This is Honey. One of my favorite OCs. Simply out of boredom I created her. Now, I love her to bits.
Atlantic
The waves racked the vessel. The bow of the ship plowed forward, determined to reach Halifax. The captain had been told that the coal supply was low and knew that the ship wouldn’t make it to New York. Alvin thought otherwise.
Alvin was the second oldest in the Oceanic Class, his older brother being Ocenas, aka, RMS Oceanic. Alvin...didn’t like his work name. Atlantic seemed too extreme. Being named after a whole ocean, Alvin felt pressure on him to be as great as the Atlantic Ocean. This added to his anxiety and stress, making him less social compared to his siblings. Being born in the 1870s, Alvin was held to a higher standard than he was capable of reaching. He only passed his sea trials because Ocenas threatened to attack. Regardless, his passengers said he was nice and calm, his crew were amazed at how well he worked, and his captain was glad at Alvin’s quick response. April 1st, 1873 would change that.
Alvin had been in storms before, though only close to shore or with his siblings. Alone, with only his crew to talk to, Alvin felt stressed, especially when his Quartermaster kept repeating that they were off course. Alvin had never been to Halifax himself, but he knew that the Sambero Light was now on his right side, he could see it. “Sir....I see the light...” Alvin nervously said. The officer on duty, Third Officer Brady, ignored the Quartermaster and Alvin’s pleas. “I don’t see the light. We’re still far away enough.” he stubbornly said. Alvin huffed, upset with his attitude.
At 3:15 AM, Alvin and his lookouts spotted a rock and the coast of Nova Scotia. Brady ordered hard a starboard and full astern, hoping to avoid collision. Sadly, Alvin could not say the same as his keel, his spine, was torn open by an underwater rock. If anything, his scream of agony was haunting. A few seconds later, he struck the rock. The sudden shift of speed of the air inside Alvin blew out all the oil lamps used to light the ship. Alvin was sobbing, his body in pain and his crew trying to free him from the rock. The waves forced his stern against another rock, shearing off his screw blades. Now he was stuck....and sinking.
Alvin’s crew was panicking. The captain ordered the lifeboats out and to be filled with passengers. Since the entire ship was dark, passengers took a lot longer to get dressed and find their way out. Most were stuck on the stairwells leading outside. Alvin felt himself dying. He began to zone out the events happening on him and to think about his siblings, his family. By the time Alvin was dead, 535 people had already died. In the early morning, the survivors officially declared Alvin sunk.
The response to Alvin’s death was horror in the human and ship world. Humans were shocked at the amount of death and ships were horrified that Alvin, an OCEANIC CLASS liner, sank. Ocenas and Alvin’s later siblings never forgot him. Most of Alvin’s younger siblings would only know about Alvin through Ocenas. Sadly, RMS Atlantic would fade into history after Titanic’s sinking and wouldn’t be publicly known to a wider audience until late 2018.
Alvin: RMS Atlantic
Ocenas: RMS Oceanic
To clarify, these ships are living. They have their own feelings, minds, and personalities. They also have control over their bodies, but cooperate with humans. They can be born or built. Born ships take longer to be active while built ships are active as soon as ready.
