?
“I’ll make you some tea.” Liu Qingge muttered and left the room. Shen Qingqiu stayed on the floor, mind just as numb as his body.
i love beast peak shen yuan but tbh if he didnt transmigrate onto qing jing im an alchemist shen yuan truther. I can see him going on absurdly dangerous journeys to get one plant he needs for a potion. when his shidis complain that alchemy is boring, he shows them how to make snow that's warm and introduces them to snowball fights. the peak lord sees them goofing off and scolds them, and all the kids hide behind shen yuan, terrified, but he just smiles and says, "shizun, this one is simply showing everyone a safe way to train! The junior disciples are still young and could be seriously hurt if they fight with wooden swords... this way they can practice their reaction times and dodging skills with something soft and harmless like snow." Shen Yuan's shizun groans and throws up his hands because there's no winning against the alchemy peak's head disciple when he creates a fun game for the little kids.
he knows the weirdest things (because he's a transmigrator) and it leaves people shaken. He's talking to Shang Qinghua saying shit like "do you think a heavenly demon's semen could be added into a potion and used as a cure instead of papapa" and shang qinghua is going hey. can you never say something like that again. thanks.
Brazil’s Minister of Human Rights fired over sexual harassment allegations; Minister of Racial Equality allegedly a victim

Minister of Human Rights Silvio Almeida was fired Friday after allegations of moral and sexual harassment by at least four ministry employees surfaced. Minister of Racial Equality Anielle Franco was allegedly one of Almeida’s victims.
The case came to light on Thursday after the “Me Too Brazil” movement released complaints made by employees of the ministry. Later, the local press said that Minister Franco had also been a victim of sexual harassment by her government colleague. She allegedly reported the case internally in June, but no action was taken until Me Too Brazil went public.
The news was a bombshell for the federal government, especially given Almeida’s history of defending human rights. A Black man, lawyer, philosopher and professor, Almeida was highly respected among social movements and the left, considered one of the country’s leading experts on racial issues, and was even considered for the Supreme Court last year.
With the repercussions of the allegations, the federal government was forced to act, and President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva fired Almeida less than 24 hours later. Lula met with Almeida on Friday afternoon and confirmed his removal from office. “The president considers it unsustainable for the minister to remain in office given the nature of the sexual harassment accusations,” said a statement released by the government.

SQH: "if you could have just one wish, what would you wish for?"
Bingge: "Bring shizun back so I can kill him again."
SQH: "Yikes... Bingmei?"
Bingmei, swooning: "I'd wish for shizun to kidnap me and keep me chained up in his basement as a sex slave for a few centuries until anyone who ever knew me has died so that I may exist solely in shizun's mind and no one else's"

Homemaking, gardening, and self-sufficiency resources that won't radicalize you into a hate group

It seems like self-sufficiency and homemaking skills are blowing up right now. With the COVID-19 pandemic and the current economic crisis, a lot of folks, especially young people, are looking to develop skills that will help them be a little bit less dependent on our consumerist economy. And I think that's generally a good thing. I think more of us should know how to cook a meal from scratch, grow our own vegetables, and mend our own clothes. Those are good skills to have.
Unfortunately, these "self-sufficiency" skills are often used as a recruiting tactic by white supremacists, TERFs, and other hate groups. They become a way to reconnect to or relive the "good old days," a romanticized (false) past before modern society and civil rights. And for a lot of people, these skills are inseparably connected to their politics and may even be used as a tool to indoctrinate new people.
In the spirit of building safe communities, here's a complete list of the safe resources I've found for learning homemaking, gardening, and related skills. Safe for me means queer- and trans-friendly, inclusive of different races and cultures, does not contain Christian preaching, and does not contain white supremacist or TERF dog whistles.
Homemaking/Housekeeping/Caring for your home:
Making It by Kelly Coyne and Erik Knutzen [book] (The big crunchy household DIY book; includes every level of self-sufficiency from making your own toothpaste and laundry soap to setting up raised beds to butchering a chicken. Authors are explicitly left-leaning.)
Safe and Sound: A Renter-Friendly Guide to Home Repair by Mercury Stardust [book] (A guide to simple home repair tasks, written with rentals in mind; very compassionate and accessible language.)
How To Keep House While Drowning by KC Davis [book] (The book about cleaning and housework for people who get overwhelmed by cleaning and housework, based on the premise that messiness is not a moral failing; disability and neurodivergence friendly; genuinely changed how I approach cleaning tasks.)
Gardening
Rebel Gardening by Alessandro Vitale [book] (Really great introduction to urban gardening; explicitly discusses renter-friendly garden designs in small spaces; lots of DIY solutions using recycled materials; note that the author lives in England, so check if plants are invasive in your area before putting them in the ground.)
Country/Rural Living:
Woodsqueer by Gretchen Legler [book] (Memoir of a lesbian who lives and works on a rural farm in Maine with her wife; does a good job of showing what it's like to be queer in a rural space; CW for mentions of domestic violence, infidelity/cheating, and internalized homophobia)
"Debunking the Off-Grid Fantasy" by Maggie Mae Fish [video essay] (Deconstructs the off-grid lifestyle and the myth of self-reliance)
Sewing/Mending:
Annika Victoria [YouTube channel] (No longer active, but their videos are still a great resource for anyone learning to sew; check out the beginner project playlist to start. This is where I learned a lot of what I know about sewing.)
Make, Sew, and Mend by Bernadette Banner [book] (A very thorough written introduction to hand-sewing, written by a clothing historian; lots of fun garment history facts; explicitly inclusive of BIPOC, queer, and trans sewists.)
Sustainability/Land Stewardship
Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer [book] (Most of you have probably already read this one or had it recommended to you, but it really is that good; excellent example of how traditional animist beliefs -- in this case, indigenous American beliefs -- can exist in healthy symbiosis with science; more philosophy than how-to, but a great foundational resource.)
Wild Witchcraft by Rebecca Beyer [book] (This one is for my fellow witches; one of my favorite witchcraft books, and an excellent example of a place-based practice deeply rooted in the land.)
Avoiding the "Crunchy to Alt Right Pipeline"
Note: the "crunchy to alt-right pipeline" is a term used to describe how white supremacists and other far right groups use "crunchy" spaces (i.e., spaces dedicated to farming, homemaking, alternative medicine, simple living/slow living, etc.) to recruit and indoctrinate people into their movements. Knowing how this recruitment works can help you recognize it when you do encounter it and avoid being influenced by it.
"The Crunchy-to-Alt-Right Pipeline" by Kathleen Belew [magazine article] (Good, short introduction to this issue and its history.)
Sisters in Hate by Seyward Darby (I feel like I need to give a content warning: this book contains explicit descriptions of racism, white supremacy, and Neo Nazis, and it's a very difficult read, but it really is a great, in-depth breakdown of the role women play in the alt-right; also explicitly addresses the crunchy to alt-right pipeline.)
These are just the resources I've personally found helpful, so if anyone else has any they want to add, please, please do!
